The DS system is held like a book, which allows characters on the screens to face left or right for more realistic conversations. The unique controls let even novices enjoy...
more...themselves. The unique hand-drawn character portraits and their animations are in black and white, making them exceedingly distinctive and able stand out, graphically speaking, from the rest of the game. In the tradition of Trace Memory, the use of the DS to solve riddles is alive and well in Hotel Dusk: Room 215. Los Angeles, 1979. Players take the role of Kyle Hyde, an ex-cop turned salesman trying to track down a missing friend. Clues lead to an eerie, old hotel rumored to have one very strange room - a room where wishes are granted. Players check in and get ready for a night of surprises as they meet a cast of unusual characters and try to unravel the mystery in Hotel Dusk: Room 215, a gritty new graphic adventure for the Nintendo DS. Features: Players hold their Nintendo DS like a book and use the touch screen to grill characters, search for clues and solve mystifying puzzles. Players follow the plot twists and turns as they hunt for their missing friend and investigate the mysteries of Hotel Dusk.

Revolutionary for DS
Review of Hotel Dusk - Room 215 (NDS) by crispin1984

Advantages: Stylish, Good Storyline
Disadvantages: Hard to get into, need patience

...for the DS. Overview: To best describe Hotel Dusk you could say it is an interactive novel in which you guide the main character Kyle Hyde through a storyline that is strife with mystery and betrayal. Ingeniously, whilst playing you have to hold your DS vertically, like a book. The two screens are then cleverly split so that the left hand screen shows a first person view, while the touch screen shows a plan view of the are through which you ... Read review

Hotel Dusk - The ultimate mystery?
Review of Hotel Dusk - Room 215 (NDS) by halawin123

Advantages: Good combination of stories into one, mixture of characters.
Disadvantages: Long game play, cheesy music, needs some patience.

...Smith - The owner of Hotel Dusk. A little grumpy at times and likes to tell fairy tales about the rooms. Jeff Angel - A guest at Hotel Dusk who stays in Room 213. He is the guest who brings Mila to the hotel. Maybe more to him than meets the eye? Melissa Woodward - A very young girl staying in Room 219 with her father. She's looking for her mother. Kevin Woodward - Melissa's father and a surgeon. He tends to yell at Melissa quite alot. ... Read review

Revival of adventure games

Advantages: Interesting and enjoyable plot, atmosphere, level of interactivity
Disadvantages: Slow paced and no extras so no reply value

...task has taken him to Hotel Dusk. His own backstory involves a search for his old, dead partner who he believes to be alive. Upon arriving at the hotel you are immediately thrown into the mystery, Kyle's name was used by someone that stayed at the hotel previously. There are various other guests at the hotel and instead of taking the easy route of divulging backstory about each guest with limited immersion, the game forces you to discover the ... Read review

A great book with some interactivity
Review of Hotel Dusk - Room 215 (NDS) by rwip

Advantages: excellent plot, great graphics
Disadvantages: linear, possibly repetitive sound (whether it annoys you or not)

...chat with people in the hotel and the story unfolds. It is that story that drives this game to greatness. It felt like a novel or comic with a strong plot and while it delivers it much like a novel it is still great. I cannot recommend this to someone who is not willing to read lots. You will walk about, maybe do a puzzle but have many conversations on the way. The characters are colourful and for one of the few times your character you control ... Read review

Hotel Dusk - A murder mystery
Review of Hotel Dusk - Room 215 (NDS) by wulfy

Advantages: Addictive gameplay with an interesting story and plenty of puzzles
Disadvantages: Needs better guidance

I would recommend Hotel Dusk to anyone who enjoys puzzle-based role playing games but not if you are impatient. You play the part of Kyle Hyde, an ex-cop staying at a strange hotel, trying to solve a mystery from his past and work out what is going on at the hotel. You hold the DS like a book and use the stylus to move around, investigate objects and talk to other characters. The game is divided into chapters of one hour (game time) and you have ... Disadvantages: Very poor game play

...sent to stay in this hotel over night. Whilst there he met an ex con who he used to know. Found someone who might know her long lost son. Sorted out a young lads life. And then established that everyone else staying in the hotel was connected to an Art Gallery and a mobster gang. Wish I had never bought this game, had to finish the game though, which I have done - and now sold it. ... Read review

Hotel Dusk - Room 215
Review of Hotel Dusk - Room 215 (NDS) by clarkee22

Advantages: Complete control over the game, fun, good storyline
Disadvantages: Some of the puzzles are a bit easy

I took my time getting this game because I had read a lot of reviews and thought it would be very boring, as everyone was saying there's so much reading to do. Well, I've played and enjoyed Phoenix Wright, and after that, nothing's a lot of reading! I really got into this game very quickly, and found the reading to be minimal. I really enjoyed the fact that you actually move the character around, and can examine anything, it's exactly what I was hoping ... Read review

Disadvantages: Limited longevity, sounds a little limited

...and you have come to Hotel Dusk in search of your ex- partner called Bradley. You shot Bradley years ago, but the player does not know why until the very end. There are very strange coincidences at the Hotel, such as someone you arrested years ago appearing as the bellboy there. The first chapters are a little boring, however, towards the end the story becomes so gripping you will find this game impossible to put down! When you have completed the ... Read review
