Advantages Advantages Good portions. Super-friendly service. Cheap and cheerful.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bland and unimaginative "safe" dishes. Rough clientele.

Do you remember that annoying advert for Harvester Restaurants from the 90’s when some over-made up girl chirped “Have you been to a Harvester before”? I do, and for years I would parrot it out every time we went past a Harvester - much to the annoyance of my partner. In fact, no doubt I irritated him so much, he never wanted to actually go inside one. However, when Harvester opened up a unit fairly recently in our home town of Chichester, it was only a matter of time before I managed to “persuade” him into making our first foray into the world of Harvester. DÉCOR & AMBIANCE I was expecting ... more

Advantages Advantages Good food, good service, pleasant surroundings, reasonable prices

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes badly behaved children, sometimes food could be hotter, often very crowded

In more recent years when it has come to celebrating birthdays and having a pre-Christmas festive feed-up, my friend and I have temporarily, and for various reasons, abandoned our usual Indian restaurant blowouts. Instead, we’ve been visiting our local Harvester which is a very short drive from where I live….approximately 4 minutes in a car and about a 20 minute walk. We’ve used this branch of Harvester quite a few times a year since about 2007 and mostly have been pleased with the overall results. Our last visit was on the evening of Tuesday, 13th December 2011, and we arrived at the ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Toilets can be quite disturbing, not all dishes taste as good they are described.

Harvester Restaurants Restaurant Reviewed: Stag and Hounds Winchester Road Basingstoke Hampshire (next to Comet and Home Base) The Harvester chain of Restaurants have over 2000 outlets across the United Kingdom and owned and operated by Mitchells and Butlers, who claim to be the UK's leading operator of managed pubs, bars and restaurants. Harvester claim to offer healthy eating, drinking and entertainment in one reasonably priced outlet. **** Parking and Getting a Table ***** As with most of the Harvester's I have visited, there is usually ample free parking at the rear of the establishment ... more

Harvester Restaurants Restaurant Reviewed: George Bury Street Ruislip Middlesex (next to Heart Estate Agents) Harvester Ruislip Location Located at the end of the High Street in Ruislip is this dining establishment. This is part of the Mitchell and Butler restaurants and bars that are located around the United Kingdom. I have had a recent experience to the Metropolitan pub in Uxbridge and this particular restaurant was much bigger in size than the Metropolitan pub. I also find it easy to get to this place as it is accessible to Metropolitan line users in Ruislip. It is around four hundred ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Value, Great Food, "Salad Cart Experience"

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes Fully Booked

Where as it used to be a Beefeater on one street and a Harvester on the other, the restaurants of our time have been wiped out and today taken over by funky bars and lounges offering overpriced food in stuffy atmospheres where you feel bad breathing out, let enough eating. What has replaced them is your Ask's and Pizza Expresses of this world, and yes they may look a bit cooler and yes the staff are certainly a bit dishier, but when you've looking for good food that comes with a good price and can involve the whole family and you can relax while you eat, then the Harvester is the place to go ... more

Its quite strange really, I have a harvester a mile away from where I live in Nuneaton and I havent been there for a good 5 years. In the past week however I've been there twice and I'm left wondering why I left it so long in between my previous visits. -- Location and Surroundings -- The restaurant is situated on the corner of St Nicolas Park Drive and Hinckley road in a very affluent part of the town. The restaurant itself is quite well hidden from the main road by the sheer volume of fir trees. The restaurant shares its location with a Travel Lodge so any businessman in the area would be ... more

I love the Harvester restaurants so I do tend to go on a regular basis! Here is my review on the Harvester restaurant in Eastleigh, Hampshire. THE CAR PARK I have to admit that this car park isn't huge and it's on a really weird slope, although there are some more parking spaces in the Travelodge car park which is right next to the restaurant. We have never actually had a problem with finding a space but then we do tend to go early as we have two small children who do not like waiting!! ENTERING Upon entering the restaurant you notice that it is a nice clean place and you dont usually have to ... more

I eat out quite a lot but never really tended to visit the Harvester in Loughborough until I got invited to two celebrations there in one week! Ever since then I have been back a few times. There are around 150 Harvester restaurants around I have visited only the one in Loughborough but would gladly use a Harvester elsewhere. They are normally situated near holiday inns or quality inns for some reason. Harvester is a subsidiary and brand name of Mitchell's and Butler's plc. Harvester is open at 11am 11pm Monday to Sunday serving food from 12 noon till 10pm Monday till Saturday and 11am till ... more

Advantages Advantages Good value meals; good sized portions; quality of food appears to be the same in all Harvesters.

Disadvantages Disadvantages some restaurants may differ re cleanliness/decor and ambience

I have been eating at The Harvester on and off for quite a few years. My local Harvester is in Arnos Grove, North West London with one a little further away at Stirling Corner, Borehamwood. I have now decided that I will not be returning to The Harvester at Arnos Grove. The main reason is actually the state and the decor of the place rather than the food. My partner wanted us to go for a meal the other day (early evening). We had previously decided to give the Harvester a rest because we were getting a bit bored of their food. What I mean is, i think its about time they changed their menu a ... more

Advantages Advantages Warm and welcoming, lovely food, free salad

Disadvantages Disadvantages You can not book a table

When you first enter a Harvester You will notice that there are two separate areas, one is the bar and one is the restaurant, you can eat in both of these places but can only smoke in the bar, however if you eat in the restaurant they are happy to let you go to the bar for a cigarette then return to your table. THE SETTING Harvesters restaurants have a country feel to them they have wooden beams and farm like fixtures, for example if you look up in the beams there will often be boxes of hay and wooden boxes made to look like chicken houses. At the tables they have both seats and sofa depending ... more
