...This was back in 1943.
IKEA originally sold items such as stationery, wallets, picture frames, watches, jewellery and ladies hosiery. It appeared that if Ingvar found a niche in the market that he could fill, he did so and with a product at a reduced cost. It wasn't until 1951 that the store decided to branch out into reduced priced furniture and so flat pack city began. It grew in popularity and stores were appearing all over Europe until in 1987 ... ...************* GETTING PARKED ***********************
Ikea stores are huge and most of the ones I have visited always seem to be situated in the worst possible traffic congested areas in England. The one in Brent Park and the store is just off the North Circular in London is a fine example of this. You can't miss the place, there are yellow, red and blue flags flowing gracefully around the car park, and the store with its bright yellow exterior has ...

Ikea does have a certain appeal, it does have something that sets it apart from the British high street or your MFI superstores. There's something high-fashion but also classic about it. Ikea are a Swedish company who began trading in the 1940's,and the name was chosen to reflect the owners initials and the place where he grew up. I had always thought they were expensive and that the furniture was ugly and poor quality. Ikea has eleven stores in the UK, the opening times and direction can be found on the website www.ikea.co.uk. Each store has an automated info-line where you can order catalogues, enquire about opening times, get directions, get details on events or enquire about payment methods.

So what does IKEA offer in terms of shopping and so on? I feel I am quite qualified to write this opinion having been there twice in the past couple of weeks and having delivered their rather heavy catalogues. In fact the only thing I have not done is actually work for them in their store and eaten/drunk there (more on that later).

Going to IKEA is always an experience rather than just a shopping trip. The first time I ventured within those hallowed walls I was the proverbial child in a sweet shop. I'd only gone for a look, but came out having spent over £200 on odds and ends, and with a huge mental list of furniture I simply must buy. And what a lot I got for that £200. My car was absolutely bursting. Having said that, however, I have to concede that the IKEA experience isn't ... ...Park in Warrington, my nearest IKEA store...

Leave the M62 at Junction 9, take the Warrington turning at the roundabout and then turn right at the next roundabout. Follow signs to the Gemini Retail Park and 2 minutes later you're there.
PARKING

I arrived at Ikea at ten minutes to ten. The store opens at ten ‘o’ clock so if you arrive early they send you into the cafe for a free cup of tea or coffee. I can not resist a free drink! Everyone knows about Ikea don't they, its the Swedish shop where you can buy literally anything you need for your home. Furniture, cushions, rugs, light fittings, office furnishings, bathroom accessories, kitchen accessories, and some foods. My only downside was having to walk around the whole showroom before you can head down to the warehouse, ...

Ikea have their stores at out of town shopping centres. The stores are easy to spot as they are huge blue "warehouses" with IKEA on in big letters. Ikea do a really nice range of laminate flooring. They also have some really cheap rugs to put on it. In the laminate flooring section there are a whole load of different types on display. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ikea was founded in Sweden (hence: blue and yellow logo = colour of Swedish Flag). Their concept is to offer a wide range of functional products using modern and fresh designs and at low prices. The stores are laid out so that the customer can browse through the range, choose what they want, collect it themselves from the warehouse, transport it home and assemble it themselves. (They do offer a delivery ...

...box, is IKEA. IKEA is Swedish and stock everything for the home from light bulbs to rugs to beds. The place is huge. Other bad points:
Light fittings, beds and mattresses are in Swedish sizes, so your current bed wont fit with an IKEA mattress and vice ...

Yeah, it's cheap. But I don't go there because it's cheap. I go there because it has a much better range of the sort of stuff I want to buy than any other shop. Or at least, it does in theory. IKEA came to Edinburgh and a nation breathed a sigh of relief.
