    Advantages Advantages Breathtaking tale

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince – J K Rowling Why read this book? I have already enjoyed the previous five novels in this epic tale of witchcraft and wizardry. I was eager to continue on the journey with Harry and his friends. The cover depicts flames and this grabbed my attention, whilst the blurb on the back cover intrigued me. I had no intentions of missing this one and looked forward to a good comfort read. Short synopsis… Harry Potter is a very special person. Already famous in the magical world, he now holds the title of the Chosen One. The sixth year at Hogwarts School of ... more

Advantages Advantages Thrilling Plot and Fantastic style of writing

Disadvantages Disadvantages Is very dark and not suitable for younger children

**What Is It?** Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the 6th book in the Harry Potter series. This best seller has a staggering 607 pages but is only the third biggest book so far. This book comes in paperback or hardback version. **Why Buy It?** If like me your a big Harry Potter fan like me then you HAVE to read it as you want to knew what happens next. If your not as serious as us fans then you may read the book just to see if you like the Potter series or not. But the reason a lot of people buy it is because there children want to read it but can i stress that this is not actually ... more

Advantages Advantages Great interesting sections that go over Voldemort's past.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Misleading title, the true identity of the prince bears no significance to the plot.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince What is it ? *********** Pretty obvious, but apparently not everyone has heard of Harry Potter. This is the sixth instalment of the Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling. I've always been a fan of the Harry Potter books, especially during the first few years when all the hype was at its peak. The 5th and 6th book have come out very slowly and with each book through the series, each academic year seems to be packed with more events and so each of the books are often bulkier and longer. However, after the fourth book I started to become a little disillusioned ... more

Advantages Advantages Gripping Plot, Great character development

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes a little while to get moving

OK, time for another review - and this was one that started at midnight the night it was released. Standing in the Queue outside Potterkars chatting to some students about our theories about this book, it was pleasantly warm, cheerful atmosphere and generally people were excited. I'd been issued with instructions not to come home without at least two copies, and looking at the mass of people waiting I was likely to get lynched or mugged for the books. Damn. Midnight rolled around and the bleary eyed staff opened the door to a magical world for all of us. Naturally, there was a crush to get ... more

Advantages Advantages Gripping, Easy to read, Really nice to read

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some chapters are boring

I have been a fan of Harry potter since the first book, I read, that book but then had a rest and had not read any of the other Harry potter books. I just went to see the films, I went to see Harry potter and the order of the Pheonix film and Luna Lovegood being in that film made me such a big fan of Luna. I just wanted to see more of Luna so I went to read this book. I got a lot more than just my Luna lovegood, I also got a gripping adventure from start to finish. It's Harry's sixth year in Hogwarts, the book jogs your memory of what happened in the last book it does this in a novel way with ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice change from the typical Harry book

Disadvantages Disadvantages Took a while for the actual story to come to light

Harry Potter After 10 years of the films there's no need - in some individuals opinions - to read the book although I'd argue that sometimes the book is a lot better than the film and in this case it is. Harry Potter is an orphan child with parents who he'd incidentally been told died in a car crash but actually hadn't and that he was a Wizard and not just some scrawny boy for Dudley (Harry's cousin) to bully him. In Harry Potter you watch/imagine Harry growing through seven years at Hogwarts (well five really) and how his love churns for Ginny and how he always seems to save the day. What ... more

Advantages Advantages Favourite characters and locations return.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The ending is brilliant, but sad :(

This is the sixth book in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The Children's Edition has an extremely engagin front cover, with a drawing of Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore inside a ring of flames. The back cover, bathed in a mysterious green glow, depiects a goblet with green liquid inside it. This covert art is by Jason Cockcroft. The story in itself, in some ways, follows the same plot line as many of the previous Harry Potter novels. Harry is at Privet Drive for the summer, yearning to be anywhere but there. However, Dumbledore when Dumbledore writes to say he is coming to collect ... more

    Advantages Advantages Gripping story.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hard to put down.

Love is in the air in Harry’s 6th year at Hogwarts, as he, Ron and Hermione’s hormones start raging. However, love is not the only thing on Harry’s mind; the whole wizarding world now knows Lord Voldermort has returned. Rowling’s witty plot shows her talent spectacularly, at the word go, we are immersed in the gap between Sirius’s death and the return to Hogwarts, the first chapter is an ingenious way to recap the period between the two books. An outstanding review of Lord Voldermort’s past contributes to the outstanding storyline. What I liked so much about this one is the attention to detail ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter 6)[Children's Edition] - J.K. Rowling by elliepotten 17/01/2009
The sixth of the seven Harry Potter books, this does not disappoint. As the end of the series draws closer, the tension is tangible and the darkness hangs heavily on both the characters' and the reader's hearts. In this instalment, Harry must delve into his enemy's past and discover how he must go about his quest to kill Lord Voldemort once and for all. In the meantime new skills are being learned, new love is blossoming, and new threats are being uncovered at every turn. Once again Jo Rowling proves her ability to move, shock and enthrall.

    Advantages Advantages fantastic and engrosing

Disadvantages Disadvantages you just cant stop

This book is one of the best in the Harry Potter series. It has so much tension that you just can not put it down. This book shows the strengths and weaknesses of Harry Potter and also shows how strong his friendship with Ron and Hermione is. This book has lots of twists to it and you get to learn more about Voldermort also. You see how he became the Wizard he is and why it is Harry that he must fight against. The parts between Harry and Dumbledore also show how there relationship has grown and how the two characters have an understanding between them. It also shows that Dumbledore has a great ... more
