Advantages: No-one ever got fired for buying IBM Disadvantages: I can't hear you over the fans....
...either a HP or an IBM badge on the front, it is usually worth buying.
My 6889 came with 128mb and a 9gb drive, since then I've upgraded it to 1GB using standard 256mb DIMMs (a tip, throw away the IBM DIMM, it doesnt like other manufacturers and besides, they cost a fortune !), the 9gb has gone and been replaced by a 17GB SCSI and a 140GB IDE RAID and the gfx card is now a Matrox G400, replacing the G200.
I have also fitted a black DVD drive 'borrowed' ... ...replaced the fans with much quieter ones (including the one I didn't see until my finger found it.....). I still haven't tracked down another PIII 500 (I don't think your spec is correct for this machine Ciao !) so it's still only single processor but I live in hope.
My 6889 is currently working as my web server running Mandrake Linux and it just sits there and does what it is supposed to. No failures and no problems. It's probably never been switched ...
