    MY EXPERIENCE OF HAYS ACCOUNTANCY ******************************** ************************** When I left the NHS last year, after a period of ill-health, little did I know that I would return, and definitely not as quickly as I did. Within 5 months, when I thought I would look for some temporary work I was back. However I was back with Hay's Accountancy. The hospital trust I had worked for in the past used to have it's own pool of clerical bank or temporary workers.     Having read the other reviews concerning Hays Accountancy I thought I would just fill people in on what they are like on the other side of the coin so to speak. I have been a Finance Manager for 5 years & have recruited staff for the past 10 years. I often work on a contract basis myself, so have picked up many contacts along the way. One particular contract I was attempting to recruit for was an Expenses Ledger Assistant.     Hays a large accountancy recruitment company. Generally accountancy jobs are offered via agencies rather than by adverts in the local paper or your local job centre. I have been involved with Hays as a job seeker and as an employee. Hays generally charges the employer 35% of the yearly salary to locate an employee. There is a refund if the employee leaves within 13 weeks. I think the size of this fee may indicate why recruitment is a fairly profitable business!     Being reasonably new to the competitive world of job hunting, I decided to enlist the help of professionals. Having good marketable office skills/experience & great referees, I thought I was taking a positive step - wrong! My first impressions weren't good. Grotty little first floor office in a half empty building......okay, appearances can be deceptive, I thought. The receptionist (and I've been one before) failed to dazzle me with her welcoming skills, and hastily handed me a typing skills test with printed instructions and promptly disappeared.     Advantages Advantages Very few, although their website is not bad

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very poor customer care, almost non-existant

    At 53 years of age, I like to think I have some experience of life, although I would be the first to admit that you NEVER stop learning. Having worked in an accounting environment for a major British Blue Chip for 25 years, I was given early retirement at the ripe old age of 50. I did a bit of agency work before taking on full time employment for 18 months commuting to the West End of London. I hadn't done this for many years but adapted quite well.     I registered with Hays Croydon in Oct 06 and Hays Victoria May 07. I work in payroll and finance and they claim to specialise in these areas. They always call me with vacancies, saying they'll put me forward, then I hear nothing from them again. In the whole time I've been a registered candidate they've never got me an interview or a temporary placement. I'm registered on both the temp and perm side. The agency is all talk and are completely useless. I've had lots of temp jobs and a few perm positions since registering with them. Who they find work ... more

    Hays Accountancy i have a had bad experience with,i was put in a course from Job Centre and everyday i would visit an agency and this was one of them. The first time i gave my CV i got a form to give back in which i handed back in the next day.I was told i would recieve a call within the next 24 hours,the staff at the Hays i've experienced with seemed to be very dull. Hays i think goes for the mature experienced people than the young upstarters.I was told by Hays that i got a good chance with finding a job fast because of my age and what i have done at College that wasnt the case as Hays never ... more

    Looking for a job can be stressful and after registering with several agencies, Hays Accountancy Personnel had to be the worst ever experience(twice)! The first consultant was totally unprofessional with an rude manner. She came across as she was so much more important and that I wasn't worthy to be in her office and they may be able to help me find a job! Then, I almost gave up a secure temp role for a temp to perm position offered by another Hays Accountancy Consultant, which was then withdrawn within 20 minutes of it being offered to me!!!
