Advantages: Helps with dry throats, nasal congestion, relaxes airways... Disadvantages: Very sweet, doesn't really help with painful sore throats.
What are they?
****************
Fruit flavoured pastilles - similar to boiled sweets that contain a fruit juice liquid centre. These are available in peach, strawberry and blackcurrant flavours.
What do they do?
******************
As well as fruit juice and glucose, these sweets contain menthol and eucalyptus oil to help sooth dry, sore throats.
Do they work?
***************
For a dry throat - yes, for a sore throat no. I tend to find the ... ...- when the throat starts to tingle and become dry. The pastilles do help to keep the throat a bit more moist as it does its thing but as soon as it becomes a full blown sore throat, it is probably more helpful to buy something like Strepsils - the ones that actually contain some kind of painkiller to numb the throat that seem to help.
I don't think there is any kind of analgesic element with the pastilles - certainly the oils don't have any pain ...

Advantages: Fruity , tasty , soothing , good price , nice flavour , menthol Disadvantages: POssubly a bit sweet for some
...nuts.
Although the trademark is Halls they are yet another product made by Cadbury Trebor Bassett .
Surprisingly they are made in Turkey .
Store in a cool dry place .
A packet weighs 45g .
Recommendation .
----------------------------
I may have to revise my initial statement regarding the beneficial effects of Soothers . Looking at the ingredients and how much better my throat is they have done some good . They are not medicine however . ... ...found the peach and raspberry a tasty combination . Much more than the Blackcurrant . I haven't tried the Cherry yet so who knows .
If buying an individual packet again I shall definitely go for the peach and raspberry . I loved the flavours and they are so gentle on your throat . I can see why the advert portrayed Soothers as kissing your neck . They certainly kissed my poorly throat better .
Thanks for reading

Advantages: taste nice, cheap Disadvantages: don't think they do any good
...the inventor of menthol-lyptus coughdrops, Halls has been acquired by other companies many times and is know a brand name owned by Cadbury Schweppes. Soothers come in four different flavours, those being Strawberry, Cherry, Blackcurrant and also Peach. On the packaging, it is differentiated a little by using the picture of the relevant fruit that the lozenger actually is and tailoring the colour of the soothers logo to blend in with the actual fruit ... ...it seems like with the Halls Soothers logo on it, however when trying to get each lozenger out of the packet, I dn't find that they are individually wrapped too well and find that the actual product comes out first with the wrapper to follow. The lozenger itself does smell of the relevant flavour. It has a hard shell which when you pop into your mouth and suck it disintegrates in time, leaving the lozenger to explode into a fruit syrup centre tasting ...

Advantages: Taste nice, soothe a throat Disadvantages: No medicine
...favourite pack of cough sweet, Halls Soothers. Each packet was £0.65 but this was a station and I know you can get them cheaper in places like Boots etc. Halls are quite an impressive company. According to their website they account for more than 50% of international cough drop sales and their Halls Soothers range is the UK's number 1 medicated confectionery product. Halls was actually started by two brothers, The Hall Brothers in 1893 and originally ... ...their cough drops now.
Halls Soothers are basically hard fruit sweets (boiled sweets) with a refreshing liquid centre. From the research I have done, these sweets seem to not be medicated. You can get various throat sweets such as Strepsils or Lockets that do have some medicine in them but I don't think Halls Soothers do, they are more just like a cough drop, intended to provide your throat with some moisture and soothe it when it is sore. There ...

Advantages: Soothing relief straight away - really does kiss your throat better! Disadvantages: The price of an individual pack!
It's that time of year again, where the cold weather has arrived, the heating's on full blast, and everyone is starting to be struck down with the horrid illnesses that winter brings.
My brother and mum have the cold bug at the moment, so i knew that it wouldn't be long until i ended up with it. In advance i went out and bought myself a packet of Soothers as i knew that soon my sore throat would be starting (that's usually the first sympton i get, ... ...sore throat did start, so i was glad to have my packet of soothers on hand.
I bought a single pack from my local Spar shop for 78p - yes i know it's dear for a single pack, but we are in a recession! However the price is worth the releif you get. You can buy them in three packs from your big supermarkets (Tesco, Asda, Wilko's etc..)
You can get Soothers in a variety of different flavours. Peach, Raspberry, Strawberry and Blackcurrant. I have tried ...
