Heat is probably not a magazine I would have ever picked off a shelf and made the decision to buy. Unfortunately I got sucked into doing just that, and have done every Tuesday for heaven knows how many weeks, ever since getting a free copy with a newspaper I bought at WHSmith. Well I think that was the offer, like I said I've been reading this magazine for so long now...the issue I have infront of me is 23-29 April 2005 (so obviously not the most ... ...men prefer? ...guys and gals down at Heat Magazine Headquarters have done their job nicely. They reeled me in hook line and sinker and yes I fell for it! February 9-15 edition displayed “Pop Idol Special Issue” with a photograph of gorgeous Gareth and Wacky Will on its front cover…and I just had to have it.

Heat is a weekly celebrity gossip magazine. You’ll find it in all newsagents and supermarkets for £1.45. It’s a relatively new addition to the newsagent’s shelves being in print for just under 3 years. This copy is edition 154.
Ok. So your attention has been grabbed after spotting Pop Idol on the front cover. So you go for a closer inspection. You pick the magazine up and you are then confronted with a rather ...

Heat magazine is the best magazine i have come across in a long time for celebrity gossip. It beats the backside off Hello and Ok and it is even better than Now magazine.
Why i hear you say!
*******************
Well this magazine is produced weekley for the bargain price of £1.45, i get it every thursday as soon as it comes out into my local newsagents, then i go back to the office, get myself a cuppa coffee and then let my ears fall silent to ... ...page is normally covered with Posh Spice, bless her and if it isnt Posh Spice then it is someone like Britney. This weeks catchy titles are;
"Britney - Im going to marry Justin", "Gareth's mum speaks out" and "Posh blows her top"!!
So you see this and think "Ooh what's wrong with Posh not and aww that lovely bloke called Gareth is on the front, bless him" and then you buy it! Great advertising.
On the inside of the magazine there is always an ...

...gossip addict like me then heat should be your first stop. Heat magazine is one of the newer gossip magazines and is a bit like the younger cheekier brother of Hello magazine. Advantages: cheap, fun, not taxing Disadvantages: advertising
Heat magazine, you've seen the adverts on TV claiming "the greater the iq, the greater the need for gossip". I saw them, and I have to say my response was a cynical my a**e, and a flick of the switch.
Stange then that on its relaese every tuesday morning, Im there in my newsagent with itching fingers, and money burning a hole in my pocket. Probably because its not just gossip, (admittedly a lot of it is).
On opening the magazine, you'll find the ... ...and donts.
Every week Heat conducts an in depth interview with a popular celebrity and publishes an article to cover at least 4 pages, along with pictures from their own photo shoot.
The "reviews" section of heat is quite lengthy and covers film (cinema, video and dvd) music (albumn and single) and books. These include reviews, charts and half page articles.
"Party people" gives all the gossip from inside celebrity parties, right down to who made ...

Advantages: Full of gossip, cheap, it's weekly, lots of promotions Disadvantages: None
Heat is a weekly gossip magazine, costing £1.45, I think mainly directed towards females of the younger generation, but even male pensioners would be partial to this! My friend's 90 year-old great grandmother has a subscription to this and reads it from cover to cover religiously, so there you go, very versatile and people of all ages love it!
There are many other celebrity entertainment magazines out there: OK, Hello, Now, Closer, Sneak, etc, so ... ...but I doubt it!
Heat is a nice in-the-middle - they aren't afraid to take the piss out of celebrities, which I love. There's nothing more satisfying than see Jennifer Lopez or Catherine Zeta Jones with a huge spot on their face or smiling for the camera with something stuck in their teeth - it's human nature to be bitchy, after all! They interview the hottest celebrities of the moment, and ask questions no-one else dares to! As well as the celebrity ...

In my opinion, heat magazine doesn't have a particular target audience, but rather each edition appeals to anyone interested in general celebrity gossip or the ' hot story of the week'. As such, I guess the majority of people that purchase this mag are probably aged between 14 and 40 although my mum (aged 50) likes my second hand copies !
Whilst on one hand, I probably don't really give two hoots what names Sophie Ellis Bextor has lined ... ...of the rich and famous; heat is a cheap and cheerful way of satisfying those cravings !

At £1.45, heat is the most expensive of the three magazines I mentioned at the start of this review, but has more pages and therefore more gossip. heat sells itself as being the magazine that contains 'This week's hottest celebrity news' although in my experience, choosing between this and other 'goss mags' is often difficult ...

...of you that are uninitiated, Heat (or maybe we should use its correct title of "heat", without a capital H - apparently it is trendy not to use capital letters these days!) is a "with it" magazine, definitely aimed at women rather than men (unless your a man who is likely to go ga-ga over Bruce Willis' naked bum!). I wouldn't categorise it in to any particular age group, but I would say it would infinitely appeal more to the "younger" age groups ... ...opposite page, they have the heat staff credits, with a neat little twist: rather than just name names, they add a little question for the staff to answer every week - this weeks being "where did you go on holiday as a child". Interesting stuff indeed! Doesn't take a genius to work out the most common answers were Skeggy and Cornwall. Although, there was one clever soul, who stated Corfu - but then he is American - we shall say no more!

...I came across heat (now if a was a man that may be looked upon differently) by accident. I was bored and it was time for my well-earned afternoon break, so I plotted a course for the smoke room. Heat is a weekly magazine packed full of celebrity news, reviews and shopping tips for the young and trendy.
I'm not young and certainly not trendy but I can't wait for Tuesdays to get to get my weekly fix of hot gossip. Sad, I know, but who cares.....ITS GREAT.
My daughter , who's 21, loves this as much as I do, in fact theres often 2 copies in our house. When we've devoured all the news it gets passed on to my mum, so she can catch up too!

Some of the photos are unposed for and "unapproved", they contain hilarious text which have me in stitches and are worth buying the mag for. If you want to know who's got cellulite, hairy armpits or dodgy plastic surgery, look no further.!

...am talking, of course, about Heat Magazine. It comes out weekly on Tuesdays and there's not a week that goes by when I don't linger over the magazine counter, trying to pick something educational and sensible (like Scientific American or Gardener's Weekly) but then inevitably my hand falls on Heat's shiny white and red cover, and I fork out my money for what everyone with an IQ higher than 70-something would call 'trash'. ...this magazine is called Heat. Heat can be considered to inflame passion and this it certainly did with me. I have not felt so inflamed with dislike about anything as much for a long time. Heat is also a source of warmth but there is so little warmth from Heat magazine to its subject matter it is appalling. Heat magazine is a deeply cynical exploitation of celebrity and of the celebrities themselves. After some recent TV advertising I thought I would ... ...first thing I noticed about Heat magazine was the dreadful standard of writing in it. The lipring article meandered about in a disjointed ramble. It was if the paragraphs had been jumbled up. The second thing you notice is that most of the articles in Heat are at a level of trivia that is depressingly trifling. The information has a value so ...

Heat Magazine is arguably the original weekly trashy celeb mag. Taking a slightly more sarcastic, tongue in cheek approach than the like of the predecessors "Ok" and "Hello" Heat is a amagazine that girls will love and guys will secretly sneak a peak of then deny it later.
