I'M COLOUR PREJUDICED

Advantages: Kids seem to like it
Disadvantages: THAT COLOUR !!!!

...food items has to be Heinz Tomato Ketchup. We all know it is the BEST - Bar none, that is never in question - but who would have thought that one day we'd question what COLOUR It is? Right, I know that before they are ripe, tomatoes are green, but tomato sauce/ketchup is RED. There is no getting away from that fact....until now. I suppose if you are the sort of person who likes Mushy peas with your dinner, this ketchup may be right up your street. ...
...is approxamately the same as Heinz normal (Simply THE BEST) Red Ketchup, but at present they are the only manufacturers - that I know of - that make this colour. This might be a good thing to buy for a Kids party - but don't blame me for any adverse reaction. From what I've seen they will like it - but it might also be scary. And one more suggestion - this is probably ideal for the movies in making 'alien blood'. ...

Yes, it does look like slime

Advantages: Has some healthy ingredients
Disadvantages: Looks like slime

Well, Heinz that well-known supplier of quality condiments has brought out 'Green Ketchup', or Green Sauce, as it is officially known. Why? Apparently there is a worthy motive behind the product. It has been widely established that kids don't like eating vegetables. This is partly due to the taste, due to hormonal differences between adults and children green vegetables often taste far bitterer to children than adults. Another factor in turning kids ...

Think bogies

Advantages: Tastes the same
Disadvantages: really does look bad

...same shape as a normal Heinz bottle except I think it's a unique size- it contains 342g. Instead of the normal clear bottle it's covered with a plastic coating or streaked dark and light green- possibly to hide the sickable colour of the actual sauce. The lid is green as well and it does make quite a contrast with all the other red ketchup's on the shelves. ***Actual Sauce*** The sauce is just normal ketchup without the colorings that normal make ...
...same and is exactly the same texture however it has slightly more calories- 108 per 100g compared to the traditional 107 per 100g. The color of the sauce isn't the bright fluorescent green I'd expected- it was more of a dull, swampy green. It's hard to describe but on food it looks very dark and with bits of dull black in it. I don't know why this is but bright red sauce somehow looks more normal than green. It's just the brain telling me it shouldn't ...

Red or green it is now guilt free

Advantages: red or green it is now guilt free
Disadvantages: green and purple are just not right

Heinz the inventor of green tomato sauce could be the new health food. Recent studies have been done on antioxidants and their benefit to our health. Lecithin is an antioxidant that is found in tomatoes and especially their skins and is concentrated in tomato sauce. This is apparently good news for those of us who like to drown our food in the thick sweet vinegary taste of Heinz tomato sauce. Antioxidants are molecules that soak up and neutralise ...
...of molecules that come from our diet and other sources and cause damage to artery walls, cells of internal organs and the skin. They can cause arteriosclerosis (hardening of arteries) aging and cancers. This means it is not a good idea to have too many running around your system. Tomato sauce and its antioxidants soak up these free radicals and prevent them from doing their damage. This is considered to help slow the aging process, slow the development ...

Advantages: Loads of fun
Disadvantages: Stains

...On the 22nd June 2001 Heinz launched the Limited Edition Green Sauce. This sauce is made with Heinz Tomato Ketchup, so is still full of juicy tomatoes … (although it is very hard to believe when you look at it!) It tastes exactly the same as the good old red ketchup, although I have had several people around who are convinced it tastes different. I think it tastes exactly the same … eaten with your eyes shut! It is very hard to picture ...

Its Gone Green but is Healthy for You

Advantages: Tasty Economical Healthy
Disadvantages: It stains It looks awful

...Would you believe H J Heinz claim their sales of the stuff exceeds US$1.2 billion world wide and they have a stronghold not only in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand but in markets like Thailand. Heinz Tomato Ketchup,in short,is something of a global icon ! Imagine my surprise in going to my local supermarket and seeing green Tomato Ketchup staring me in the face. Was I drunk ? No I was stone cold sober. Were my eyes playing tricks with me? ...
...so much that they requested Heinz to produce it for the British market. Now Heinz are big, very big, in Britain and the Ketchup market is worth more than US$160 million and Heinz claim a 55% share of that market. Heinz point out that combining blue and yellow food colouring to achieve a rich, verdant, green colour is commonly used and perfectly safe. The colours,it seems, are added to to the regular red tomato sauce recipe and,say Heinz, tastes identical ...

It really is green

Advantages: none as far as I can see
Disadvantages: it really is green glowing green

Heinz green tomato ketchup It really is green, very green. Where do you start? We all know that ketchup is red because it’s made of ripe red tomatoes! Well I am afraid not any more. The story started back in the summer when I went with my daughter to Burger King, ordered our meals and asked for tomato ketchup to go with my king fries (this is not turning into a treatise on the relative merits of McDonalds and Burger King fries just in case ...
...out. Well imagine my consternation when this square container of green tomato ketchup was handed to me, hmm I thought, well I had best not seem boring and duly took it off to the table and opened it. You could have knocked me down with a feather; this ketchup was not mushy pea green but glowing (not unlike Dr Who slime, when they find these enormous maggots down a mine that have been gorging on chemical effluent!). When I tasted it the flavour was ...

An idea from Dr Seuss

Advantages: Fun, kids love it,
Disadvantages: Sickly green colour is off-putting for adults

The kids love this one! Who would have come up with an idea for green ketchup? Only Heinz, that's who! And without losing any of the flavour that we all know and love. I must add though, the very bright green colour (although a favourite with my granddaughter whose favourite colour is - you've guessed it - green) does not do well in those recipes that I add ketchup too. Everything turns green. Sure it tastes the same but you still have to get over ...
...look appealing or people won't get to the taste! I must also say, this is a fun admittance to the ketchup realm, and they now have purple available in the USA as well. Kids love yet another excuse to "play" with their food, and will have a lot of fun dipping chips into green ketchup. If it gets them to eat their dinner, give them green ketchup with everything! Green baked beans? Eggs and bacon with green ketchup - not so far off the "green eggs ...

WHO SNEEZED ON MY PLATE?

Advantages: Kids like it, original
Disadvantages: Looks like snot

...tasted like, well, ketchup! Heinz ketchup goes well with just about any food and tastes utterly delicious. As some of the less enlightened amongst us may think; tomato ketchup isn’t just a sometomatoes chucked into a blender and bottled. Oh no! It is a careful blend of spices, vinegar and vitamins that gives Heinz tomato ketchup its unique and gorgeous taste. The green ketchup isnt around so much any more and it was a bit of a crazy fad. I thought ...

Nice tasting pond slime.

Advantages: healthy, low fat, lasted ages!
Disadvantages: looked too horrid, couldn't bring myself to eat it.

My kids tell me that heinz green sauce tastes just the same as red. I thought when I bought it that they'd be excited with the novelty. Unfortunately, when they squirted it on their plates it put them completely off their chips. My eldest said it was like "pond slime" and even my youngest, who eats everything (else) couldn't be persuaded. The bottle was eventually finished after 6 months because I refused to replace it. We prefer heinz ketchup to ...

Disadvantages: looks very off putting!

Ok, this stuff looks absolutely disgusting, but i swear it is exactly the same as the red one. the green, alien tinge will probably put you off your scampi and chips, but rest assured, it is still as nice, and a good humoured (no pun intended) source of converstion at the dinner table. this stuff really is as good as the red, but still looks fairly revolting.
