This time its the debut novel by a writer now very well regarded and reguarly tops the best seller lists. Im ususaly very picky with books, if it doesnt grab me by the end of the first chapter it gets put on the bookshelf never to be seen again. Harvest was one of those books that I read in 2 sittings and i've read it again and again. I found it in a local bookshop for £5.99 (bargain). The story is based on the idea of human organ harvesting. I love Tess Gerritsen’s books and have read almost all of them. I really enjoy the Rizzoli series and when I bought the latest one I got Harvest for free. This is Gerritsen’s first novel and is the one which shot her to fame, so it was only fair that I read this one as well. Along with all the rest of Gerritsens books there are plenty of sub plots to keep the reader guessing. This book is a medical drama based on her own knowledge or working in a hospital. I have read all of Tess Gerritsen's books, and the jane rizzoli series is fantastic. Although this book is not part of this series, it a still an amazing read. Because of Tess' work background she makes a fantastic writer. She always keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you wanting more. This was a great book. The main character Dr Abby Di Mattio is a surgical student. After discovering that transplants aren't legal, she begins her own investigation. This is my first time reading Gerritsen and I am hooked already, having been a fan of Patricia Conrwell for years it is refreshing to read someone who writes so differently but just as well. I was unable to putt his book down and read five chapters in on sitting. I have even found myself buying a well known ladies magazine because Gerritsens second novel is part of a free gift. The storyline of the illegal hearts is "heartrending" you really do feel for the families involved and its is one of those reads that have you hooked form one page to the next.
