Harvester Restaurants

Advantages: Always one close by, quick turn out, children are welcome and catered for.
Disadvantages: Toilets can be quite disturbing, not all dishes taste as good they are described.

Harvester Restaurants Restaurant Reviewed: Stag and Hounds Winchester Road Basingstoke Hampshire (next to Comet and Home Base) The Harvester chain of Restaurants have over 2000 outlets across the United Kingdom and owned and operated by Mitchells and Butlers, who claim to be the UK's leading operator of managed pubs, bars and restaurants. ..."have you been to a harvester before" question as you walk to your seats and the "help yourself to salad". The waitress will hand you over a large menu (these things are over 40 cms in length) and as you try to juggle it open without knocking over a strategically placed wine glass, she or he will take your drinks order before returning to take your food order. Depending on how busy the place is, you will be given around 10 minutes to choose but if ...

Forget your Ask's of today . . . .

Advantages: Great Value, Great Food, "Salad Cart Experience"
Disadvantages: Sometimes Fully Booked

...on one street and a Harvester on the other, the restaurants of our time have been wiped out and today taken over by funky bars and lounges offering overpriced food in stuffy atmospheres where you feel bad breathing out, let enough eating. What has replaced them is your Ask's and Pizza Expresses of this world, and yes they may look a bit cooler and yes the staff are certainly a bit dishier, but when you've looking for good food that comes with a good ...
...while you eat, then the Harvester is the place to go, providing you can still find one these days. I now live in Cornwall where Harvesters don't even feature, the nearest one being some 45 miles away but the further you go up the country expect to pass around 125 of the friendly restaurants. I went only a few weeks ago to the Harvester situated along Watford Rd, Croxley green, Hertfordshire and there are another 3 in the 5mile radar. It was around ...

Eat out at the Harvester

Advantages: Salad bar, good portion sizes, good service
Disadvantages: Price of drinks

...strange really, I have a harvester a mile away from where I live in Nuneaton and I havent been there for a good 5 years. In the past week however I've been there twice and I'm left wondering why I left it so long in between my previous visits. -- Location and Surroundings -- The restaurant is situated on the corner of St Nicolas Park Drive and Hinckley road in a very affluent part of the town. The restaurant itself is quite well hidden from the ...
...-- The menu -- Harvester operates what it calls an early bird menu. This means that if you eat before 6.30pm on Monday to Friday and before 5pm on a Saturday, they will knock a third off their advertised prices. This suddenly makes eating out in numbers a lot more affordable. There is also a childrens style menu called the Young Guests Menu. This is however different from the standard childrens menu where you normally get a poor version of a sausage, ...

Having a harvestering time

Advantages: Waiter service, unique selling points & convenient location
Disadvantages: No sunday lunch option

...really tended to visit the Harvester in Loughborough until I got invited to two celebrations there in one week! Ever since then I have been back a few times. There are around 150 Harvester restaurants around I have visited only the one in Loughborough but would gladly use a Harvester elsewhere. They are normally situated near holiday inns or quality inns for some reason. Harvester is a subsidiary and brand name of Mitchell's and Butler's plc. Harvester ...
...like to see the full Harvester menu they also operate a website with everything you need to know about every meal and price. THEME The restaurant is very much a BBQ American type ranch theme. All the waiters and waitresses wear black trousers and pink and blue check shirts, which look nice because they are different and colourful unlike other places. The tables are set out in table and chair style in some areas and booths in others The main types ...

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PLACES TO EAT

Advantages: Warm and welcoming, lovely food, free salad
Disadvantages: You can not book a table

When you first enter a Harvester You will notice that there are two separate areas, one is the bar and one is the restaurant, you can eat in both of these places but can only smoke in the bar, however if you eat in the restaurant they are happy to let you go to the bar for a cigarette then return to your table. THE SETTING Harvesters restaurants have a country feel to them they have wooden beams and farm like fixtures, for example if you look up ...
...and wooden boxes made to look like chicken houses. At the tables they have both seats and sofa depending on the size of the table, which are both comfortable, whoever they do try to fit a lot of tables into the area that they have so sometimes it can be a bit of a squeeze getting in and out of your seat if it is busy. The bar has the same theme, there are also tables outside so if it is a nice day you can enjoy a cold drink in the sunshine. There ...

HARVESTER IN EASTLEIGH, HAMPSHIRE

Advantages: Great food, great service, great for families
Disadvantages: none

I love the Harvester restaurants so I do tend to go on a regular basis! Here is my review on the Harvester restaurant in Eastleigh, Hampshire. THE CAR PARK I have to admit that this car park isn't huge and it's on a really weird slope, although there are some more parking spaces in the Travelodge car park which is right next to the restaurant. We have never actually had a problem with finding a space but then we do tend to go early as we have ...
...Another great thing the harvester do is if you are seated before 6.30pm (5pm on Saturday) then they give you the earlybird menu which is 1/3 cheaper than the later menu! THE MENU AND SALAD CART I always find that they give you long enough to browse the menu and decide what you all want (some restaurants i've been to simply do not give you enough time, then when you haven't quite decided what you want they stand at the table huffing and puffing ...

The good, the bad, and the plain ugly

Advantages: Honest, wholesome, value-for-money food. Child friendly.
Disadvantages: Some restaurants have very low standards. Not especially couple-friendly.

...odd mistake, but for some Harvester restaurants, 'mistakes' seem to be the norm. * When your drinks arrive half an hour after ordering them, AFTER your main meals, and even then they are wrong/missing, that's not acceptable. * We had a meal where the waitress actually gave us a check-back, only to be told for the second time that that my nan's meal still hadn't materialised from the kitchen (no explanation given). * The quality of the food is often ...
...* I have been in Harvester restaurants where the glasses are brown - even after sending them back and receiving 'fresh' ones. * The meals sometimes come out sloppy - no seasoning on the 'seasoned' chips, cold chips, etc. * It's never good to be told that something is not on the menu 15 minutes after ordering. * It's never good to have a chicken that is still raw in the inside. My worst experience was when a waitress opened a filthy highchair, ...

Sod the worm, the Earlybird eats at the Harvester

Advantages: Great quality food and service
Disadvantages: More expensive than other pub chains

...in Sidcup in Kent. The Harvester Pub & Grill is part of the Mitchells & Butlers brand which owns a huge amount of restaurant and pub brands all over the United Kingdom including Toby Carvery and Beefeater. The Harvester has over 160 locations and is one of the most popular family pub restaurants in England. The Harvester is classed as a pub but it is more of an upmarket sort of pub which offers better quality food and a more friendly and relaxed ...
...The great thing about the Harvester is that, with every meal ordered, either from the main, Earlybird or Young Guest menu, you get an unlimited free salad. You can help yourself to this as soon as you've ordered and it includes all the usual salad items - potatoes, sweetcorn, greens, tomatoes, croutons, dressings, etc., as well as some delicious fresh brown and white rolls. We always fill our bowls right up to the top because the salad is so delicious ...

They can harvest my meals anytime

Advantages: delicious
Disadvantages: none

...Harvester meals are based on chargrilled meals, such as chicken spitroast (their speciality), sausages, corn, ribs, steak, burgers, etc. They also do a vegetarian selection (although small), fish, pasta etc. I normally go for chicken if I don't have the meal for two. Prices are around £7 - £11 for each main meal, which I think is good value. They also offer a lunchtime offer for £4.99. A choice of soup and main meal, or salad and main meal. Includes ...
...like about going to a Harvester is that because they chargrill everything, she thinks it is burnt because of the black lines. (she wont eat their garlic bread). High chairs are readily available. Kids also get a free ice cream with their meal. Their prices range from £2.95 to "4.95. Now that I have gone through the menu, I am hungry. I should also say their wine selection is very good. Got to love that salad cart at Harvester

Advantages: Nice Cheap food
Disadvantages: Not the best quality

I absolutely loved Harvester as a child and used to get very excited when it was my Dads birthday and we would end up going. I still absolutely love the novelty of the salad cart. My friend and I decided to go and visit a Harvester Sunday as I was visiting her in Bournemouth for the day and it was a cheap option with the earlybird menu. Anyway we arrived at the Harvester which was easy to see as they have large signs outside telling you what it is. ...
...easily. We went inside and had to wait a couple of minutes for someone to come over and offer us a table. These appeared to be a wait for some groups but as there were only two of us we were able to go straight in. Only problem was the table wasn't completely set but they did it shortly afterwards. Once sat down we were given our menus, which are a lot simpler than the menus used to be. This may have been because it was a special early bird menu ...

Food Ripe For THe Harvest!

Advantages: Great Family Resturant
Disadvantages: None For Me

...of my childhood going to harvester restaurants with my family, be it for birthday celebrations or just for a cheap treat. Now as an adult I can fully appreciate the chain of restaurants so much more. There are hundreds harvesters dotted around the UK, so chances are you have one near you or have seen the traditional pub style buildings, that these restaurants seem to appear in, while on your travels. I have 3 harvesters within about a 5 mile radius ...
...and friendly atmosphere of the harvester chain. Its something I consider cheap and cheerful compared to a lot of dining out options. For the price I pay, the variety of the menu and the fun I have serving my own salad (yes I'm still a child at heart) then I am very pleased with my harvester experiences and will give them 5 stars. I'll happily keep visiting for those times I want to eat out somewhere reliable and advice anyone who knows of a harvester, ...

Fit for a Harvester

Advantages: free salad, good value food, family friendly
Disadvantages: can be noisy, sometimes a long wait for a table

I've eaten at our local Harvester on many occasions (and for many occasions - birthdays, fathers days etc) and it does exactly what's promised. It's always pretty busy, which is a good sign, and people do seem to go back again and again. So sometimes, if you've not booked ahead, there can be a wait for a table (I've experienced anything from a few minutes to an hour and a half) but the staff take your name and invite you to wait in the bar area ...
...I most like about the Harvester is that everybody gets a free trip to the salad bar. This, for me, is the main reason that I keep going back. It encourages you to be healthy, but also means that perhaps you can save a few pennies by skipping a starter and opting for a salad as a replacement. The salad bar offers a diverse array of salad bits - carrots, pepper, cucumber, pasta, croutons, onions, tomatoes and also a range of salad dressings too. There ...

Spit Roast Veggie Meals?

Advantages: Great value for money
Disadvantages: The extras get expensive

...a regular visitor at the harvester and enjoyed eating there regularly, particularly for the early bird menu which represented excellent value for money. After a couple of years of being a vegetarian I decided to venture back and see what was on offer....Now I am not a true vegetarian as I eat fish, so I knew that there would be some kind of fish on the menu! We were seated at our table quickly and were well received. The staff were friendly and polite ...

Eat as much salad as you can at the Harvester!

Advantages: Free unlimited salad, a good family pub.
Disadvantages: Can get very busy at weekend's, but this is the same for alot of places.

I'd never heard of the Harvester chain before until I came across a review online. Then nearby, a pub that was originally Brewer's Fayre closed down, and was later re-opened as a Harvester Pub & Grill meaning I could now try a Harvester Pub. == What is Harvester? == Harvester Pub & Grill restaurants are a family run chain and they have over 160 outlets in the UK. They bought a large number of Brewer's Fayres and Beefeaters, which explains why the ...
