Horlicks comes in a range which is split into original, and light. The original varieties are designed to be made up with hot milk, whereas the light drink is to be made up with hot water. ...What is it? Horlicks is an instant malted drink which can be made with either milk or hot water depending on your preference. It is said to help you sleep and it certainly does this for me. In addition to the sleep inducing benefits, a single mug of Horlicks is a great source of calcium and major vitamins, much better than popping a vitamin pill. Horlicks is a malted hot drink made with milk, which is marketed as the ideal drink for bedtime based on the old wives tale that a warm milky drink before you go to bed relaxes you and promotes a restful night’s sleep. Horlicks is essentially a warm milky drink which in itself can help relax the body. My Grandmother always drank a mug of warm milk before bedtime. She claimed it helped her to sleep better, the scientific reasoning behind this is not entirely clear and many of its benefits may actually be psychological but milk proteins can help settle the stomach and reduce the effects of indigestion.

...you do have memories of Horlicks and childhood. Even if you’ve never tasted it before, Horlicks can catapult you back to a simpler time. There is a reason for this.
