Advantages Advantages Spacious, economical to run with good handling. A fun ride.

Disadvantages Disadvantages See text of opinion.

I’d better warn you now that this isn’t going to be one of those very technical reviews that are done about cars. My technical knowledge ends roughly where the ignition key goes in and certainly doesn’t extend to putting petrol into the tank. When people talk about “overhead camshaft” I gaze upwards and wonder where it is. I’d simply like to tell you why we got the car, the good bits and the odd niggle. We’ve got two big dogs. When we had one dog and a Honda Civic the dog would get into the back of the car, and sit there quietly, until she was sick ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lovely drive, VFM

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Still very expensive

YIPPEEEEE!!!! There’s nothing quite like the glorious, naïve, rosy eyed, uncertain pleasure of getting a new car. A veritable rush of glee washes over you, filling your senses with an unquestioning feeling of outstanding well-being … the gleam, the sheen, the wonder machine … the robust, unflinching THUNK as well engineered door slams firmly shut with a reassuring feel of quality. It doesn’t last all that long, of course, so enjoy it while it lasts for pretty soon the novelty is over and it’s just a heap of metal, but for a while it least there’s nothing like it, so enjoy it while it lasts ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice looking car with practical benefits

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Rear visibility

I would not think of Honda when it comes to 4 X 4 jeep type off roaders. Landrover,Suzuki and Chrysler Jeep yes! it now seems every motor manufacturer wants to jump on the offroad bandwagon and build a 4 x 4. But the Honda CRV is a nice little car as well as an off roader. I compare it to the Rav 4 and BMW or Mercedes offering. Special edition models of popular cars usually add a number of extra equipment items for little extra cost and that's exactly what Honda offers with its HR-V 'Special Edition'. It comes in 2 flavours of Jeep. A 2 Wheel version and a 4WD version. The difference in Price ... more

Advantages Advantages A successful much loved vehicle

Disadvantages Disadvantages New models cause eyes to wander off to showrooms

Read any set of reviews and you'll find out the CR-V has a lot of friends - do the same for the Freelander and you find it has very few friends. The contrast between these two British built vehicles of similar vintage and some common parts could not be more stark. So I'm writing this without all the technical guff which others have already covered. It's written for the people out there thinking of getting a CR-V because the sad truth for owners is that some of them are now getting extremely cheap - £1500 - £2000. Even the 2001 second version with a revised look is down to £5000-£6000. Both ... more

    4 Stars Honda 4x4 05/03/2008

    Advantages Advantages Lots of space

Disadvantages Disadvantages Would you use it to 4X4

After driving this vehicle even though it was only for an hour i quickly found out that this car has the Honda quality that they are well known for. A estate car that has the means to go off road for some 4x4 experience but i have never seen one on a 4x4 track and would be surprised if anyone would take it on one. As you can see from the picture the car has its own image and I wouldn't no how to describe it, it looks nice as a road car but has to much for a 4x4 car where you want the car to take bangs and crunches, i would be to worried about messing up the paint job. This has excellent boot ... more

Advantages Advantages Lovely drive, good alround view comfortable seat

Disadvantages Disadvantages haven't found any yet

This is the best car I have ever owned ,it's my dream car. We were on the look out for a good family car.A few times before we bought our honda CR-V my other half would go and look around the forcourt of the Honda Garage which is 2 mins away in the car from our house and admire them. I couldn't see what he saw which was a good classy family car with a good boot space etc. We talked about what we would both like .He liked The CR-V and I wanted the Jazz.We couldn't make our minds up so the only thing left was to go for a test drive in both. I drove the jazz first but not as first thought seats ... more

Advantages Advantages plenty of room in cabin and boot. Good climate control. Decent seat upholstery, well laid out cabin

Disadvantages Disadvantages ot as funky looking as the RAV4, wheel spin before 4 wheel drive takes hold.Handbreak is a bit unreliable on hills

We have owned our CRV 2.0 sport for about 2 months, having owned a new RAV4 for 2 years. In rewiews they seem to come out neck-a-neck and I can see why. The Toyota is without a doubt the more exciting car-it is almost faultless. The Honda is bigger both in the cabin and boot and that is why we changed. It has met our expectations completely and again is difficult to fault. The engine in the CRV is powerful and reliable. It is smooth, overtakes like a dream and all you should ever need. The road handling is definately not as good as the RAV. The latter has permanent 4 wheel drive and it shows ... more

Advantages Advantages The interior is excellent, loads of space, lots of storage areas.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very disapointed with the middle lap belt, most cars now have an inertia reel there, this has a lap belt and the catch is different, so many times in the night people have got the two swopped and been unable to click the catch

I bought this car after we had a Vitara, and in comparision to that its great. The interior is excellent, loads of space, lots of storage areas the dash is well set out. The engine really pulls, and you forget what speed you are doing, its a little noisey at the top, but tey maybe due to the standard tyres. BUT... My main niggles are with some of the switches being under the dash, these are the front fogs and sunroof lock out. They are really inconvient to get to and a easy to catch. I didn't like that there was no space for the cd auto changer, so I had to loose the space tray under the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good solid motoring

Disadvantages Disadvantages rear view when parking

A good solid all round motor, on my second one now no problems with either.Fuel consumption is about 27mpg round town and 31 on a trip.Boot space is massive especialy with the back seats folded down, can even get 2 mountain bikes in it.driving position is excellent, high up with good visibility ,controls within easy reach, stereo and cruise is now on the steering wheel which is a god send cos the volume button is on the far left of the stereo.dont no much about rear seating cos im always driving it but kids seem to like it,plenty of space to stretch out in.Handles well got the old traction ... more

    Advantages Advantages Comfortable and Spacious

Disadvantages Disadvantages No exciting gadgets in the cockpit

I have owned my CR-V for about 8 months, and have covered over 11k miles already. Its one of the older models, 1998 and is the base model. I bought it because it fits in well with my leisure activitys, camping, mountain biking and windsurfing, as well as owning a dog. This is my third Honda, and to be honest I would be retisent to buy any other brand of car in the future! The interior is comfortable, and functional, not packed with loads of gadgets but has got all of the things you need. Thi being the basic model, has got no A/C but has got an enormous sunroof, which is electric, and far more ... more
