The best bike ever made
Review of Honda VFR 750 by
peteshone
Advantages: Speed, comfort, handling, reliability, economy, class
Disadvantages: None
How did Honda do it? Back in 1986 when the VFR750 was first introduced Honda was on the slippery slope to motorcycle oblivion.
They had proved to one and all that they couldn't make a reliable V4 engine. The early eighties V4 engined models, the VF500 and VF750, both blew up if ridden hard, and wore cam chains out at an alarming rate regardless Honda's in line four cylinder bikes were failing in comparison to faster rivals from Suzuki, and more ...

Very Fast Red used bike
Review of Honda VFR 750 by
Chewa
Advantages: Fantastic engine, perfect build quality, lack of flashy graphics
Disadvantages: Come on, it's a VFR, there are none. Ok, brakes a bit lacking in feel
The Honda VFR 750 has, in its later forms, been rated as the best all rounder of the two wheel world. How does a used example stack up against the seductive charms of newer flashier models.?
I've had mine for 18 months now , it being a late model 750, made just before the fuel injected 800 was produced. It's the bike I got back into biking for, a combination of restrained styling and swiss watch like engineering.
The heart of the bike, the wonderful ...

Commuter, tourer and track day tool
Review of Honda VFR 750 by
karter257
Advantages: Can an all rounder do anymore than a VFR?
Disadvantages: Quite heavy
1996 VFR 750 bought second hand a year back. Since then I've done just under 10,000 miles (now 30k on the speedo) which have included regular commuting, touring France, track day at Cadwell Park, advanced training around Wales (two up in the rain) and it has been great on every occassion.
Being 166cm (5'5" I think) I find it just a little heavy especially with the top box packed. But generally no problems. I have dropped it 3 times all at stationary ...

VFR Class Speed
Review of Honda VFR 750 by
Allano
Advantages: Cost, speed, reliability, handling, understated
Disadvantages: Can't find any
Acquired this aged and classy machine but a month ago. Its a VFR F of 1989 with braided hoses, 4 into one stainless can and scotoiler, with 39K. It's so well made it feels lots younger. Advantages, smooth power delivery, lovely hydraulic clutch, neutral safe handling and a beguilingly ordinairy image. Torquey engine piles on the power wherever its needed for effortless overtaking. It's rather quiet but with an appealing exhaust burble and the cam ...

Girl on a motorcycle
Review of Honda VFR 750 by
sarah_johnson99
Advantages: Reliability and all round excellence
Disadvantages: Relatively expensive for a good second hand one
Yes, I know girls on biggish bikes are fairly rare but I bought a VFR 3 years ago and it's one of the best buys I've ever made.
I'm quite tall for a girl (5'10") so I don't find the height a problem. I mainly use it for commuting to work (30 mile round trip) and it's never let me down. I haven't done huge amounts of touring, just the odd day, but it's just so great to ride.
It's a 1997 model, incidentally, the last year before they made the ...
