    This review is for ITV Player which can be found at the following web address www.itv.com/itvplayer. What is ITV Player? ITV player is an online video on demand service which people use to watch programmes which have been aired on ITV the channel. The programmes are usually available for 30 days after they have been screened for people to watch and not all the shows you do see on ITV are used on the site which is something to take into consideration.     ITV Player follows in the footsteps of the BBC I-Player – an online service offering the opportunity to watch the shows you have missed for up to 28 days after they are first aired. For those without a DVD recorder of a VCR this service offers an excellent opportunity to catch up. This service was a new experience for me and having read several reviews as to the poor quality of the programmes screened I wasn’t expecting an awful lot.     ITV PLAYER This is just going to be a short and quick review about itvplayer.com. I'll keep it short because I'm sure many of you reading this will already know, or at least have some idea, about what the ITV Player is. Some of you have probably even used it before now.     I lead a fairly busy life as most of us do and I've always been a bit of a telly addict. But, I'm not the kind of person who will drop everything when a TV programme is on, but at the same time I can't miss anything! In the days of the video this got quite messy. I had piles of them stacked up. Recordable DVD was a step in the right direction, none of that rewinding lark. When Sky plus showed up I thought all my Christmas's had come at once, the ideal service for me. The only drawback is the expense and I have been thinking of shopping around for alternatives.     I had been keen to try out the ITV player for a while, so a few weeks ago, in need of a Coronation Street fix, I decided to give it a go. The application was easy to find by going to: www.itv.co.uk.ITVPlayer . I found that it was easy to browse through the television programmes on offer, all the prime time shows were listed and everything was available for a 28 day period. So I selected a particular episode of Coronation Street, sat back and relaxed.     Advantages Advantages See ITV programmes after they are broadcast. Very decent web interface. Easy to see listings.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Completely unusable when servers are busy. Advertisments (forgivable given the product)

    When it is good, ITV player is great - it allows you to watch quite a number of ITV programmes after they have been on the TV, with the only downside that you have to watch some adverts - but you'd have had to see them anyway had you seen the programme live. So a win win situation then? Happily, most of the time, yes. Unfortunately, when the servers buckle under the pressure of customer usage, customers experience a proportion of the programme they have asked to see, with adverts, but then when the link is lost and re-found, more adverts are always shown and frequently the programme restarts ... more

    Advantages Advantages can catch up on your fave programmes for 28 days

    Disadvantages Disadvantages poor quality, too many adverts, connection and buffering problems, having to refresh all the time

    i never have the time to sit infront of the telly, so dont really have the choice but to use itv player- unless i want to miss my fave programmes! but it really is a pain. it constantly says i have lost internet connection (when my net is fine), stops and starts A LOT, and a lot of the time you have to refresh the page, which puts what you were watching back to the start and you have to re-watch the adverts. thats another poor point, having to watch adverts! grrr. the picture quality isnt the greatest. ive just bought a new computer as well with crystal clear picture quality, but itv player ... more
