Advantages Advantages Large drum. 15 wash cycles. Reliable manufacturer. 3 year guarantee.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive

I have had the Hotpoint WMD960P Washing Machine for about a year and, bearing in mind I probably go through about five loads of washing a day (I have a large and dirty family!!), it has certainly been put through its paces. I bought it off of an electrical company on Ebay for £459.00, which is actually more than I wanted to pay, but I trust the Hotpoint name and so preferred to go for quality rather than a cheaper option that may need replacing earlier. The main body of the washer is indistinguishable really from any other washing maching....it just looks like a washing machine, nothing less ... more

Advantages Advantages Digital Display, Customisable, Memory, Delay Start

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wash times longer than stated, smaller porthole.

I recently purchased this washing machine as a replacement for an older, tired Whirlpool Washer/Dryer. My previous machine was a 1000rpm speed and was deafeningly loud. Although I was initially dubious by the claims of the machines "super silent" features, I was very impressed by the performance that the machine gives whilst still being quiet. Even on the full 1600 spin it is quite quiet - not silent obviously, but when purchasing, the sales team were honest and friendly enough to point out that super silent doesn't mean silent and that there would be some noise. The digital display is very ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, varied programs, super quiet

Disadvantages Disadvantages Countdown timer occasionally gets lost

Having been unhappy with our last washing machine, an LG, we opted for a family favourite in Hotpoint, and we were not disappointed. The Hotpoint WMD960 washing machine comes in white as WMD960P or “graphite” under model number WMD960G. It is a Hotpoint Ultima, 1600 spin washing machine, with a huge 8kg capacity drum and graded with an “AAA” washing and energy efficiency rating. It has a spacious front opening with a left-hinged door and child lock. It boasts 15 wash programs, including wool (Platinum Care Woolmark), silk, bed and bath, fast wash, eco, mini load and time saver modes, and ... more

Advantages Advantages Quiet, economical, useful wash cycles.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None so far.

This is a great washing machine, very quiet. I chose the 8kg size because I hate to waste water, soap powder and electricity on a small wash, when you can wash a much bigger pile of clothes using the same amounts. I wanted to see what 8kg of washing looked like, and I discovered that 8kg of washing is huge. To weigh your washing, stand on a weighing machine, weigh yourself, then pick up the bundle of clothes to be washed, and see what the difference is. I was worried I might overload it as it only takes 3.5kg of synthetics, but synthetics are much lighter, therefore you get more clothes for ... more

Advantages Advantages Half load facility, Delay Timer

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No handwash setting

On the whole a very easy to use machine, especially regarding program selection, and it also comes with a clear digital display. The machine remembers your last wash setting, so it is easy to start the next one. It gives a beep when the cycle has finished, although it does not switch off (i.e. the display panel is still on). However, it is an exceptionally quiet machine. Regarding wash performance, a 40 degree wash only takes around an hour and a half to do and the spin performance of 1600rpm gives you a lot dryer clothes than other machines. It has a large 8 kg wash capacity which is great ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent for the busy family

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None so far

I have had this particular model of the Hotpoint WMD960P for around 8 months now and can honestly say that I have no complaints at all. I needed a washing machine that could cope with a high capacity and this is certainly true of this model. With a plethora of settings available I have found that I only use about 4 of them. There is a wonderful half load facility, and quick wash facility for those times you need something in a real hurry - I use this one an awful lot, and two short length wash facilities. I would recommend that you cut down the amount of detergent you use though, as this ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Hotpoint WMD960P by ClaireEJ 31/08/2008
Very impressed with this machine. Excellent for families. Has a huge drum, plenty of choice of programmes that you can adjust to your own requirements and save in the memory. Variable spin up to 1600 which really dries your clothes. Child lock (essential) to stop them from changing your cycle while in use. Digital timer showing how long left, half load and Eco option. Can't find anything negative to say about it. Would highly recommend. Purchased from Appliances online. Best price and paid £9.99 to have delivered next day. Excellent service!!

1 Star Quick review of Hotpoint WMD960A by marc69 11/01/2009
Very good for the first three months, then it stopped working. Repaired under guarantee - Entire 'brain' and pump replaced. Now two weeks later F18 errors even with a light load. I am not impressed. I can not exchange, and have to live with it. F18 is 'unbalanced load' and is aparently my fault for loading the machine incorrectly. Never had the error before, and now the error occurs with even a few shirts! Looking for a new machine, and will dump this one before the end of the month. F18 halts the program and the washing has to be restarted. ... more

Advantages Advantages washer and dryer in one.

Disadvantages Disadvantages cycles take forever, will make quite a noise when it operates at 1600 speed spin.

How they can call this machine super silent I don't know. Users who say it is quite are not using the 1600 spin (granted this is only on offer for the cotton cycle). Although visually the machine looks good with a digital display, the brains seem very old and I am very disappointed as I expected a lot from this appliance. If I could return it I would get a low cost washer and dryer as two separate machines - thats what I have in my second property and it works like a dream and costs about the same. Creases Galore (The drum is fairly small even though the wash is rated at 8kg). Larger drums = ... more
