Magnificent Halo!

Advantages: Fantastic story and a great playable character.
Disadvantages: It should have been possible to use the plasma sword.

Well what can I say. At a launch of a new console, the flagship games are always vitally important. If they don't sell, the console won't sell. Luckily for Microsoft, Halo:Combat Evolved has become one of the greatest first-person shooters of all time, selling over five million copies worldwide. A personal favourite for me, a game I'll never be able to forget, and a game I'll never stop playing...EVER. A true masterpiece, no one can deny Halo's dominance ...

Halo - Xbox

Advantages: Solid FPS, clean graphics, original utilisation of weapons system, unique veichles and solid characters in storyline
Disadvantages: level design could have used more development, some graphic framerate glitches

There are some people who regard Halo has the best thing to happen to FPS. Since the release of Halo the FPS genre has been revolutionised, with Halo becoming one of the most successful FPS in existance. Bungie and Microsoft have produced a real gem with Halo, an truly replayable game time after time. Halo puts you in control of Spartan 117 - a genetically and biologically enhanced super soldier fighting for the survival of humanity on the ring-world ...
...of Reach which had previously been destroyed by the powerful and merciless Covenant armadas intent on wiping out humanity from the galaxy. The game begins with you awakening from cyro-sleep to repel Covenant borders from your ship - The Pillar of Autumn. Halo's success was massive, with nearly six million copies of the game being sold in the space of two years. With original weapons and a unique storyline it is hardly surprising that this game rose ...

Halo - Xbox Evolved

Advantages: Awesome graphics, gameplay and story
Disadvantages: Music is a little repetitive

================== Halo – Combat Evolved ================== The Story – “bent on Humankind’s extermination, a powerful fellowship of alien races known as the Covenant is wiping out Earth’s fledgling interstellar empire. You and the other surviving defenders of a devastated colony-world make a desperate attempt to lure the alien fleet away from Earth. Combat just evolved into gaming greatness

Advantages: Graphics,Sound,Multiplayer,Single Player, the game is just great
Disadvantages: a few more vehicle multiplayer levels wouldnt have gone a miss

While I am fully aware that the last thing the world needs is another Halo review, especially one that isn't anything dramatically different from the other ones out there in content, I feel like writing about what has become one of my favourite games in a relatively short amount of time when compared to the others that make up that list. In case you don't know, Halo is a First-Person-Shooter, or FPS, in the vein of games like Doom and Quake, this ...
...the character you are playing as, with only the weapon you have equipped visible. Where Halo stood out from other such titles was that it allowed players to commandeer a variety of vehicles , including a Tank and a Jeep as well as Alien transport, and cruise about levels in them. When in control of these, the view changes so you can see the whole of the vehicle on the screen. The game's story is set far into the future, where Earth has colonised ...

Halo Review

Advantages: FPS king, graphics, sounds, structure
Disadvantages: Quite old, no live capability

HALO Every now and again a game comes along and blows everybody away. A game that sets a new standard for its particular genre or for games in general. Doom did it, Goldeneye did it and Gran Tourismo did it. Now its the turn of Halo. Setting a new standard of graphics and gameplay Halo stormed on to the scene as the flagship game for Microsofts big black box. It won awards, broke records and gained top reviews everywhere it went and became the biggest ...
...games ever made. When I first hooked up my Xbox on release day I put in a copy of Dead or Alive 3, I wanted a game that could give me a quick fix and show me what my new pride and joy was made of but it lasted no more than 5 minutes. The reason for this was Halo, it was lying next to the Xbox still in its wrapper with Master Chief staring at me, urging me to tear off the shiny cellophane and crank it up. I had been waiting for this moment for many ...

Fantastic game, especially for multi player

Advantages: Great fun, easy to pick up, great ideas, fantastic movement and characters
Disadvantages: No bots in multi player mode, need more multiplayer maps

I don't actually have an xbox and this is my first game review but I play Halo a lot with my friends on one of there xbox's. If we can't be arsed to go out, 4 or 5 of us sit in the lounge around a 25inch TV and play 4 player team games. A few beers and some Pringles tops off an enjoyable but nice and lazy evening! Some of you reading this may think this is a little sad and believe me I would've probably thought the same thing if were reading this ...
...The game is great. The controller is well designed to enable you to pick up the controls very easily. I tried to play multiplayer James Bond on the PS2 and it wasn't even in the same league as the xbox for comfort and ease of controls. The array of weapons in the game is good (having the regualar shotguns and machine guns along side all the alien guns), the artificial intelligence of the Bots is superb (the aliens hide, run away, sneak up on you ...

Combat evolved

Advantages: One of the finest first person shooters in history
Disadvantages: Over hyped

As I’m sure you already know; Halo was a big word in the games industry at the time of the Xbox release and spelt trouble for Nintendo and Sony. Originally destined for Apple Mac and Playstation2 Microsoft bought the company Bungie taking the rights for this title with it. Halo became a really vital release for MS because it really did help to shift Xbox’s into peoples homes with all the media attention it received, although I feel it ...
...title. What separates Halo from the masses of First Person Shooters flooding the market these days is firstly linked to the Xbox which has helped to make the huge levels, groundbreaking AI, crisp visuals and atmospheric surround sound possible. Bungie have spent 4 years to bring you great looking and sounding aliens and alien weaponry, including turrets, aircraft and hovercraft. Maybe nothing astoundingly new but add the human weaponry and the other ...

Advantages: Stunning graphics Great gameplay
Disadvantages: You won't leave home for weeks

Tired of clogging up my PC hard drive with games that now seem to use over 1GB of my poor hard disk, I decided to buy an X-box. At about £160 with two games and boasting the specifications of a pretty good games PC, I happily parted with my cash and at the same time bought a copy of the highly acclaimed Halo - Combat evolved. A natural legend

Advantages: Brilliant gameplay, excellent AI.
Disadvantages: none

The name Halo is well known amongst xbox fans. It was most probably the sole reason that stopped xbox from failing, and helped to increase its unit sales of the console many times more than they would have been. One thing many people don't realise is the effort that went into Halo, and one can only truly enjoy the game if they are a die-hard xbox fan. I myself am. At midnight, on the day that the xbox was to be released, I stood inside Electronics ...
...held, and there were free soft drinks and crisps for all. As i waited in the queue to get my xbox, already prepaid for, my excitement was bubbling. A large digital clock showed the remaining time before selling could begin, and everyone watched it with an eager eye. The ever-slowing time eventually passed, and soon tills were ringing with the sound of cash, and people disappeared into the night, an xbox richer. Being distributed were small gift bags, ...

Halo the finest FPS ...until Halo 2...

Advantages: Very impressive launch title for the Xbox, fluid graphics and the assault rifle
Disadvantages: some later levels feel a bit repetative

Being a big fan of PC and console games I awaited the release of the XBOX with big anticipation, its potential to be the most powerful console to grace our homes appeared to be backed up by game industry press releases. I had been reading all the press releases and one statement was common across the games industry…..buy a XBOX just to Play Halo. The best so far...

Advantages: Brilliant graphics, excellent atmospheric sounds, absorbing gameplay, addictive 2 player option
Disadvantages: totally addictive,

Halo is a futuristic shoot em up / adventure type game. Don't let this put you off. With a massive array of weapons available as you go through, the excitement keeps building. This game is played from a first person perspective with your gun in hand. The game actually starts with a little training mode, which is very brief. This is a really good idea if, like most people, the game is played without reading the manual. The training takes literally ...
...As you start the game properly, you will be amazed at the graphical capabilities of the xbox, being used to great effect by the game. The sound too is amazingly atmospheric and it helps to build the feeling for the game. When the game begins, you have only a pistol and an SA80 automatic rifle. It soon becomes apparent that these weapons are generally ineffective against the alien forces with which you have to do battle. This means that after killing ...

Halo. The most fun you can get from an XBOX.

Advantages: Multiplayer. Weapons. Vehicles.
Disadvantages: Lack of sleep. Halo 2. Lack of food.

The story starts in the year 2552 with our hero, "Master Chief", a cyborg super-soldier, onboard a spacecraft known as "The Pillar of Autumn". The game quickly throws the player into the thick of the action. The Pillar of Autumn is under attack by a group of aliens known as the Covenant. The game revolves around a ringed planet known as "Halo". The game play is smooth, and well thought out. The graphics and sound (Dolby 5.1) are first class. Single ...
...you will never bore of. In Halo you can only carry two guns at a time, but in a way this makes the game more of a challenge. You can choose from Pistols, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Rocket Launchers, as well as a whole range of alien weapons and grenades. Muliplayer Co-operation mode is great (would have been better if it could be played over system link). It’s the same as the single player mode (apart from there are two of you!). ...

Halo The Best F.P.S of ALL TIME!

Advantages: An exciting first person shooter with great graphics and sound. An exceptionally good multiplayer system.
Disadvantages: A bit short and the only thing that changes on the different difficulty settings is the number of enemies.

If you thought Timesplitters 2 was the best first person shooter then you have definitely not played Halo. Halo is a game for the X-BOX which is created by Bungie and published by Microsoft. When I first played Halo I thought to myself, 'WOW' and I am still thinking that, even today, when I see the case on top of my X-BOX. If you have never played the game you are probably wondering why I am making this game out to be so good, well, I am about to ...

One day a badly damaged spaceship returned to the military headquarters planet, which is near earth. The crew said that an un-stoppable alien warship had attacked them. Humans eventually knew those aliens as the covenant. It then became vital that the covenant were not shown where Earth was. A few years later the covenant entered the ...
