Advantages: Cheap to run, Easy to handle, Indestructable Disadvantages: A bit dull, Low speed
I have owned a 2002 honda cg 125 for over a year now and allthough im bored of it and cant wait to get a bigger bike I still think it is one incredible bike.
Like I said ive owned this bike for over a year now and allthough it doesnt look as good as it did when I first got it (now has rust in some areas and a few scratches and dents here and there) it still runs perfectly sound and with no major problems.
The Honda CG has a single cylinder ...

Advantages: Good reliability, fuel economy, ease of servicing, parts availability Disadvantages: Slow going up slopes.
My Honda CG125 is an 06 plate bought from new. This is the fully up to date model, so has great features such as electric start and front disc brake (more about these later in the review). This bike was made in Brazil rather than Japan.
Overall the looks of the bike are a great improvement on previous CG125 designs, especially the smoother lines of the body panels and much larger fuel tank. The only other possible cosmetic improvement I would have ...

...'impact driver' - shortly afterwards Honda went over to 8mm hex-headed bolts on their new machines. I suspect cordless screwdrivers would probably have helped, but we would have to wait 15 years before they became popular!
I fitted a handlebar mounted fairing, which looked brilliant, but also made the bike look a lot bigger, so Plod used to stop me about once a week to see why I was riding what looked like a 'big' bike with 'L' plates! - still, ...

Advantages: Economy and reliability Disadvantages: Lack of power and looks
I bought my 1992 registered CG-125 about 6mths ago after returning to motorcycles following a 13yr break... I'd never sat my test so had to complete my CBT (Compulsary Basic Training) first to get back on the road and then seek out a reliable, learner legal bike to commute to work on.
Previously I'd owned a couple of other small Honda's and found them thoroughly reliable machines, the goal this time again was reliability and also economy for the ...

Advantages: Loads Disadvantages: Less than all other 125cc Motorcycles
I have a Honda CG125, 2005 year, owned from new
I could tell you how good the bike is, like nearly every review of the bike.
But I do not wish to bore you with another identical review saying exactly the same.
I was amazed to find no websites that support the Honda CG125, so I have created one.

Advantages: Cheap, versatile, easy to maintain and economical starter bike Disadvantages: No-frills,zero cred
...when you have the trusty Honda owners manual and toolkit?
The bikes speed isn't awsomely high, but to tell you the truth you aren't looking for speed being a learner. It is great in towns, and can pull away at traffic lights faster than most cars.
The dials are basic,no fuel guage, and only an kickstart, but this is a no-frills bike.
The bike is great to ride, easy to maintain, cheap and remotely good looking with great consumption to boot. What ...

...~63 up to anything faster. Honda rate the bike to something like 67mph. I find unless you’re into the wind, it will happily sit at 70 (on dual-carriage way of course) and I’ve had 74 out of mine on many occasions.
What the bike really lack then is not so much speed (if u want to stay within the limits it’s fine) but it has no power at high speed. Getting from 62/63 up to anything like 70-72mph takes a while. Attempting to overtake something doing ...

Advantages: Fuel economy, "Bomb Proof" engine, Reliable, Cheap to run / insure. Disadvantages: Lack of power, Drum brakes, No thrills bike.
My bike is a honda cg 125 on an 02 plate, nearly four year old now and my model has the electric start and drum brakes front and rear. I have been riding it to work (18 miles per day) now for the past three years and I can honestly say nothing has gone wrong with my bike. The bike is lightweight, body style is ok and the seating position is upright compared to other tourers and commuters.
The cg will literally run on fumes, it will keep going ...

Advantages: cheap to run, simple to service Disadvantages: low power, basic design
I bought one of these when I passed my cbt because it was cheap. First thing I realised was how simple the bike is. I had the kick start version and I know a starter motor version is available as well. My choice I'd go for the starter motor as the kick start can be a pain in winter when trying to start the bike.
The bike is a good first bike to ride and get used to the roads. You only get the basic functions that you need for the road and this ...

...and 125cc motorbikes and the Honda CG125 is used by training establishments because of its ease of operation, its ease of maintenance and its reliability.
So its not meant to be a high thrills bike, I find motorbikes like this one ideal for going shopping with or every day commuting, just doing the normal sort of things, not trying to race off and get very flat and very dead quickly.
Its not a bike for the 'weekend warrior' at all as it doesnt ...

Advantages: Cheap to run, Simplicity, Popularity Disadvantages: Flimsy, Over-rated
The Honda CG125 is probably the first bike that comes to mind when you think of a learner legal, CBT ready cheap bike to get yourself started... The question is, is it the best bike for your pocket money?
In 2002 I found myself in the ownership of a 'X' reg Year 2000 Honda CG 125.
When I realised that 125cc's is what i desired, and the thought of rebuilds turned me away from two strokes, the CG came in to mind and I picked it up in good condition ...

Advantages: great for commuting Disadvantages: sluggish, ugly and boring
Up until recently i owned a cg, and it wasnt too badfor a 125 commuter, it was small light, great on fuel but at the end of the day it is a 125 commuter great for commuting but realy bad for anything else such as crusing around and any other leisure purposes, it is slow on acceleration and top speed and can be outdone by most automatic 125's and it isnt as comfortable to ride as a moped, they rattle and clankin there old age and decrease in value ...

Advantages: Easy to ride, cheap to run, reasonable power and cheap insurance. Disadvantages: Wheels are too thin, doesn't turn heads and is the fastest bike in the world.
If you've just passed your cbt part1 and are after a bike thats cheap to insure and maintain, then the cg is the one for you.
It ain't super fast but it will get you where you want to go and more importantly is better than catching the bus! It will cruise all day at 50mph and will be pushed to 60mph every now and then.If you try to 60mph all the time,it will eventually blow-up!
This bike is not for speed freaks! If you want a 125 machine that ...

Advantages: cheap to run, ultra reliable Disadvantages: rusts very easily
...I praise the old Honda 90 to the hills. One thing I did find wrong was the small petrol tank. The CG is a different matter. Although I have a full licence I love getting more that 100 miles to the gallon. I check it every time. I have owned mine for 16 months with over 8,000 miles on the clock. Don't expect motorway speeds. Do expect reliability and long tyre wear. Its know to get over 33,000 miles from the chain. Oil change is a doddle at 2,500 mile ...
