...seen the newest advert for Iams dry cat food where the comparison for nutrition is made between dry and wet food, claiming that 1 bowl of Iams dry food provides the same level of nutrition as 4 pouches of wet food. I always have a little chuckle to myself when I see this advert and I decided to try it for my own cat because I like to know that he is getting the best nutritional meal available to him.

Iams has actually ... ...inititally in 1946 by Paul Iams who went on in 1950 to develop an animal based protein dry dog food called Iams 999 - the first ever of it's kind. Paul Iams decided in 1975 that he could take the company no further and was in favour of shutting it down but instead sold it to Clay Mathile who had been with Iams since 1970. Clay went on to become the president and sole owner of the company in 1982 and in 1999 sold the then $900 million company to Proctor ...

Advantages: Firm stools. Disadvantages: Made by Procter and Gamble.
...Wood Green Animal Shelter recommends Iams for its animals. I know that Proctor and Gamble makes them, so am a little reluctant to buy this product. Max (my five toothed Tabby) is always hungry. Two weeks ago I ran out of James Well Beloved for Max, so at 6am in the morning I sent Shane down to Tesco’s to get some dried food for Max. Shane turned up with Iams so here is my opinion of the product.

Iams contains no added colorants, flavourings or preservatives, so may be ideal to use for a cat with a sensitive stomach. Do check with your vet first for dietary advice.

We have another cat in our house, called smitten but he is quite young and is in bed. Mum has just popped downstairs to put the kettle on so together we are sitting hear ready to tell you about this food she gets for us.

...This is when I discovered Iams Dry Cat Food.
Packaging
~~~~~~~~~
The bright orange bags make this product stand out on the shelves. It has the brand name Iams written in white across the top of the bag and then the particular flavour on the bottom of the bag with a picture of a cat in the middle. It details all of the nutrients and vitamins contained within the product and came in various sizes from 300g to 3k.
Price
~~~~~
It is more expensive ... ...a 3k bag where as Iams is £4.99 for a 1k bag. There are some much cheaper brands of dry food like Whiskers and Felix which is about £1.00 - £2.00 for a box. I decided to try Iams though because it was on special offer at half the normal price. The only thing is that it lasts a long time as you only need a little bit for one meal. The manufacturers state that it only costs 15p per meal per cat but I am not convinced, someone must have very thin cats!!

...heard some good things about Iams so I bought a small bag and mixed it with the Science biscuits and gradually increased the Iams. I was rewarded with empty food bowls once again so this new food was met with my cat's seal of approval. After the disgace of being fed Tesco Value tinned food (he said it was an emergency but methinks it was revenge for the thoughtful present I left in his shoe), and the Tesco Duck in jelly which seemed to fly through my back end before I'd finished eating, here at last was something to look forward to.

...We decided to try Iams as we’d seen the adverts. We thought we would try Sooty with it for the recommended three weeks to see if it would make a difference. We honestly thought we were going to have to get rid of her, as we couldn’t physically and mentally put up with piles of poo everywhere, not with two children to think about too. I know Iams is supposed to be a complete food for cats,
it must be very boring to have nothing to look forward to but biscuits.
If your cat has been used to, and enjoys tinned meat,
you may choose to feed Iams as a crunchy addition.
I divide the days allowance between morning and evening.
As my two cats like to eat little and often it's quite safe to leave in the bowl,it will be eaten in the course of the day.
