3 Stars A U.S Dirt Devil by Hoover U.K Review with images 10/06/2011

Advantages Advantages It works - if you continue to maintain it - lightweight, easy to use if you remove squeegee strip.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Plastic quality leaves a lot to be desired, high price, escaping dust.

The moment I opened the box I knew that what I had actually bought was a Dirt Devil Vibe upright which is not available to buy here but exclusive to the U.S. For comparisons though, Vax’s V045 (itself a Dirt Devil model) Quicklite upright without the hose and small tools attached is its distant cousin. I’ve often admired the little Vax even though it is noisy and lacks a hose; it reminds me of my old Oreck XL which was just as capable if not noisier and has the same lightweight appeal. This is probably why Hoover have decided to do their own version and sell it in the UK; amongst so many ... more

This vacuum cleaner is a disgrace to the name of Hoover. It does not perform in any way that is satisfactory. I have contacted Hoover, and have been told that I should keep it in the bedroom for cleaning the bedroom only! That I should not have cats! and when I explained that I had to completely dismantle it three times in twenty minutes vacuuming, I was told that was what I should expect! Furthermore I was told it was not intended for cleaning stairs! Customer services were an insult. I shall report to Watchdog.

This is the worst hoover i have ever had the displeasure to use. Aside from the fact that it is so lightweight that it is constantly falling over when using the suction hose, it is extremely noisy. I am not joking when i say that it physically hurts my ears when using it. It makes my 2 children run for cover in other rooms. I have only had it 4 months and have decided that the best place for this hoover is the rubbish tip. Save your money and go for a Numatic Henry. it is a far superior product for ... more

Seriously Bad I purchased this cleaner as it implide that it would be lightweight and easy to use and my wife who has difficulty using the larger upright cleaners. I am not joking when I say it exhausts me using it as it is almost impossable to push. There is no adjustment on the brush height so you are stuck with this difficulty. Emptying the cylinder is a difficult and dirty experience. One of our all-time worst buys!

    Advantages Advantages None

Disadvantages Disadvantages Does not roll easily. Hard work to push. Nozzle nips when using tools.

I bought this vac because it is 'Hoover' and sold as 'lightweight. But it is the most difficult vac I have ever used. It will not run over carpets easily, will not tilt to go between chair legs - only two positions : Upright or flat. The cable is too short to cope with a single room from one plug. Stairs are a problem because the pipe is too tight to allow the vac to stay upright at the bottom of the satirs as in the illustration. And the join between the tool and the pipe end nips badly. I feel I was conned by the TV promotion and would return it but of course I have used it! Do yourself a ... more
