Advantages Advantages Strong stuff that does the job!

Disadvantages Disadvantages The 'Original' fragrance smells horrid!

What better time to review a product than when you’ve just finished it? I have just squeezed the last of my Harpic Limescale Remover down the toilet – literally! – so thought I would give my opinion on its performance… I am not loyal to any particular brand of toilet cleaner, but rather look out for special offers which this Harpic was at a pound at my local supermarket. I read the hype on the bottle in situ and it all sounded pretty good. I bought the ‘Original’ fragrance although I know it is produced in other fragrances as well. The bottle is dark blue with an eye-catching plastic label ... more

I live in a hard water area and although I clean my toilet several times a week I noticed that the bowl was starting to get caked in limescale. Not only is this unsightly it’s not particularly hygienic either! As it was not too thick I decided to tackle this before it got much worse. Toilet duck was the first cleaner I opted for and I opted for this simply because it was the cheapest one that claimed to remove 100% of all limescale. If you’ve read my review on this product you’ll know that I was less than impressed with its limescale removing properties and so on my next shopping trip I ... more

When I first moved into my hosue, it was incredibly grotty - particularly the toilet which was full of limescale and calcium deposits . I tried everything to get rid of them , a whole barrage of cleaning products, as well as some less traditional techniques, such as leaving cola to soak it overnight . It reduced it, but I never managed to get rid of it completely, and in fact many of the products I used seemed to whiten the limescale rather than actually removing it . Then I came across Harpic 100% Limescale Remover - I figured trying out one more think on my less than lovely loo couldn't hurt ... more

Living in a hardwater area, my mum used have a constant battle with limescale and all those calcium deposits in the loo, before she found this wonderful cleaner. She used to have to bleach it clean, which in effect, just stains it white so you cannot see it, but we all knew the stains were still there. It was so hard cleaning the loo, I despaired. Harpic 100% limescale remover has changed all that!! Effect: It literally removes all stains, and leaves the loo looking sparkling clean and smelling clean Ease of use: It really is easy to use. You squirt all around under the rim last thing at night ... more

As I live in a hard water area in which I live, the toilet bowl got stained with limescale and nothing I have tried in the past has worked. When walking round Tesco the other day, my partner and I decided to give this a go. It comes in a blue 750ml bottle with a red cap, so its appearance, to me, is nothing special. On the Tesco website, it costs £1.62, which I think is reasonable. The three claims that are made on the front of the bottle are as follows: 1)Attacks limescale better than bleach 2)Removes stains 3)Kills all germs In my opinion, the Harpic works well on all three counts. As most ... more

    Advantages Advantages None.

Disadvantages Disadvantages DAngerous. No place in a family bathroom.

This product is DANGEROUS. It containers HYDROCHLORIC acid which might shift limescale but it also does irreversible damage to bathroom taps and fittings made of chrome or stainless steel. Billed as a "liescale Remover" it is actually solely for toilet bowls. If you get it o metal parts of your toilet they will be ruined. NO warning to this effect on the bottle. Caused over £1000 worth of damage in my bathroom. There is nothing on the bottle to tell you that is DISSOLVES chrome and ruins steel items. Shameful marketing, dreadful product from Reckitts!! Should be called Harpic Toilet bowl ... more
