3 Stars Jam with a Fruity Hart! Review with images 25/02/2011

Advantages Advantages Sweet and Tasty, High quality fruits used.

Disadvantages Disadvantages More expensive than others. For me, BIG ungainly lumps of fruit....

Firstly, I'll forego all the obvious Bob Marley style jokes about jam and get straight to the Hart of the matter. (Oh...!) I have been a fan of various Jams/Jellyies, Conserves and Marmalades since I was ye high, and distinctly remember freaking my brother out by having a raspberry jam and mature chedder sandwich in our teens, both of which he can't stand! I'm always on the look out for new or different jams to sample, and have been aware of the Hartley's brand for some years, and currently buy the 'No Bits' line they produce. Deciding on a change of style, I brought the 340g jar of the 'Best' ... more

Advantages Advantages A wonderful jam with many uses

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not that great for Weight watchers

Hartleys Best Strawberry Jam Simply the best. I was pleasantly surprised to see this newest favourite of my family’s on this weeks Product of the Week. I picked this up during my last shop at Tesco because I had heard it was really tasty and thought I’d give it a go. Hartleys are a well know and established manufactor that have produced many conserves over just as many years. ~~~Price ~~~ I first brought a 250g jar for £1.35 in Tesco. However, I did the following week; pick up 2 of the 340g jars for £2.50. These 340g jars are normally £1.49 each, so knowing I was baking jam tarts thought the 2 ... more

Advantages Advantages It's delicious and versatile

    Disadvantages Disadvantages High calorie content

Everyone who knows me will agree that I am a terrible cook. Luckily my other half is a fantastic cook, he enjoys cooking and prepares most meals in the household, however, on Wednesdays, my day off, I normally have a go at something culinary, more often than not it ends in disaster. This week my son has put in a special request for jam tarts knowing full well that, surely, even I can't go wrong with such a simple recipe! I won't bore you with the details but, basically, it went wrong, my pastry was inedible so went in the bin and out came the ready rolled shop bought pastry and, the essential ... more

4 Stars Jammed With Fruit Review with images 25/02/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages very tasty, nice texture

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive compared to other jams

I’ve got to admit that I am a bit of a jam snob. On the odd occasion that I buy a jar of the stuff I spend ages scouring the supermarket shelves and comparing the fruit contents of the various brands before plumping for one of the premium brands. My favourite jam is raspberry and I love a jam with loads of seeds and bits of fruit inside. My daughter is different; she prefers strawberry jam and the less resemblance to real fruit the better. What will the pair of us make of Hartley’s Best Strawberry jam? Jam is a preserve made from both the flesh and juice of fruits. I remember going fruit ... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant taste, easy to use and great texture. Good price in my opinion

Disadvantages Disadvantages None that I have found

I have to admit that I have never been a big fan of jam, this is probably because it is very rare that I tend to eat toast so have never really had the need to eat it, I was never even a fan of jam sandwiches when my friends used to have them at school. I was however having some friends stay over a few weeks ago and as we are not ones for having a big english breakfast I decided to go continental and brought in some croissants and pastries as well as getting in some bread to toast. With this I decided to buy some jam and as I do most of my shopping in Tesco I browsed the shelves there and was ... more

Hartley’sA well known brand for jams, Hartleys is part of the Premier Foods family. As advertised on their website, the jam was made by a Mr William Hartley in Lancashire, when his consignment of jam never arrived one time. He made a jam of his own and, well, the results are here today. It’s one of the biggest jam manufacturers in the UK, and a household brand name. Hartley’s produce jams, jellies and tinned fruit in a variety of types and flavours. Their jams come in three varieties: - Hartley’s Best – tradition jam - Hartley’s No Bits – a smoother jam; exactly the same as normal but without ... more

**ORiginally posted on dooyoo in 2008** Hartley's Best Strawberry Jam Hartley's is a well known company in Jam products and has been around for a good few years. The classic of jams is indeed the strawberry flavour and this is of course very favourite. I have only recently started buying jam again because I realised that it is a perfect sandwich filling for Jack to eat. Hartley's best strawberry jam is made with 45 grams of fruit per 100 grams. In one standard jar you get 340 grams of product. There is a smaller jar available to buy and this is probably around two thirds of the size and about ... more

Hartleys really do make the best jam around! Hartleys is a well known trustworthy brand and are more well known for their fruity jelly's! This strawberry jam is the nicest i have tasted. I have tried cheaper brands, and more expensive but i always come back to this Hartleys jam. The taste is just perfect, it is very fruity, sweet and smooth. It is not sickly or artifical tasting. It tastes of real strawberries, and i hate it when you get a whole strawberry on your toast, but this jam only has small parts of strawberry in. I dont like it to be completely smooth with no bits, but i dont like ... more

5 Stars Best Jam You Can Buy! Review with images 27/02/2011
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Tastes good!

Disadvantages Disadvantages None really, price could be cheaper, but it is fair.

I brought mine for 99 pence in a corner shop. Well worth it! I brought this product because it was the only jam they had in at the time. I usually buy cheap jam as I'm not fussy about quality. I think it taste's really nice, and for the money it is quite good value. You get a good sized pot, must have lasted me about 25 pieces of toast. The packaging is a glass jar, and is thick so shouldn't smash easily. I think that it taste's best from the fridge, however if you do put it in the fridge, it goes quite clumpy. I find it best to stir it with a knife while it's in the jar still to help spread ... more
