Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone
-------------------------------------------- ---------------
It was the christmas of 1997 and everyone was in a exited and anticipated mood to open their gifts. I was the first one to be down the stairs to fetch my breakfast then have a look at my presents. I went through the usual shampoo, chocolates, shower gels and all of the boring little ... ...the colourful cover read " Harry Potter " and the Philosopher's Stone by JK Rowling...

...Wild about Harry...
==============
Harry Potter is an unlikely hero. Believing both his parents died in a car crash giving him a lightning scar to prove it, Harry is left with his only remaining relatives who despise him. His Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and cousin Dudley (the Dursleys), finds himself average at school, with no friends, and no idea that he is soon to become an eleven year old wizard. Harry isn't a boy genius like Artemis Fowl. He ... ...================
And that's why the Harry Potter series has become so popular since it's publication in 1997. Harry is just like us, over-coming the problems of growing-up, going to a new school (even though it's a school for witches and wizards) and dealing with the demons of doubt and fear that plague everybody.
JK Rowling must also be praised for her creativity. She draws from all sorts of mythology, from Ancient Greece to Folk lore, giving ...

...as myself - self proclaimed Harry Potter nut - has yet to review anything Potter related. This is because I love this series so much, I'm not sure my reviews could do the books justice. However, with less than a month to go before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I think the time is right to try and persuade those who have not read any Harry Potter, that this is something they need to read!

If you don't know the story of Harry Potter, then you have perhaps been living on the moon for the past ten years. Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy, until one day mysterious letters start to arrive. His overbearing Aunt and Uncle don't want him to read the letters, and so do all that is in their power to stop him from reading them. The opening of the book pulls ...

...the boxed set of the Harry Potter books from my friend, and although this review is technically about the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone, I have to recommend that you read them all! Mr. and Mrs. Dursley live there with their beloved son Dudley and an impostor called Harry who lives under the stairs amongst the spiders. ... ...everyone he meets. Harry believes that he lives with the Dursleys because his parents were killed in a car accident when he was just a baby, but little does he know.... The first time Harry realises something strange is going on is when he reaches the age of 11 and a letter arrives addressed to him. He has never had a letter before and is really excited, but in an extreme act of cruelty, Mr. Dursley confiscates the letter. Harry thinks nothing of ...

The Dursleys give only old and outworn clothes of Dudley to Harry, because Harry is, however, the whole opposite of his big and very much thick cousin, looks whole in it rather than ...

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling and is the subject of the soon to be released and much hyped film, with an all-star cast, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. This was also the title of the American release of the book. Harry Potter is a fairly ordinary boy, who was orphaned as a baby (he has always been told his parents died in a car accident) and has been brought up by his Aunt and Uncle, Vernon and Petunia Dursley. Unbeknown to Harry, the Dursleys know a little more about Harry’s history, and what REALLY happened to his parents, than they are letting on. If Harry had known this, he would have had an explanation for his appalling treatment throughout ...

I’d heard a lot of good things about the series, from friends and family, and on the news of course, what with the movie having just come out, the fourth book selling out in hours in bookshops up and down the country, and the fifth book and second movie being ever increasingly anticipated by young and old alike. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is the first of the Harry Potter books and it is about Harry's first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy.
There are four books in total so far (and three more to come) - one per school year. You should always read the Harry Potter books in the correct sequence, which is:
1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner ... ...you see a book called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, this is not an additional book, it is just the US version of volume I.
Although I don't think that there is anybody out there who has not yet read this book nor seen the film, I'll summarise some of the book's story:
It all starts the night when Harry's parents had been killed by You-Know-Who (Lord Voldemort), but surprisingly baby Harry himself did survive the attack, which as a result ...
