She trusts my judgment about cars and many other things, as she earns her dough at least as hard as I do, her burden being harder with a recent divorce and a 5 year old son to both mother and father at the same time.     Advantages Advantages Fantastic value for money.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor interior, poorly engineered engine and bad resale value.

    I have to admit, I'm a huge fan of Japanese cars. They're reliable, they're quite well loaded with toys and they have good resale value. Buy a Toyota or Honda and you know it's going to last longer than the moon! But these cars are always about 20% more than the equivalent Ford or Renault. So now we have a problem. You want the reliablity of a Japanese car but don't want to pay the premium. Sounds like a trade off? Well, there may be a happy medium you can have. The Hyundai Getz is generally touted as the best car Hyundai make. This is quite a bold claim. But the figures are pretty impressive ... more

    Ok, ok. Maybe the title is a bit harsh, and it is a bit late, but I was just browsing this wonderful site (as you do) and remebered a very poor rental car I got when I was last abroad. Yes, you guessed it, it was a hyundai Getz. I saw another positive review of this car here, and couldn't believe what I read. It's probably becuase the poerson had spent their own money on the car and so had to justify it.     hey - reading car reviews is often quite a scary business for me, they seem to be extremelly detailed about the ins and outs of engines and mechanical bits and pieces. This is all very good and well as they provide excellent amounts of information. However i'm ashamed to admit that my main questions when faced with new cars are what does it look like what does it have inside how does it move so my aim today is to write a review for those of you - who like me always ask "what colour is it?"     Having tried out a few of its peers I plumped for a Getz and was very impressed. Value for money is something I actively pursue, think its inherited from my father who used to having me rumaging through rubbish tips when i was young trying to find some hidden treasures. And we did find some!!!! Anyhow, I was in the mood for a new car as my 2 yr old 106 was a very poor choice, it kept breaking down!! A lot!! for no reason and it never got put right despite numerous attempt at the dealership.     This car was chosen by my parents so I didn't have much of a say in it (why would I, it's their car). The car looks very boxy and unimaginative. Give me a ruler and 10 minutes and I could come up with a better shape. The interiors are good quality, if a little plastic fantastic in places but for the price, they're good enough. As for driving it, it is very easy to handle, does around 32mpg and is pretty nippy. It does seem to lack power when driving up a hill, but with a smallish engine, what do you expect. Definitely more of a city than a country loving car,as the suspension is a little stiff ... more

    I have owned my Hyundai Getz 1.3 GSI for a year now. I tried several of it's rivals before buying, but overall found the Getz to be the best value. It's a very spacious small car, it feels like you're driving something a lot bigger. There's plenty of room for a weekly shop and you can easily get three people in the back without them feeling cramped. The engine is very nippy around town, although it can struggle a little sometimes up very steep hills. Fuel comsumption is generally very good, although it does suffer a little on the motorway.     In our house there are 2 Hyundai Getz and we yet have to find something to complain about. The reliability is excellent, they look excellent, they are comfortable inside and they are very good value for money. They come with 5 years free servicing. The parts are reasonably priced. The dashboard and the interior of the car is well designed and they are very comfortable to drive. You can fit 3 in the back without too much discomfort - the legroom at the front for a car of this size is amazing.     Having decided to purchase a new car the problem I had was to know which one to buy as there is so many to choose from. Having spent most the weekend looking and driving all the various models I decided on the Getz 1.3 CDX. Basically with so many standard features with this car ie Alloy wheels, Air conditioning, Air bags and many more great features it was a rather an easy decision to make once the weekend was over!! What really stood out to myself was the fact that it came with a 5, yes 5 year warranty, 3 years RAC cover and 3 years free servicing all as standard. What more could you want ... more

    Advantages Advantages good mileage and low insurance group.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages not built for families, but is great for me ( a student)

    I have a 2003 '52' Getz thats done under 69,000 miles. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Another review here mentions that the car has problems after 60.000 miles, but i've had none. The only thing i have had to change is the ratchet on the handbrake, but that was due to a friend borrowing the car and not pressing the button when lifting the brake (as you should)!! I intend to have my car for many years to come, and don't envisage having any further issues. And as for it not able to reach 70mph without making loud noises, ive travelled from manchester to glasgow and back, and also ... more
