THE STORY
We moved house and when I unpacked my monitor it looked fine, when I plugged it in and set the computer up it didn't work properly. Googled the problem and the techguy came up with the answer when the symptoms were explained: it's ****ed.
Having spent so much time hassling BT to get the broadband set up, being without due to lack of monitor was going to be a big problem, so I set off in search of a cheap (I'd just moved house remember) ... ...kelkoo-ing came up with this baby for £89.99 plus vat at Misco. It's 19 inch widescreen, so was an improvement on the previous 17 inch and at under a hundred I thought "why not?"
ORDERING IT
Simple ordering on line from Misco who confirmed the order by email and telephone the same day and dispatched it the next. Being a cheap skate (even though I was desperate) I paid only for three day delivery, but it arrived on the right date and was well packaged ...

Advantages: Quick response, good contrast ratio, looks good Disadvantages: Speakers a joke, buy your own cable and no height adjust on stand
I have owned this monitor for about a year now and I am not disappointed in its performance. Indeed it would be safe to say it has never missed a beat. No dead pixels upon unpacking was a relief as you can never be sure when a display is this cheap. I thought they would have to scrimp in places to allow this specification for this price.
And indeed they have. But in a clever way as it shouldn't effect the user in any way. I speak of the inbuilt ... ...to the speakers I don't personally know of a user that uses their monitors speakers. Far better sound quality can be achieved with even the most basic set of speakers so just ignore this. As to the no DVI cable, then knowledge is power. Just buy one that fits your budget as prices vary enormously.
The monitor itself works just brilliantly for the price. On DVD playback there is no ghosting thanks to the 5ms response time. Game playing is also faultless ...

Advantages: Good visuals, inbuilt speakers Disadvantages: Tinny sound, slight confusion at set-up
I got this monitor free with a computer package deal from RL Supplies. I paid £10 for one day delivery and it came right on time. The man I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and friendly, so I would definitely order from RLSupplies again.
Since the screen came as part of a package deal I can't really put a price on it, but I can however say it was very good value for money.
I mainly use my computer for websurfing, including games which can ... ...absolutely fine running these. The colours are vibrant, the edges are solid and easily defined, and the screen can easily keep up with whatever I happen to be running on it. This includes things like the visualiser on i-tunes.
The design is fairly simple. It has a silver frame around the screen on a basic black stand. The screen itself is only a few centimetres deep to it's quite space efficient. The stand however is about 15cm by 20, but at least ...

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, very good value for money, no dead pixels Disadvantages: Bad speakers, no DVI cable
This is an excellent monitor in every way. I recieved this monitor recently as a gift, and the quality and clarity is outstanding.
This monitor has an excellent picture quality compared to any other similar monitor in this price bracket - the 700:1 contrast ratio means that it can display colours more clearly and have a better colour clarity, which allows for a much better picture quality overall. The 5ms response time is also very good for such ... ...turn on, and has all the buttons situated on the right hand side. There is a dedicated auto-adjust button, as well as a menu and volume buttons. These are unobtrusive but work well. The OSD also works very well for this monitor, and has all the functions that would be expected for a monitor like this.
This monitor is widescreen, and has a natural resolution of 1440x900, which is perfect for any application or film. DVDs look excellent on it, as ...

Advantages: Good Picture Quality, Wide Screen, Screen Doesnt Rainbow on Touch Disadvantages: No DVI cable, Terrible Speakers (if you find even bother to connect them!)
This monitor is great quality, and comes with a two year warranty. For those of you who are completely useless with configuring monitors, it has a little button you can press on the side which means it sorts itself out.
Its fantastic for watching movies and if you configure your screen resolution on your computer just right, you get a ridiculously large desktop which is great if you have a desktop cluttered with short cuts. It does come with a useless ... ...buy a monitor for its sound quality....
A large monitor obviously requires a large amount of room, from front to back it takes up about 7-8inches so make room!
It doesn't come with an DVI cable, (a cable which connects the monitor to the white port on your computer with loads of squares in it.) but if you don't have a DVI port you'll be fine! ...

Advantages: Cheap, good picture Disadvantages: sensitive to accidental screen touch
I bought this Hanns G 19" widescreen monitor for £110 just over two years ago. It is the first flat sreen monitor i have owned. It looks good, works well and for the price at the time was an absolute bargain. Now cheaper i think it would stil be a bargain. Except for holidays i have used this monitor everyday and have had no reliability issues at all. It displays a really good picture for the price. The only problem i have with it is that i managed ... ...ago, maybe over a year ago and the mark still remains on the screen. This isnt noticable as much unless the screen is off or displaying dark/black images. I am not sure if all screens are like this or just that is more sensitive to any touch. I would recommend this monitor to anyone who is looking for a cheap monitor with no hassles. ...

Advantages: All round excellent monitor Disadvantages: Base is quite deep - makes a thin monitor a little pointless
This is really great value for money, the picture quality, colour and refresh rate are hard to fault. It feels and looks pretty robust which adds to the value for money.
The base is quite large considering how flat the screen is, which is a little disapointing, and for me the VGA cable was a little bit too short but for most PC users i'm sure it's sufficient.
I happily watch the odd film on this moniter and it's great for the job - it is also really ...

Advantages: Cheap, Rather large, pleasing to the eye. Disadvantages: Speakers are poor, no DVI cable supplied.
This is probably one of the best, cheapest and best looking widescreen monitors available and I strongly recommend it! I got this as a gift for christmas and have been using it with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The screen size is immense when it comes out the box yet you will still find it clears up space on your desk. I have an extremely small desk and it freed up desk entirely, I now have space for a proper size keyboard and mouse which is ...

Advantages: Great high-quality picture, Good Value for money Disadvantages: Low quality speakers
This is a absolute bargain. I decided to upgrade from a 15" CRT and i am glad i did.
The monitor has a 5ms response time Which is ace for playin games with...and a overall resolution of 1440x900 and displays up to 16.2 million colors with a contrast ratio of 700:1
It has a VGA port and a DVI port unfortunately it only comes with a VGA cable but you can pick one up quite cheep these days.
The only bad thing is the speakers are like low quality ... ...I think this would go well with a 2.1 for movies and games if your not using a head-set.

Advantages: Cheap, moderately good picture, contrast is satisfactory Disadvantages: fiddley buttons and some ghosting issues on units
A nice looking unit but a few models have or have had problems with ghosting including my first one. Apart from that the colour range is superb and the contrast isnt bad for a low end flat panel monitor no real problems with pixels dying but the control buttons are fiddley for those of us with large hands or fingers! All in all not bad for the money you pay for this unit but dont pay over £150 for it there are better monitors out there for that much. ... ...which there are ones for both DVi In and also Analog Vga. Have used this for Xbox 360 which gives near HD performance in both clarity and sharpness. The refresh rate is 5ms which is not excellent but not that bad either, mine is set to 1440x900 res, and the screen is easy to adjust for use with games and dvds with the widescreen resolution, watching films is also a treat as most software applications can adapt screen size through anamorphic settings ...
