After months of shuffling my feet I finally took the plunge, and thanks in part to the Government’s car Scrappage Scheme, I’m now the proud owner of a spanking new Hyundai i10. I started seriously looking at alternatives for my Peugeot in July, by which time the oil stains on the drive, a slipping clutch and rusting exhaust were a small indication of what lay ahead at the MOT in October. I’ve had my I10 just over a year and I still love it! It’s surprisingly spacious inside – Hyundai have used some clever tricks like curving the door panels and moving and raising the gear-stick to maximise the space available. I have comfortably had 5 people in the car. I average over 45mpg but I do mainly short journeys, I get closer to 50mpg over long distances. The boot space is bigger than expected and the back seats can be folded down totally, or in a 1/3 or 2/3 split. The car sits comfortably on the road and is surprisingly nippy.
