Advantages: Cute looks make cleaning fun Disadvantages: Not that powerful, small water tank. Not very robust.
To start with I have to admit I only bought this product because it was shaped like a penguin. Sad but true. I collect penguins so a penguin steam cleaner was a must have. I bought it from a shopping channel as a Today's Special Value so I was confident that it would be ok becuase of their money back guarantee.
On reciept I was please that it did actually look like a penguin, and even more so when I first used it. I does actually work quite well ... ...used to. You have to 'pump' a switch on the penguins head to build up steam pressure and it takes a while to get the hang of it. As it is not a steam generator the pressure of the steam is fairly low. Its not that good for burnt on grease cleaning as its not got enough pressure, but for stain removal on carpets or Sterilising things it is fine. I've also found it great for defrosting freezers.

Advantages: Good for small jobs, looks cute ! Disadvantages: Fiddly water seal and unstable feet , lacks power for tough jobs
Like the first reviewer I must admit the cute packaging did influence me in buying this ! Its at the cheaper end of the market, and I was going through an "earth mother" stage and not wanting to use chemicals in the house, this sounded ideal. I probably use my penguin once a week, and afraid to say still regularly have to buy my cif and astonish !
GOOD STUFF... Its great for small jobs ( I have two children under 3 and its ideal at getting yoghurt ... ...for cleaning kiddies toys (the grotty sticky grey stuff that seems to coat the edges of our plastic garage for example)
HOWEVER ...
It claims to clean ovens/tyres and shower screens .. i've tried, the oven and shower screen .. no way !! You'd be there all day, and having to pump the handle to get the steam, you'd be worn out ! Other disadvantages, as mentioned before the cable lead ( I do wrap it around the steamer to store it otherwise I can't ...

...this product at all costs, Home-tek should be ashamed of themselves for releasing such a piece of junk. It does not do any of the things that were promised, steam is only useful as a cleaner if it has a certain amount of pressure, all this does is make a lot of noise and produce very little steam and just hot drips of water.
