    Advantages Advantages keeps you occupied

Disadvantages Disadvantages esay to lose parts of the game

As I am the oldest I have a younger brother and sister. My brother is only one so way to young for this game but my sister is six and this is a game she really likes. I myself also used to own this game when I was younger and would enjoy playing this with my mother. However not so much fun now i'm older and when babysitting my sister this feels somewhat of a chore! But least it keeps her entertaned for awhile i guess. This is a four player game only and you need a minium of two people to play each time. To start with when you get the game it requires an easy and fast set up, basically click and ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to set up, easy to play fun for the whole family.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

Hungry hippos is suitable for the whole family. It is designed for two or more players and is suitable from ages four and up and supervision is recommended due to the possibility of choking on some of the smaller parts. Inside the sturdy cardboard box, you will receive one plastic base four hippos for levers and four hippo heads. In addition to this, you will also receive 20 marbles and a set of instructions. The game is incredibly easy to setup, and also very easy to play. The aim of the game is to press down the lever to open your hippos mouth and close it, hopefully snagging yourself a ... more

Advantages Advantages great noisy fun, sturdy game

Disadvantages Disadvantages i missed out as kid with this one!

I always wanted this game as a kid but my mum always said it was too noisy and didnt do much.....so I rebelled and purchased a game for my daughter when she was about 5, we spent many a hour playing the game and making as much noise as we possibly could....because we could!!! The idea of the game is to spring your hippos tail so that his head lunges forward and catches one of the balls placing it in your section, the winner is of course the one with the most balls at the end of the game. Dont expect too much from this game it is just fun and noise and more fun! My 2 year old boy has now ... more

Overview Hungry Hippos was a classic game from the 1980s. It was a game I always wanted to play as a child and the parents were typically reluctant to let me play due to the incessant noise. Luckily as I had two hands, I could essentially play against myself if no one else wanted to play...everyone's a winner that way! How to play Hungry Hippos is a specially designed plastic board with one "hippo" on each side. There is a leaver on the back of each hippo which allows their mouth to open and close. You get about 40 mini white balls that are distributed in the middle of the board and each ... more

These hippos all have handles attached to them you have to move the handle up and down as this action will move the hippos mouths to scoop up all the balls that are released the player to scoop up the most balls is the winner. Advantages The first time you play this you will enjoy it so much as its so frantic and wild whilst playing it. Advantages Advantages A good game...........................

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy....................

The Hungry Hippos game consists of a whole group of marbles placed in the center of a round, dish-like plastic tray with 4 different-coloured hippos which are attached. The colours of the hippos are pink, green, blue, yellow and the balls are white. The hippos extend forward and scoop marbles towards the player when a tab is pushed down. When the game starts, the players from 2 upto 4 try to scoop as many marbles as possible into their tray. I have some objections to this game. It is abit noisy when the hippos are eating. In addition, I think if a group of different aged children are playing ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent fun game for children.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Parents will soon get annoyed by the loud banging

It is amazing how much fun children have while making a lot of noise! Hungry hippies, is a four player game that involves hand eye coordination and an abundance of fun. Situated around a plastic board, where four sets of colored balls are placed, are four 'hungry hippoes'. These 'hungry hippoes', a contraption that you hit on the head to push out a scoop, eat up all the balls in the middle. The idea is to 'eat' all your colored balls, before all the other hippos eat theirs. The winner is the one who eats their colored balls first. There are many variations on the game, making it harder or ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lots of fun

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Small pieces

I love this toy. I loved it as a child and I love it now every time I babysit for a child that has one. I volunteer to play this one with them and they seem to love it as well. It is fun, fast paced, competitive, and can elicit a lot of laughs! The only problem is you must keep it away from small children because it has small pieces (the balls that the hippos "eat") and you wouldn't want a small child swallowing one. However, as long as you have children old enough to play it, it is a great inexpensive toy that will get your children off the phones and game boxes and playing together with ... more

    Advantages Advantages no batteries needed

    Disadvantages Disadvantages over very quickly

We bought this game for our daughter who is nearly three and she enjoyed playing with it for a few weeks although she has become bored with it now and lost several of the white marbles. The good thing about the game is that it does not require batteries or power. It was quite fiddly to put together and when assembled it does not fit back into the box. It is very noisy when being played and over pretty quickly. I do not think the game has enough about it to amuse a child for long. I bought this from Argos for approximately £15 but have seen it cheaper on Amazon . I would not recommend the game ... more
