You can get implanon inserted at family planning clinics and some doctor surgeries depending on whether the doctor is trained in inserting the Implant. ===What is Implanon?===
Implanon is a white stick, which is almost the same size as a match. It contains the hormone Etonogestrel that is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring female sex hormone, progesterone. The hormone prevents pregnancy by stopping the ovaries from releasing ... ...from entering the womb.
Implanon slowly releases Etonogestrel into the bloodstream and contains enough to release it steadily over three years. The implant itself doesn't dissolve in your body and should be removed after three years or before if you choose.

...Earth this is. Implanon is a contraceptive in the form of a small implant which is inserted under the skin of your upper arm, on the side closest to your body. It contains the hormone progestogen (which is a synthetic form of the natural female hormone progesterone) which is released into your body at a steady rate for three years. This means that for the next three years, you don't have to sod about with pills, condoms, diaphragms or injections. ... ...first seven days after having Implanon put in. If you have just had a baby, the implant can be put in 21-28 days after the birth, and will work immediately.
The actual insertion took about ten minutes in total. First, I was told to lie on my back on the table, and the doctor injected local anaesthetic into my arm, and waited a minute to let it work. Then he took out a rather scary-looking contraption which was a hollow needle with the implant inside. ...

First of all, the area was numbed (you seriously don't want this inserted without numbing believe me, and if you don't like needles, look away now and until the doctor tells you you are done!). Needles don't bother me, so when she started with the numbing, I had no problem. She injected me about 6 times in a wheel ...

Implanon is a progestogen-only contraceptive implant which is inserted in the inner upper arm. It is a small flexible rod which slides just under skin. I have just recently had this done. The reason that I chose this was by recommendation from a nurse at my doctors. I have just had my little baby girl she was planned. Before her I was using the combined pill, which worked really well.
But now that I had her I thought it was time for some longer lasting more reliable form of contraception. I had never heard of the implant until I see the nurse. I'm quite limited in the types of contraceptive I can use. As with other migraine sufferers, synthetic oestrogen is out of the question, it is likely to cause a stroke. After reading the ops about Implamon, I have decided to write one myself.
For the past 4 - 5 years I have been taking Mercilon, which is a version of the pill. This was working well when I remembered to take it!!
