NOISIER THAN KIDS

AdvantagesFUN

DisadvantagesNOISY

"MY CHILDREN INHERITED THIS GAME OF HUNGARY HIPPOS FROM MYSELF. I ALWAYS END UP PLAYING TOO AS IT IS FOR 4 PLAYERS AND I HAVE ONLY 3 CHILDREN. THEY HAVE LOTS OF FUN AND I ALWAYS MANAGE TO FIND THE BALLS UNDER THE SOFA DAYS AFTER, AS THEY GET RATHER EXCITED AND THE BALLS FLY IN ALL DIRECTIONS. IT IS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY AS THIS GAME HAS BEEN IN THE FAMILY FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND IS STILL IN ONE PIECE SO IT MUST BE VERY DURABLE. EVERY HOUSEHOLD WITH ..." Read review

A silly, simple classic

Advantagesgreat fun in short doses, good for younger kids, simple and colourful, tactile

Disadvantagesnot very educational, limited longevity, small parts mean young kids must be supervised

"Distributed by MB Games, Hungry Hippos is a novel, incredibly simple and endearingly fun board-game designed for young children. The game consists of a plastic square enclosure in which four plastic 3D hippos sit, each with a lever on their back that, when pressed, causes the hippos to lever open their mouths then close them again, and into this arena lots of little plastic balls are placed, whereupon the race is then on to hammer away at each player's ..." Are you a hungry Hippo?

AdvantagesEasy to set up, easy to play fun for the whole family.

DisadvantagesNone.

It is designed for two or more players and is suitable from ages four and up and supervision is recommended due to the possibility of choking on some of the smaller parts. Hungry children, noisy hippos...

AdvantagesGreat fun and a game no child should go without playing

DisadvantagesNoisy, disappearing balls.

"...the MB games edition of Hungry Hippos, it was bought for me on my 18th birthday but I also owned it as a child. It is a classic game that everyone has heard of and that most people have played. The general objective seems to be to lose as many balls as you can, while making as much noise as you can! The official objective of course is to hoard as many balls as you can by pushing a lever which will make your Hippo lurch forwards and gobble up anything ..." Read review

Disadvantagesi missed out as kid with this one!

"I always wanted this game as a kid but my mum always said it was too noisy and didnt do much.....so I rebelled and purchased a game for my daughter when she was about 5, we spent many a hour playing the game and making as much noise as we possibly could....because we could!!! The idea of the game is to spring your hippos tail so that his head lunges forward and catches one of the balls placing it in your section, the winner is of course the one with ..." Read review

One of the best games of all time

AdvantagesIt is very funny

DisadvantagesOnce you lose the balls there aren't any to replace them

"...their pool, or the least hungry hippo. The game is a fast and furious game, which is very funny and provides many-a-joke for years to come. My cousins had this game and we always used to play it. Not long ago they got it out again and we played it. It was one of the funniest things i had done for a while. This is an excellent game for all age groups and is a classic that should go down in history with connect four and scrabble. The thing i also ..." Read review

Nom nom nom Hungry Hippos

AdvantagesEasy

DisadvantagesNoisy

"...That's why it is called Hungry Hippos! ==Playing== As aforementioned, the game tends to be very noisy and very frantic. It involves very little skill and it typically just the luck of the draw as to who manages to get the most balls in the hippos mouth. At the end of the game, the number of balls are counted up, whoever has the most, wins the game! ==Overall== I think this appeals to children over the age of 7 mostly. The small white balls would ..." Read review

Noisy, Clattery, kids love it.

AdvantagesEasy to buy, easy to learn

DisadvantagesEasy to get bored too.

"...to catch balls with their hungry hippos by pushing a lever, a case of the fastest finger (or fist) first if ever I saw one. The game is cheap and widely available, and if you have one or two small ones about 6 or so, then you can have a lot of fun with this as it's quite easy to let them win if you are that way inclined. Because of it's cheapness, this game won't last long if you abuse it a lot, and the balls can fly about sometimes, but a ..." Read review

Hungry Hippos

AdvantagesFun for the kids

DisadvantagesMakes too much noise

"I used to love this game when I was younger. It is the perfect game to drive your mum and dad up the wall. It is incredibley noisy and heptic. It is for a maximum of 4 players as there are 4 hippos to control. At the beginning of the game you place the balls evenly in the little base by the hippo and take it in turns to release one. Then everyone bashes the leaver on the back of their hippo to move it's mouth towards the ball that was released. ..." Read review

Great fun for everyone

AdvantagesCheap and good fun

DisadvantagesSmall white balls get everywhere

"We bought hungry hippos a couple of years ago for my daughter at Christmas time. It consist of four different coloured hippos who by pressing a lever gobble up the little white balls. The aim of the game is to obviously see which hippo has eaten the most. I think that this game is really good fun although when my kids are playing it in their room, you would think that the ceiling was going to come down because it is quite noisy. The thing is that ..." Drives you nuts!!!

Advantagesits a game so they play it

DisadvantagesNOISE!!! So kids like it because you hate it

"This game seems quite good when it is in the box but when you get it out, the pain killers come in. It involves lots and lots of marbles. The hippos are operated by the players hitting a handle making the hippo open its mouth and slide forward, when you let go it closes it mouth and slide back dropping any marbles caught into your hippos home. The one with the most marbles wins. What a din it makes! The marbles are shooting round the game, the kids ..." Read review

Hippy hippos

Advantagesgood fun and value

Disadvantagescan get boring

"I first played this game about 2 years ago with my friends daughter. It was a really fun game, even for someone my age. The idea of the game is to collect as much food as you can so your hippo won't go hungry. There are four hippos, a pink one, a green one, a yellow one and a blue one. You place the balls in the centre of the hippo ring and make your hippo munch by pulling up and down the lever. The one who eats the most balls at the end is the ..." Read review
