Three is a magic number
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by e_coleuk

Advantages: A darker plot, a stonger realism, a greater adventure
Disadvantages: Younger children may find this book frightening at times.

...as this book is about Harry growing up, and children have a great capacity for learning and understanding. Early in the book we discover murderer, Sirius Black, has escaped from the Dementors of Azkaban. To make matters worse he is believed to be the wizard that told Voldemort the whereabouts of Harry’s parents, resulting in their murder by the darkest wizard of modern times. During the nights before his escape, Black was heard sleep-talking, ... Read review

Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by BawBaw

Advantages: Exciting, interesting, touching. Messages that transcend time and place.
Disadvantages: The writing itself, unlike the messages, is sometimes less than inspiring.

...the plot lines that pervade Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, third in the series of J. K. Rowling's "children's" books on the world of Harry Potter, boy wizard. The real theme of the book, however, has to do with the nature of love--which, of course, includes friendship. In The Prisoner of Azkaban, Rowling explores friendship over two generations--through Harry and his friends, Ron and Hermione, as well as through the lingering influences ... Read review

Can Rowling work her Magic again
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by jools30

Advantages: more Potter magic
Disadvantages: none

...passed in the life of Harry Potter. Can the third year of his schooling at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry be as exciting and captivating as the first two? So often before, I have read a series of books and whilst some just keep getting better, others distinctly run out of steam as the series progresses. So which was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to be? A mediocre re-writing of the previous books in the series, or a fresh ... Read review

ANOTHER Year At Hogwarts...
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by Mattroberts

Advantages: A good read, good twist, goo writing, good all round!
Disadvantages: A bit childish at times for older readers.

...the third book in the Harry Potter series. Some people could’ve finished it in under a day, but I like to take in what I read and do it over a length of time. I began to read it exactly a week before, and that was only for one reason. I’d read so many reviews on the NEW Harry Potter book – Order of the phoenix – I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Why did everyone talk about it highly? What was so interesting that ... Read review

Dementors, Dogs and Deception
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by bethybaby

Advantages: It's a Harry Potter book and will be instantly loved
Disadvantages: Too small to mention

...those who haven’t read about Harry before, here’s a little introduction… Harry Potter lives with his aunt and uncle, Vernon and Petunia Dursley, because his parents were killed when he was just a baby. His family hates him and Harry had believed that he was destined to a life of drudgery and torment at Stonewall High, a local comprehensive. But, when he was eleven years old, Harry discovered that he was a wizard and went off ... Read review

...man called Hagrid who told Harry that he was a wizard. Harry also discovered that he had been told more than one lie while living with the Dursleys – his parents hadn’t actually died in a car crash like the Dursleys had told him, they had actually been killed by the most evil wizard of all time – Lord Voldemort. Soon enough, Harry was off learning magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he has learned magic for ... Read review

What a tangled web she weaves...
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by Pumpkin

Advantages: Fantastic book, the best by far in the Harry Potter series.
Disadvantages: None

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book in the Harry Potter series by the prizewinning writer J. K. Rowling. Having read and re-read all four of the books in the series so far, I would say that this is without a doubt the best one by far. The problem is this is not reflected in my ratings, as I have already given the first two books five stars! I just wish I could give this one a higher rating. As before, the book starts with ... Hurry Pitter and the Pensioner of Axminster
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by KarenUK

Advantages: great last few chapters, nice to read more of Harry & Co's adventures
Disadvantages: Not as good as the second book

...I have just finished reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This follows the third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for our friend, Harry Potter – not forgetting the wonderful Ron Weasley and the rather irritating but good hearted Hermoine Granger (who is much less annoying in the book than she was in the film!). Just for the record, I loved the film, but wasn’t so impressed with the first book. However, ... Read review

Intrigue and surprize dominate this book
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by Simoncook1

Advantages: A great story and beleivable characters make this a great book for all the family.
Disadvantages: A little dark and scary and maybe not suitable for younger children.

The Harry Potter series is quickly becoming a modern day classic as children all around the world enjoy the wonders of the world of Hogwarts. As I write this opinion, a movie is being filmed by Time Warner telling the tale of the sorcerer’s (or philosopher’s) stone. J K Rowling’s has produced a magical world in which magic exists and good fights evil. Magical creatures of all sizes and shapes are alive and well in this mystical adventure. The ... Read review

Darker and better
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by Bryn_Pearson

Advantages: very strong plot
Disadvantages: might be hard for some younger readers to follow.

...impresses me most about the Harry Potter books is the incredible skill with which the plots, and their solutions, are woven. There's many a thriller writer who could learn a trick or two from J. K Rowling. She presents almost everything you need to know to make sense of what is happening, holds back the fragments that knit it all togther, and them amazes you as the pieces start sliding neatly into place. The plot then. (You can follow this even ... Read review

The Cult Book - Volume III
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by Michael-S

Advantages: excellent read, thrilling, enchanting
Disadvantages: none that I can think of

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the book about Harry Potter's third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. There are four books in total so far (and three more to come) - one per school year. You should always read the Harry Potter books in the correct sequence, which is: 1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 4. Harry Potter ... Read review

Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by princesssoapy

Advantages: Truly magical, amazing and unput downable!
Disadvantages: None at all.

...story of the young wizard Harry Potter, and his increasing ability to cheat death. The first two books saw Harry in his first and second years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the this third book takes him through the third year. The story seems to run along the same plot lines as the first two with a great deal of the story based on the new lessons that Harry and his friends, Ron and Hermione are taking along with the new Teachers ... Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by dave27

Advantages: Immense story telling
Disadvantages: A bit too dark

...the dave27 opinion on HP3, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban... Harry Potter is now 13 years old. As each dreaded and dragging day of the summer holidays passes, he hates the awful Dursley family - bull necked Uncle Vernon, bony Aunt Petunia and the gargantuan Dudley - more and more. Now, however, another, even more despicable, Dursley is bearing down upon Harry with all her terrible might and making his life truly miserable - the awesome ... Read review

...payment. On with the show. Harry Potter, for anyone living on planet Earth and doesn't know by now, is a wizard. The well-publicized novels, and now one of many future motion pictures, delve deep into an entertaining world of wizardry and magic concentrated around the school of 'Hogwarts', where Harry, now in his third year of education there, accompanied by his two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, continue their studies of magic ... Advantages: Unputdownable especially at the end
Disadvantages: None although I did nearly miss my bus

...third in the series of Harry Potter books by J K Rowling and what a page-turner it was! In my opinion it is the most exciting of the three that I have read so far.
