Advantages Advantages Reliable, comfortable and easy to drive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Difficult to park (for me anyway)

It's all mine at last, it may only be an X reg car, that makes it 11 years old. As it was first registered in 2000. We haven't had it that long though, we bought it second hand about 4 years ago. It has proved to be good, reliable and comfortable, I might add. Now I'm no Jeremy Clarkson, so if you want to know all the in depth technical details and specifications, you can find all this out by visiting Honda's website. In the mean time I'll try to explain this car to you as best I can. The Car The model I have is a Honda Accord 1.8 VTEC SE exec, 5 door hatchback, petrol automatic, with ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Interior trim and space, fuel consumption

HISTORY ************ Most signs of middle age you can ignore. Grey hairs, wrinkles, the endless aches and pains. All can be denied much of the time. The one thing you can't disregard is that nagging voice in your head. You know the one. It sounds a bit like the late Johnny Cash. And it says "Son, it's time you thought about buying a Honda." That voice first spake unto me about six years ago. And yea, though I was sore afraid, I resisted for a while. But in July 2001, I found myself wandering the wilderness of a used car supermarket, running my fingers idly along the smooth curves of a 1999 ... more

Advantages Advantages Equally at home in London and 'Germany'

Disadvantages Disadvantages None found so far...uses petrol and pollutes, I suppose.

My lovely Honda Accord 2.0iLS (see an earlier review) has gone! After three years faithful service, during which time I only had to open the bonnet to add more water to the screeenwash...it’s gone. Tearful moments...just let me catch my breath. I sold it. It was like parting from an old friend, but I did it. Kim...if you read this...I hope you’re looking after it. I know it’ll be looking after you. So...if it was so bloody marvellous, why did I sell it? Because...I bought a NEWER one! At the urging of my accountant, (not that I need much urging to spend a few quid) I went shopping for a newer ... more

Advantages Advantages Legendary Honda reliabilty, comfort, quick.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fuel consumption 'around town' not so good.

Honda Accord 1.8i SE VTEC (Auto/Semi Auto) Hatchback This is my third Honda, so yes I do like them, I like them a lot. How can you not like a car that starts first time, every time you turn the key. How can you not like a car that just goes on and on, and gives you no trouble, (whether you service it or not, but that's not recommended) but just gives you lots of pleasure to drive. I bought this one back in Sept. 2004, its a 'W reg', registered July 2000, it had about 44,000 miles on the clock. It has the VTEC ('variable valve timing') engine with a 4 speed fully automatic and a semi automatic ... more

Advantages Advantages Smart, Large, comfortable, affordable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Parts can be expensive, rear brakes can play up.

First of all. This isn't my car. As I've written a separate review for mine. I am actually writing this review on behalf of my Dad. All opinions and experiences with the car are from my father and myself. *+*+*THE CAR*+*+* The car being reviewed is a 1997 R reg Honda Accord 1.8i LS Saloon in bright red. Purchased last year by my father for £1200. It has has 3 owners from new (inc. my Dad) and has 110K miles on the clock. Very good condition, few scratches around the door locks. And a few bumps now due to my dad hitting a few pillars and high kerbs. Haha. This model Accord is the one that is ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent engineering, a joy to drive!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive servicing costs

Around the month of September 2001, a new vehicle was born. It sat in a showroom in Nottingham for nearly a year, having hardly lived the life it should have. After 10months of being born, at a cost of £10,000, and only 50 miles on the clock, it was jointly purchased by my father and myself. Although, the final decision was made by my more persuasive father, I regretfully agreed. This was my first car, having driven a Volkswagon Transporter previously. I did not have the opportunity to research the car itself, and was rather a spur of the moment purchase. It was delivered a couple of days ... more

Advantages Advantages Too many to List

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only one found - Windscreen fogs up a lot

Returning to the U.K. after some 18 years I was confused by the different makes and models available. After driving heavy Landrovers through the African bush for so long and where strength and reliability was more important I had forgotten what comfort could be expected from a luxury car. To cut a long story short, an old school friend of some 3o years, was selling a S-Reg, 1998 Honda Accord and I chose this for two reasons -1. I had driven a Honda many years ago with trouble free motoring so I knew I could expect a certain standard and 2. I knew I could trust my friend more than anyone else ... more

Advantages Advantages Comfort for 4 or 5, good sounds, great engine and feels planted.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tyre noise magnified into a bass boom at speed on some roads.

Bought 2.50 years old with 22,750 miles showing, it cost £16,450 new but I paid £8,450 OTR from main dealer. I love my cars (and motorbikes) and it was time to replace the RAV4, the question was – with what? I will admit that the Accord was not an obvious first choice, but I am a happy man. Firstly, I found a Sport model in Ferrari red (that’s not what Honda call it, but IT IS, believe me). Secondly, the engine – it’s great, a real Jekyll and Hyde piece of engineering. Lets start on the outside. With the sport that means you get a front air dam below the bumper, side skirts/mouldings to ... more

Advantages Advantages looks nicer than the standard saloon

Disadvantages Disadvantages doesnt perform like a "sport model"

Got the car brand new (2002 version), bight red. Very nice car, like the white dials on the dashboard. Looks sporty, having twin exhaust, and wide tyres, but bit disappointed with acceleration and road handling. Car is now a couple of years old, engine has loosened off somewhat, now accelerates much better (although not as quick as i would like), Not any problems as yet, although the door trim has come off inside, (but is still covered under warranty). One complaint is the bonnet chips easily, although i dont see any rust yet. Washers also freeze very easily in winter Nice big boot, but beware ... more

    Advantages Advantages smooth and safe

    Disadvantages Disadvantages bit old(y)

With my somewhat beaten up Vauxhall (dint in car door, crack in windscreen) rapidly approaching MOT time, it was time to part ex it for something a little nicer. Finding a car that was faster than my 1.7 turbo diesel was not going to difficult and after test driving an Omega, a Corsa, an Escort and an Accord the choice was easy. For the money this 1.8 Accord outshone all of the other cars at the garage with Air Conditioning, full electric pack, one owner, low mileage and shiny paintwork. Now I’m no expert on car performance but the Accord does the basics well, drives in a straight line, goes ... more
