Advantages: It is great fun and could even make you a fortune
Disadvantages: Shares can fall in value as well as rise and this site does not give you advice
...with them?
This is where the Halifax Sharedealing service comes in. A low cost, online way to buy and sell shares which works brilliantly for me and allows me to keep track of how well, or badly, my shares are doing in real time.
OPENING AN ACCOUNT
Well, if you are already a Halifax online customer, go to Halifax-online.co.uk and register for sharebuying. If you are a non-customer, go to the same site. The registration process is the ...

The Account:
When you open a Share Dealing Account, you are effectively opening two accounts, one for your shares and one for to manage your cash which you deal with. In order to start dealing you will need to fund your account. This can be done in one of two ways, either by transferring money online from another Halifax account, or by setting up a ...

Tips For Opening And Running A Sharexpress Account
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
fallen121
Advantages: Quick, cheap, easy to operate. If selling you get your money with 3 days.
Disadvantages: Site can be slow, too many passwords to remember
I started out opening a Halifax Websaver online. I then printed off the documentation and took it down to my local Halifax branch with two forms of identification. That got the money laundering requirements out of the way and meant that once I'd received all the passwords in the mail, I could go ahead and open my Sharexpress account online straight away because I was already a customer. The Websaver pays a great rate of interest too, far better than ...

Much improved but beware....
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
DeanBolton
Advantages: Nominee account, funds don't need to be lodged in order to trade
Disadvantages: You may not be able to trade at all during busy times
Halifax sharexpress uses a nominee based system, this means that they hold the shares in an account for you rather than sending certificates out by post, in my opinion this is a far superior system as shares can be bought and sold on any trading day without the need to wait for certificates (can take up to 1 month with some brokers).
Dealing fees are reasonable at £12.50 for deal for trades under £2000.
Halifax don't require that you have funds ...

Trading with ShareXpress
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
GS26
Advantages: Good Web Site
Disadvantages: Account information sparse
Trading Shares with Halifax ShareXpress.
The Halifax ShareXpress Service provides share dealing by phone or Internet. The lowest costs are for trading using a nominee account. £12.50 up to £2500.00. Having traded shares only using certificates the decision to sign up to this type of account was a change of direction. The most obvious difference and possible advantage is that holding and dealing in shares with a certificate as proof of ownership ...

POOR service
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
bssb
Advantages: Halifax look after certificates!
Disadvantages: Speed and service levels
...have held shares in a Halifax share account now for 9 months. The reason for opening it was due to an offer for free online dealing until the end of January.
Firstly they took well over a month to process my application, and although my account was effectively open I could not actually trade. Since then the site has come under fire for how slow it is - something I also recognise as a major problem, although the speed has been considerably improved ...

It's good to share
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
battybabs
Advantages: One of the cheapest share dealing organisations around.
Disadvantages: Dealing on the telephone can take a while (as does nearly every helpline nowadays)
I am very new to this business of sharedealing and do not do very much of it at all and sadly I have not made an awful lot of money as in the words of my husband 'I wouldn't bother if that is all you are making'.
Well you see I can't stand the pressure and sell far too easily only to moan the next few days when the price has risen dramatically and my little pittance is ridiculous. However that is what kind of business woman I am and none of that ...

BUYING STOCKS AND SHARES WITH THE HALIFAX
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by

Advantages: GOOD RATES. GOOD WEBSITE. GOOD SERVICE
Disadvantages: RISK
...lose.
I first joined the Halifax Share Dealing Ltd about 5 years ago and must say they have looked after me very well.
Out of my other three stockbrokers Halifax Share Dealing has definitely got the best website which is very simple and well layed out, so whilst online you can check various things such as , dividend history, dealing statements, live prices, corporate actions, market news etc. The online website also has a live online one 2 one ...

Is it good or not?
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by

Advantages: Cost and ease of use
Disadvantages: Website can be slow and limited dealing available (UK stocks)
...easiset ways to buy shares. Halifax was pretty much in frame. £12.50 to deal is pretty good, no fees and this October free reports etc.
Is it good or bad?
For me as an infrequent trader, Yes, but I do find the web site is slow sometimes. Support via e-mail can be poor but I believe the whole service is getting better. I know Halifax are trying to improve the service.
I do find being unable to trade in OFEX/Europe/US a downside but other brokers ...

Better than most
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
dumbkid
Advantages: clean, clear and understandable
Disadvantages: can be really slooooooooooow!
...navigate to all manner of Halifax stuff, not just shares. I already have a bank account and web saver and can check and move money to and from my share account with a few clicks. Best of all the price they quote is the price you end up getting, whether buying or selling, so when the contract note comes it normally says what it should do and the value of your trade hasn't suddenly decreased in the post. ...

not allways good
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
mrbounty
Advantages: Cheap - only a fiver a deal for next month, I like improved site.
Disadvantages: Not easy to rectify their mistakes
I have to admit that halifax has done me alright most of the time. But not allways.
I have had a couple of problems with them the most significant being when they confirmed a deal at the wrong price (much higher than market price) not that I was complaining at the start. Halifax even sent out a contract note confirming this.
After realising their mistake they recredited the shares and pretended it never happened. I did eventually reach a comprimise ...

Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by

Advantages: fair charges
Disadvantages: slow access
not a bad broker. access to site can be painstakingly slow at times even with a good isp. no chance of getting through at first few minutes of trading. access to new issues is non existent on net in my experience, may get to buy some over phone but involves little higher charges and slower by which time stock ahd risen significantly.
some stocks on AIM can be unavailable at times unless stock becomes highly traded after many journal tips again by ...

£11.50???
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
kristian1111
Advantages: Great way to make money if you know what you are doing
Disadvantages: see bellow
...have been a member of halifax for a long time now and i think they are great, they always care and a great bank overall, online they still need to meet this level.
I looked on other websites to find the most the most practical website to trade on, because halifax is the bank i use, but others may want to look elsewhere.
The only problem is i am charged £11.50 per transaction for buying and 1% on selling, this is too high in my point of view ...

The Best I've Used
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
commendablechris
Advantages: ease of use, simple to set up, good value
Disadvantages: slow website, a little basic for some
I've been using Halifax Sharexpress for over a year now, and so far have found it be the best service I've used.
The website itself is a bit slow, but its very user friendly and always has the most used links down the ledthand side. I have never had any problems with the service, they have always done what they say they will. I have other accounts with companies like Selftrade and DJL, but find they are more cluttered and disjointed to use.
I ...

Always been decent for me
Review of Halifax Share Dealing Ltd by
Biondino
Advantages: Qucik, professional and easy, with helpful staff
Disadvantages: Stock quotes can usually be bettered elsewhere
Halifax ShareExpress tok a huge leap forward when it unveiled its genuine online share dealing service.
Previously, I had put up with the pleasant, helpful but time-consuming process of buying and selling shares by telephone; for anyone cash-strapped, or taking advantage of the service at work, the online interface is extremely easy to use and takes less than a minute form start to finish.
I have continued to speak to Halifax by telephone when ...
