A Superstore for Crafters (HobbyCraft Store) 27/04/2011

Advantages Huge wide range of different craft materials available here, and lots of choice.
Disadvantages More expensive than buying the same things online frequently.

Hobbycraft is one of those shops that if you're like me and a crafter it's easy to spend all day in when you first come across the place. It's like a giant supermarket of craft supplies really with different isles dedicated to different types of crafting. At first glance, the place sells everything you could possibly want and then some. Advantages Great selection, good display
Disadvantages Jaw dropping prices

I am basing this review on the two stores I have visited, The one in Reading and the one between Ferndown and Bournemouth. There is a lot to see in store and most indoor crafts are catered for. There are supplied for painting, oils, watercolour and acrylics, canvasses, papers, and any of the equipment you could possibly want. They also cater for a wide variety of other crafts, such as card making, dried flower arranging, plastic model kits, airbrushing and a lot of books and other instructional materials and books. Advantages A lot to look a and buy!
Disadvantages Can get crowded!

I normally go to hobby craft to get my craft stuff I need for what im working on no matter what I need it will always be at hobby craft. There is so many things to buy that you can do and it will keep you entertained for hours.(It did for me I was glued) I love to buy all craft stuff as I am the sort of person and my store hobby craft is situated in Milton Keynes near the city, it's not far from my house which is about 10-15 minutes away from me and I go there a lot. ~~Some things you can buy which are in the shop~~ ~~Cross stitch~~ The cross stitch you can buy and do it yourself but if you ... more

Is customer service a craft as well 11/12/2001

Advantages Good store to spend money if you want to do crafts AND good customer service.
Disadvantages Not got enough money to spend in there though...

I had to visit Hobbycraft for a rather extensive purchase and being a needlework designer, I decided for speed to visit Hobbycraft in Reading. And because of that I think it is. I had to purchase a few hundred skeins of embroidery threads. However as I said this is a review about their customer, well, it is! The excellence of their customer service started when I arrived at the helpdesk with my basket full of skeins. The girl who served me went out of her way to assist me. Unfortunate for her, her manager said that all my skeins (about 500 of them of assorted colours) had to be individually ... more

HobbyCraft a major disappointment 19/09/2007

Having travelled from Ipswich to Basildon, to find out more about HobbyCraft, which so many people were talking about, I can say that it has to have been the most wasted trip we've ever made! While there was certainly a lot to see, there was nothing exciting or new. Prices were normally exorbitant, higher than many small stores, except on a few things that were obviously being got rid of quickly. The layout was awful, resembling nothing I've ever seen before - certainly offered no attractions to anybody looking for specific items. Quick review of HobbyCraft Store (Shop) by acamor 11/01/2009

I live in Plymouth Devon and was delighted when Hobbycraft opened in Plymouth based at Woolworths it open late in 2008, Yes you guessed it shut with the closure of Woolworth the end of 2008. We were sad to see the end of and era and couldn't believe that Hobbycraft went to. Is there any likelihood of Hobbycraft moving else where in the city there are lots of empty shops in the area. Whenever We were in buying buying crafts the shop was always busy and the staff were so helpful. Please please Rreturn to our city we have waited years ... more

i was extremely excited to here that hobbycraft was opening up locally and waited in aticipation for it to open and i was nothing but DISSAPOINTED with the place. The front of the shop was taken up by sweet and xmas trees, where is the craft in that. I find hobbycraft very over priced and the level of service is nowhere near as good as you get in little craft stores. I visit a craft store in middlesbrough and the staff are extremely helpful. I pay just under 40p for perlised card there, and when visiting hobbycraft realised they charge over double that at 97p each which is a disgrace. although ... more

Advantages Big store. Well laid out
Disadvantages Dirty looking. Didn't have either of the items I was looking for

My son took me ten miles to the nearest one (Greenford) to where we live and I wish I hadn't bothered. Up to now I have been getting all of my craft needs from the two main shopping channels on the TV and some online stores. I shall keep on using those. I was after die cut decoupage papers and unmounted clear stamps. Hobbycraft didn't even sell the normal decoupage papers and didn't have any unmounted stamps either. All a persons crafting needs. I don't think so. Both of the items I wanted are pretty much used by most card makers, but they couldn't be bought at Hobbycraft. The prices were dear ... more

Advantages Everything under one roof
Disadvantages NONE

If you are into anything crafty from painting to needlwork, from stamping to decoupage then this is the store for you. My local one in Basildon has the friendliest staff going. They cannot do enough for you. I was staggered, as an allround crafter, just what was available. The needlework section alone made me drool. I especially love the free craft leaflets which are available both in the store and on line. While you are there you can buy the materials needed for the free projects.
