...book??
That is what I thought when I saw Paul McKenna's book 'I can make you thin' on the shelf of my local book shop.
I was just browsing around, mum was in the library and I was filling time. This looks interesting I thought and picked it up.
On the back I read 'Are you ready for something really different?' or words to that effect. I can't quote perfectly because my sister in law has borrowed this book at the moment.
I opened the book and ... ...sucker for trying something different I bought the book, I paid the full price for this book which edges up towards the £10 mark, but the next week I saw it in Asda for £5.99 and was a bit miffed.
So, home once again, and sat with a cup of tea I opened the book that was going to change my life. Well, I hoped so anyway.
I read the book, from cover to cover, thought about what it told me, decided that it made a bit of sense. There are testimonials ...

I have always lost weight. However as soon as I start eating 'normally' again the weight piled on and more. Paul says congratulations on your weight loss using a diet. Come back in 6 months and tell me about your diet then. Back in January it suddenly hit me like a boulder running down the hill that on Wednesday 23rd of February it was my eldest's daughters 14th birthday. I weighed more then than I did full term with ...

I was intrigued and I wondered how on earth it is possible to _not_ diet and lose weight. How can the way you think, change how your metabolism works and make you lose weight?
So it was all a big mystery, so like you reading this review, I searched out for one myself.
I found one review which was brutally honest, but in the ...

Sometimes I wish I was a millionaire (I know, don't we all!) but recently, my desire has been of a more altruistic nature. I would love to be a millionaire in order to be able to give a copy of this book to every overweight person I have ever met. I don't doubt that some of them would be offended and would want to hurl sharp objects at my head. However, this book is so fantastic, it would be worth the risk!

She told me her scales were faulty but first thing the next morning, announced my weight to our entire class and told me she'd lied, they weren't faulty at all! The only good thing about my recollection of this event is that I don't remember how I felt at the time. No doubt I was embarrassed but thankfully ...

I bought this book the week GMTV had Paul McKenna on for the whole week to discuss the techniques he uses in this book. I was convinced by Friday that I needed to buy it and got my copy in Asda for just £5.00!
On the first day McKenna took a group of overweight folk and sat them round a table with full cooked breakfasts in front of them - bacon, egg, sausage, tomato, toast, mushroom, potatoe scones - the full monty! I have never been hypnotised and am sceptical about whether it works. Whilst watching the Paul McKenna show years ago I often wondered whether the audience were actually hypnotised or whether they were ‘plants’. In addition, of those people I know that have been hypnotised (and there are only two of them) it did not work, so I did not hold out too much hope for this book and CD combo. That said I had heard a lot about and ... ...face and looking smug. Personally, I think the cover is conceited and quite off putting so it is a good job that I actually wanted to buy the book (it was not an impulse buy) otherwise I would have walked away and a sale would not have been made.

I Can Make You Thin (Book and CD) Paul McKenna
Paperback Published January 2005
Publisher: Bantam Press
ISBN: 0593050541
I first saw this book in the library, I've tried every diet under every sun and pointed at it while with boyfriend
"I can make you thin? Yeah right!" and had a good chuckle about it.
Anyhow I had thought about it over a few days and thought, do you know what? I've tried everything else so why not? I'm up for a laugh!

It is incredibly easy reading, which is handy if you are trying to merge weight loss into a busy lifestyle.
The craving busters are amazing, simple exercises that can done with just a small amount of thought application to stop you craving the food (or drink) of your choice. This can obviously be done for as many foods as you like. It does wear off though so you need to go back and go over the exercises ...

Advantages: You feel fantasic.. Disadvantages: There is a little work involved, but doesnt everything
The first thing I have to say this book is FAB!
I will give you a little bit of background to my history of dieting.
In 2000 I decided to lose weight, so I took action and went on the Rosemary C Metabolism diet and over 3 years lost 4 stone. It was a really good diet but as I am rather fussy eater I found I lived on a limited food menus. So in 2003 I went onto a Calorie counting diet and lost a further stone but by 2004 I was finding calorie counting ... ...rework my calories, which meant I ate a really small dinner to make sure I stayed within my limit. But I got through it simply because I wanted to get to my goal weight of 10st 6lb. I hit my target weight December 2004 but a few months later it went wrong. From June 2005 to June 2006 I gained 2 stone and all my lovely size 10 outfits were too tight. I had creepted to a size 14 and I hated myself for undoing all my hard work. For a year I retried ...

...irritating?) Generally, I don't do 'self help'. I've always been wary of anyone who can completely embrace the philosophy of a one book so completely and without question. I am dubious about anyone who writes a book claiming to have 'all the answers.' However, after reading this book, I feel like a complete idiot for not realising sooner that if I modify my behaviour, as opposed to my diet, I will be able to have my cake and eat it.
Its a really ... ...I consider myself reasonably intelligent (I said reasonably, don't test me, I'll fold under pressure) fairly rational and self aware, so, after reading the book, I found myself asking "why have I been feeding my boredom, frustration, anger and more boredom with tuck?" Advantages: Easy to read, easy to use, no fads, and of course, he should make you thin! Disadvantages: As with any weight loss method, it requires motivation!!!
...we go way way back. I honestly cannot recall a time when I didn't have a problem wit my weight, and I am always looking for the next "cure". I've tried absolutely everything - and I mean everything - and of course there are times when I have been successful and lost even as much as 4 stone - but I have never really managed to modify my underlying eating habits and hence the problem continues.
So, in the continued search for a way to lose weight ... ...possible, I stumbled across the latest offering from Mr McKenna.
It was in Asda, a couple of months ago now - the book was on offer at £6.99 and after a few moments deliberating it found its way into my trolley. I have to be honest and say that it sat on the kitchen table for a fair few days before I picked it up to read it, but when I did pick it up, I read it easily from cover to cover in a fairly short space of time.
It's an easy read - no complicated ...

...- I'm still not sure I really believe in the whole going under thing.......seeing people up on stage acting like chickens and the like.....
Of course, it all goes a lot deeper than that - it's when I saw an interview with him talking about NLP (neurolingustic programming) that I really got interested. Seeing his work with nervous flyers and smokers made me think maybe he could help me with my weight - especially issues with food.
My problem here ... ...do something about it. But I didn't know how to start - I've tried diets - WW, South Beach - the usual suspects. But I haven't managed to stick. I wanted something to address the feelings behind the eating - surely not everyone demolishes a 400gr bar of dairy milk after a cruddy day at work (hmmm if I'm wrong on this, feel free to send me a postcard!!).....
So I thought back to Paul McKenna. After another session surfing round the web, I thought ...

But then I heard about Paul McKennas "I Can Make You Thin". To be honest I was a bit sceptical..for all I knew it was just another diet. I read the book anyway and wow! Good ... ...of like self hypnotism, although I never needed to do this. There are quite a few self hypnotism parts throughout the book and they just enforce what has been told to you and also makes you feel good about yourself.

...it says on the tin.
I am getting married in October 09, and bought this in August 08. (So, have been doing this for 3 months now,) I have literally lost a dress size in that short space of time.
I must explain, I have 3-4 stone left to lose, and have lost about 2 stone to date. At the point I bought Paul McKenna from WH Smith (£6.99) I was very unhappy with my size, I had been warned by my doctor about my BMI being too high and I had been warned ... ...... as a serial dieter I had been on this constant cycle of diet...failing diet... putting on loads more weight after failing diet... yadda yadda yadda.
So... final resort was what I classed as 'brainwashing'! Enter Paul McKenna and his promise to make me THIN.
And, do you know what. Hey presto. It works.
