5 Stars Lush Solid Henna Blocks Review with images 24/07/2004

    Advantages Advantages All Natural product.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't be used for 3-6 months after colouring.

Okay now this will be the first time I have had any experience of one of the much loved by the ladies of Ciao favourite companies Lush, after reading so much about how good their products were how could I not at least give them a try. Not being the kind of person who does a lot of shopping personally, especially if it means going into either Leeds or Bradford which are the nearest large cities as such near me I had to take a look at what the store had to offer online. Finding the site was no problems and I had to smile at the title Lush Times. After a lot of browsing and getting more and more ... more

Advantages Advantages soft, shiny hair, rich colour that doesn't go dull

Disadvantages Disadvantages difficult to put on and smells strongly herbal

Lush Henna- natural hair dye Price £6.25 (a lot cheaper than getting it dyed in the hair dresser). Hairdressers, unsurprisingly, abhor henna (the H word) as it takes away their customers. After Henna you cannot go and dye over it, as I understand it, henna penetrates the hair shaft and dye cotes it, and you cannot do one after the other. I have dyed my hair in the past and so I was very cautious about using Henna in case it went green. I can tell you that it didn't, it was lovely. However it had been 5 months since I had last dyed my hair, do not henna your hair immediately after you have dyed ... more

Advantages Advantages 100% natural, no chemicals, good for the hair

Disadvantages Disadvantages rather messy and can smell

~What is Henna~ Henna is a plant that is dried, ground into powder, and under most circumstances can release a reddish ginger dye useful for dyeing skin, hair and textiles like leather and materials like linen or cotton. A complete biological explanation of henna can be seen at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henna ~What is the difference between Henna, Black Henna (Indigo) and Black Henna that has appeared in the news causing damage to people~ Henna itself has been described above, however, traditionally, Black Henna is not Henna at all, it's another plant called Indigo. Advantages Advantages Gives hair a nice shine, evens out colour, a natural product.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Time taken, some people don't like the smell.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my hair. I like to have it very shiny, and one colour all over. I first used Lush Henna a few years ago, and since then I have used it a few times a year, to add shine and even out my hair colour. -My first time- The chalkboard above the Les Cacas Henna blocks promises "No sh*t hair colour and shine" and I wanted to know how these strange looking green blocks would make my hair a luscious mane. There are 4 different colours of Lush Henna available to buy: Caca Rouge- traditional bright red Caca Marron- chestnut Caca Brun- glossy brown Caca Noir ... more

Advantages Advantages Perfectly natural, safe for hair, conditioning

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wonderfully messy to use, the farmyard aspect ...

I've hennaed my hair for a while. Chemical colouring irritates my scalp something rotten, and henna is so natural and safe that you can do it three days in a row if you want to (but it's not recommended lol). I put henna onto my hair with an inch of my natural mid-brown hair showing through my dark red faded to bright dark red PPD-containing salon colour, the first time. Henna works by adding a translucent red colour to your natural hair colouring. Only Body Art Quality (the stuff for hand decoration for weddings etc) is pure enough to use on top of salon or box colour - there are metallic ... more

Advantages Advantages Good colour. Leaves hair shiny and smooth.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very very very messy. strong smell.

I first purchased lush henna to dye my hair approximately a year ago, I have never looked back. The colour quality is brilliant. I have dark brown hair and I use the red or marron dyes. I find for short/chin length hair you only need 2-3 squares. For medium length 4-5 squares and longer hair 6 or more. For those who don't already know, henna hair dye is a natural alternative to dying your hair, rather than using chemical dyes. The top advantage of this is that instead of making your hair dry and strawlike, as some dyes do, the henna makes your hair very lucious and smooth; this is due to one ... more

    Advantages Advantages All natural product

Disadvantages Disadvantages messy, smelly, time consuming

Up until about five years ago I gloried in long chestnut coloured hair that glowed with red highlights in the sunshine. I still have the long hair but I have also gained a fair smattering of grey hair to go with it. After getting horrible results with a chemical dye I decided that natural was the way to go and headed for Lush. After a long chat with one of the sales people I was advised that Marron was the one for me and as my hair was fairly long four out of the six block pack would probably be the right amount. Because of my sensitive skin the first thing I did was mix a small amount up and ... more

Advantages Advantages Natural and not tested on animals

    Disadvantages Disadvantages hard to find

This is a great hair dye. It's natural and easy to use. Yes..it's a little smelly and feels like you have a cowpat on your head. But there are too many postitives not to use it! I protected my clothes as usual before dying. But the brilliant thing about this dye is there's no staining of clothes like you get with most normal dyes. It isn't tested on animals and is very ethical and environmentally friendly. It actually feels so natural and made my hair nice and shiny. You can also leave it on for a deeper shade which is great. I bought mine from the net and it was very cheap. There are many ... more
