Advantages: Looks Great, Very reliable, very powerful for a 125 Disadvantages: Turns like a bus as slow speeds, driving position can get painful on wrists
...choose I came across the Honda NSR125 and knew instantly I wanted one! After looking around for a few weeks I eventually bought a 2001 model in Red white and Blue, from a local motorbike dealer for £2200.
-----Style-----
Wow! was my initial thought...the bike looks like a 600cc! Stylish curves and fat wheels. The only give away is the smaller exhaust (and the fact I’ve got 'L' plates). The bike is a definite head turner. The fairings also do ...

Advantages: Cheap, easy to work on. Disadvantages: None, it does exactly what it says on the tin.
I’m writing this from memory so you will have to excuse some of the details I may miss.
I bought an NSR125 about 6 years ago second hand, it was the old styling where there were 2 colors available, white and red.
I rode it on a moped license with “L” plates which you could do at the time as long as it was restricted (I don’t know if you can do it now)?
Then after 6 months I passed my test, kept it another 6 months and ...

Advantages: Quick off the mark, superb feel, looks the business. Disadvantages: Fiddly design makes routine maintenance awkward. Turns like a bus at low speeds.
I passed the Compulsory Basic Training about a month ago, and picked up a brand new NSR125 the same day. I looked at a couple of bikes, but being 6ft3 and built like a brick out-building, my choices were somewhat limited.
The NSR125 looks like a 500cc, the only real give-away being the scaled down exhaust. It's a two-stroke engine which is great for being first away from the traffic lights!
Being the only bike I've ridden, aside from the Yamaha ...

...whom wanted to sell a Honda NSR125. I know you must be wondering why that and not another. Anyway, I was little confused about all the rules on motorcycling but was glad to find that as I had passed my test none applied to me.
The Honda NSR 125 is a watercooled single cylinder machine the most expensive of the 125 cc machines that Honda makes it has some interesting features and is at the most fasionable end of the market for learner and commuter ...

Advantages: excelent handling, easy to ride Disadvantages: weight, handlebar position.
ever since the NSR first came on the market, I wanted one.
I was immediately drawn to it. It looks sharp. a great bike to stand next at boxhill on a sunny sunday afternoon and say 'this one's mine'.
the ride position is definitely very sporty. you can just feel yourself moulding to the tank as you reduce air drag.
The throttle talks to you, saying quietly in your ear,'open me up, come on, you can do more, that's it, keep going'.
It seems ...

Advantages: Fantastic appearence, good handling, cheap to run, the list goes on Disadvantages: Can be difficult to corner, insurance, attractive to thieves
...125, but it's very reliable. Honda make great bikes that are very reliable and easy to ride.
The only downside to the bikes appearance is that it is very attractive to thieves. My advice for any rider is to forget about immobilisers and alarms and simply get a nice thick chain. Also a disc lock can come in useful but i would never leave my bike unchained, not even for 5 minutes.
The handling is fantastic, however cornering at low speeds is ...

Advantages: Smart looking learner legal sports, fastest acceleration in the category, comfy and practical for just about every need. Disadvantages: Not quite in the same league performance wise as the aprilia rs125 and cagiva mito.New UK spec bikes are more pricey than they should be.
...Now we come to the Honda NSR125R this bike is not as fast/light or (in more conflicting terms) attractive/exciting as the rs/mito, BUT in the NSR's side its secret weapon is that they are more reliable than Big Ben, plus have the benefit of comfy(er) travel for both rider and pillion.
Choosing the NSR
This is what in the end tilted my choice, as i cant afford to be repairing it every couple of months, this and the fact that i found it to be ...

CBT
Okay, I did my CBT back in June after being obsessed with getting a bike for a year. Not too expensive... generally between 70 and 100 pounds. Easy peezey but take my advice if you can't get to grips with the gears off road don't worry. Ask if you can do the on road on a moped. They're much easier to ride and still entitle you to ride up to a 125 cc on the road for two years on L plates. Then get your bike and practise on a car park with out ...

Advantages: Fast for a 125, nippy and a superb clutch. Haddles brilliant above 10mph, better than the RS125. Disadvantages: Haddling not so great at low speeds, quite heavy 132kg. Also very easy to flood the engine. Small tyres.
...Yet this might seem impossible, Honda have come to the rescue yet again with another fabulously built, desirable, practical and reliable bike.
Honda are famous for building high performance but reliable engines, and the Honda NSR125R is no exception. This little beast can reach excess speeds of 100mph. Thats faster than a 17-year olds 1.2 Nova! So if you are thinkin of buying a Sports 125, don't sit their reading reviews, contact your local Honda ...

...one of which was the Honda NSR 125.
This truly is a great bike for new riders as it has quite a comfortable ride and has extremely forgiving handling. Though it looks like quite a large bike for 125cc's, it is nimble and filters through traffic well.
I have had no reliability problems and even in winter, the engine starts fine.
It's really cheap to run; I've been getting about 65 miles per gallon out of it.

Advantages: Looks Handling, acceleration and lively engine Disadvantages: Seating position, small engine requires quick gear changes
The Honda NSR 125 is an exceptional bike to buy after doing a CBT. It is not as dull as the CG125's that are used so widely in the Test centres around the country. It's lively 2-stroke engine gives it that extra zip and acceleration. I have been informed that they can go up to 100mph derestricted and up to 75mph restricted. The advantage of the NSR is that it is a bulky bike and a replica of Sports bikes. It has very fancy panelling and very good ...
