Behind the scenes at The Price is Right

Advantages: Brucie! Good prizes - tacky
Disadvantages: Little different from one programme to the next - but then that's why I like it!

Studio 2 at Yorkshire Television, the audience are in place and facing forward. The cameras are in position. For the first time this evening, the room is silent. 5...4...3...2...1... [pause]. Lights come up and shine brightly, the crowd begins to cheer and clap, a familiar tune starts to play.... A voice from nowhere: "Here we go! It's Britain's biggest game show!..." the cameras centre on the sliding doors - two stagehands behind the set slide ...
...of gameshows - standing in his comical 'muscleman' pose. The crowd goes wild, cheering, clapping and whooping for all they're worth. Brucie feigns disbelief at the crowd's warm welcome, as he does every week, and a new "Price is Right" has begun. The Price is Right has always been a favourite of mine, so when I got the chance to go and be in the audience with some of my work colleagues, I couldn't get down there fast enough! Your evening begins ...

Naff Concept, But A Surprisingly Watchable Show

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

I have to say that its nice to see Brucie still as popular as ever with the general public. He is an enetertainment God and deserves his place as the king of the British gameshow, but sometimes you have to wonder about the shows he has presided over. The Price Is Right is one of his least impressive offerings if you ask me, but is still quite entertaining in a rather numb-brained sort of way. I vaguely remember someone else doing this show before ...
...face behind the mic, little else seems to have altered. The concept is simple. People in the audience are assigned a number when they enter and are all prospective contestants. A computer randomly(so they say), picks a selection of these to "Come On Down" as the catchphrase goes, prompting a variety of reactions but as yet nobody tumbling head over heals to the bottom of the stairs :o(. Yeah I know, cruel, but I just wanna see it once! Maybe they ...

Price to high?

Advantages: Entertaining
Disadvantages: Those people who showcase the prizes

Why is it that on Bruces Price is Right, the prices of stuff always seem so hi?? Maybe its just me, but they seem to be exagdurating on the prices quite a lot. And why does Bruce Forsyth have to have tall, big breasted blond girls showcasing the prizes in each of his prgrams? Is it to make him look good, or to attract audiences! He gets them to dress up in suck skimpy outfits sometimes, i have never seen them in any other clothing apart from figure ...
...actually a very entertaining gameshow. Contestants have to guess the price of several different items, ranging from furniture, to electronics, to cars. If they guess the right ammount (while playing games to help them guess) they win that prize. They then go through to the final, in whch 3 contestants spin a big wheel in the aim to get 100 points off 2 spins. Whoever has the highest number at the end of their 2 spins wins to go on and guess the ammount ...

Yet another innuendo filled game show

Advantages: Good prizes, contestants
Disadvantages: Poor jokes, general cheapness, not in popular style of game shows

ITV has been full of them in the past few years, in my opinion. Innuendo filled game shows. There are so many game shows that are cheaply produced on the channel, and, although this one isn't as bad at all with the prizes (there are often prizes amounting to more than £30,000 available per show), the style and atmosphere of the show, and the jokes made by Bruce are ust generally cheap and don't work. Although these kinds of jokes may have been popular ...
...anymore. I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone as I feel, although it is better than some game shows on ITV (eg. Wheel of Fortune), the standard really isn't high enough to make an entertaining watch. Not one of the best on TV - stick to 'The Weakest Link'. ...

Come on down, the price is right

Advantages: get prices
Disadvantages: embrassing name badges

Bruce's Price Is Right is back on Saturdays from 7p.m till 7.30 p.m. It's hosted by the man himself Bruce Forsyth. It's a consumer goods quiz show where members of the audience are picked at randam.Four people are on at any given time. Today the first four contestants were: Baz, Mel, Richard, and Kerry. They and the rest of the audience were all wearing name badges. The first bid was for a "Gypsy Lady" ornament, which looked a bit tacky to me.Mel's ...
...was £395. She then had to play "Pick A Number" game on the price of some go- carts.Mel said 7 and it was 8.She still got to play showcase showdown later dispite losing!! Dave, then takes Mel's place (lucky him) and is introduced to the others. Next bid is on a Bar Clock and the bids start at £125 and end on £260.Baz is the nearest with £185 as the real price was £200.(Most of the prices are over priced and not really needed, except for the car) ...

Pants

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: boring

...the whole time! I think ITV are using it to fill the gaps in their schedules as I can see no other reason why they would want to show 'Bruce's price is right'. It's one of those shows where the prizes look tacky and no skill are required for you to win. The thing I find most irritating about this show are the collection of brain-dead assistants that wear tacky matching outfits and stand there grinning and pointing at ...
...the models have to pretend to ride the prize motorbike or something- it looks too ridiculous for words! I think this kind of gameshow is out of date and boring. I'm always amazed by the kind of prizes that are up for offer. They appear to be the most useless items ever and the contestents themselves don't always look too impressed. ITV: do yourself a favour and put something decent on! ...

Come on down and meet Brucie

Advantages: Mildly watchable
Disadvantages: Isn't this game show format running dry now?

The Price Is Right is yet another ancient game show that Bruce Forsythe now presents, of course now renamed "Bruce's Price Is Right" so not to upset the poor old dear. The point is this... members of the audience get selected randomly to play in the show, where their first task is to, of course, name the right price for certain itmes. As with every other Bruce Forsythe game show, various plastic-looking bimbo girls wave their hands over the item ...
...male Ken (Barbie's man) lookalikes. Urghh. If they name the right price, they get into the next round which involved spinning a wheel in order to get the highest number of points... nothing too complicated there then. And if they get past THAT then here comes the Showcase Showdown. Waved under the contensant's nose is all the prizes they can win, such as cars, motorbikes, holidays etc. This is what they win, but ONLY if they guess the total cost ...
