Celebrity As God
Review of Hello by
polydeuces
Advantages: Well produced
Disadvantages: Ingratiating, sycophantic drivel
...in. In the world of Hello there is no rail crisis, no problems in the NHS. World hunger and deprivation exists as a photo opportunity – how good that God makes most of its natural disasters strike where the sun shines.
This leads me to the crux of my problem with Hello. The magazine treats its celebrities and particularly royalty as Gods. In doing so it appears Godless and without compassion unless that compassion is recognised and revered ...

A flick through Hello
Review of Hello by
danieletheridge
Advantages: Good TV guide
Disadvantages: Where are the celebrities?!
...her death. One thing that Hello can receive praise for, however, is the separate supplement. If there is a significant event, then you can bet that Hello! Magazine will print a ‘life in pictures’ supplement.
Page 55 brings us an advert for Vodafone, and for their Valentine’s service. And once that is read a brief article on Liz Hurley covers those glossy pages. This is where the ‘7 Days’ supplement is attached to the ...

Mindless drivel, but entertaining
Review of Hello by
Bluecat
Advantages: easy read, full of useless yet entertaining information
Disadvantages: A few errors and missing facts
I love this magazine. Its so amazingly tacky! It is a cheaper version of OK, and it shows, although I must say that the photos are of a similar quality even if the text isn’t. Often full of errors, or missing useful facts which the reporter obviously forgot to ask in their excitement (like the subject’s age!) it’s still a blissfully mindless read, ideal after a hard day at the office. Although they do manage to capture a lot of celebrities, there’s ...

A Comic Book for Adults
Review of Hello by
mczly
Advantages: Great escapism
Disadvantages: Same old faces keep appearing
...magazines as a teenager then Hello magazine is just that but for adults. It is ritzy, glitzy, full of minor royalty, showbiz types and the good old jet set. With the large photo format and the editorial tucked away at the bottom of the page the layout is very reminiscent of children's comics and, like a comic, it requires no intellectual input to "read".
The people featured and the type of life they lead is a zillion miles away from my life and ...

Degrading and Untrue
Review of Hello by
elbeck0
Advantages: It is a quick and easy source for spreading rumors
Disadvantages: It is degrading and immoral for those who it is written about
I do not personaly buy 'Hello'magazine, as I think it is basicly trash, but you can never fail to see a copy in the doctors' waiting room, or left on the train, and when I am SO bored that i bring myself to read it I am disgusted at the content. The people who write this stuff have no respect for other peoples' privacy and treat celebrities like they are just objects that are theirs to criticise or insult: when was the last time one of these people ...
