Humax PVR 9200 C

Advantages: Large memory, twin tuners, easy to use
Disadvantages: Some minor problems still unresolved, noisy

...We bought our Humax PVR-9200T not long after moving into our new house in December 2005. We decided on the Humax PVR as it came with a Freeview set up and the facility to record programmes along with a host of other minor functions. For those of you in the dark ages or still on analogue TV, PVR stands for 'Personal Video Recorder' and is essentially a computer type hard drive contained in a TV receiver box. This PVR is a link between my aerial and my TV so I can watch nice crisp digital TV, our PVR's work with cable or satellite TV. I decided to use the Humax for a year before writing a review on it, however I feel that I am now writing about something that is nearly obsolete with the recent push for High Definition TV (HDTV). Advantages: Series Link, large hard drive, easy to use

...I bought this product to replace my "blown up" Digifusion fusion box and I am very impressed with it. It has a massive 160Gb hard drive, very easy to use and intuitive interface and the thing I like most of all is "Series Link". As a sky user for many years, I have missed this function, but now it is available on Freeview ! I Bought the Silver version (9200T/S) and it looks very stylish. One tip I would recommend is as soon as it is plugged in and powered up, do a manual, over the air, software update, this will update the firmware to the latest version and give you all the latest features and fixes, including the series link option. ...I have had this model since February 2007 and it is now something I "could not be without". The simple set-up and use make this an easy chioce even for the non-technical. Recording is the Humax's strongest feature and this has been made simple by one button press. The manual included in the box has its limitations and I would recommend anyone who needs to know more about this machine to visit www.hummy.org.uk. This site give all levels of information and help with using and maintaining the Humax 9200T. Not least of the help subjects is updating the Humax internal software to enable new features. Highly recommended. One feature new users may question is the slow loading of the EPG. This is a design feature and can be explained by visiting the above site too. A 2 year maker's Warranty makes this a great buy.... Read review
