Advantages: Easy to Use Website Disadvantages: Don't Expect a Refund in a Hurry!!
I used Hotels.com to book two hotels in New York one at the beginning of my holiday (in August 2007) and one at the end and I ended up with two very different experiences. I booked the first New York hotel for one night while I was still in England and was pleased to have a smooth hassle free transaction. The hotel was excellent, I could not fault it for the price, clean, quiet, friendly staff and a lovely breakfast the next day.
After such a pleasant ... ...told me he had informed Hotels.com so a refund should not be a problem. I felt lost and confused as I did not know the area at all and was worried where I would find another hotel with a room available, lucky the driver from the free pick up bus found me another hotel near the airport.
When I arrived back in England I checked my emails to find an email from Hotels.com informing me of the power cut but this was too late as I had already paid for ...

Advantages: can log in and remember hotels, easy search engines, compatible and cheap prices Disadvantages: none so far!
...The majority of the time, hotels.com has been cheaper than booking through the hotel itself! Of course, it is a personal choice as to how long you are willing to spend trawling travel sites, but having booked and stayed in 14 hotels in the past two months (we are traveling across the States at present), I am happy to book with hotels.com every time, partly to save time and partly because I am happy that I am getting the best deal.
Hotels.com offers ... ...Having signed up for the hotels.com newsletter, I frequently receive offers of the week and information on packages and freebies. ***Note that many offers are available if you search an book on a TUESDAY.***
Although it is not a necessity, you can create an account on hotels.com. This allows you to bookmark hotels as 'favourites', allows the site to remember your previous searches and allows you to check your past and forthcoming hotel stays. The ...

...Watch for non-refundable fares, that hotels.com will put in. Check and read "carefully" cancellation policy for everything!!! Most of the time, it is is the hotels policy, which is typically 1-3 days prior to the stay, which I find reasonable. But they offer some rooms as NON-REFUNDABLE, and when you book these you are stuck with what you booked!!! Also, the free nights when you go to redem your free nights online hotels.com does not let you book ...
