Index (part of the Littlewoods group ) is a catalogue that is in direct competition with the likes of Argos and to a lesser extent the home shopping groups such as Gus and Empire Stores .
They bring out usually two free catalogues a year like Argos - the spring / summer , and autumn / winter versions.
I always compare the price of the goods in Index with Argos and typically Index comes out a little more expensive . On average where Index and Argos ... ...other way around .
Index sometimes has a small area designated as part of the Littlewoods department store as in Barnsley .But on occasion as in Scarborough the shop stands alone just as Index.
In both cases there are often huge bargains to be had in store . I bought a fastext remote control for £4,99 simply because it was the end of the range , the last one they had and it was displayed in a cabinet .
Look out for great bargains where prices ...

...i needed, i turned to Index Extra online and promptly proceeded to order two skateboards (one for each son) and a set of skates for my daughter. By return, i received a confirmation of my order by e-mail with an order reference number, so that was that and i awaited my 48 hour delivery. By Tuesday afternoon, Nothing. Wednesday morning, Nothing. Wednesday afternoon, i decided to call as my son's birthday was the next day. The first thing that i found ... ...for 'index extra online.' The index online help desk is open 8.00am - 8.00pm, but the index extra help desk is only open 9.00am - 5.30pm ????? Once i got through to the correct desk i was asked for my confirmation number, which i gave them, at which point they told me it was incorrect. I pulled up my e-mail again to double check and confirmed to them that it was most definately the one 'they' had sent me. They then proceeded to ask my name, address ...

Advantages: cheap, friendly and convenient Disadvantages: some of the products haven't lasted too long and have been easily returned
Index's Flexible Account Card is a good way of spreading the cost of a bulk buy from the store (thus saving paying the postage and packing charge of £2.95), and this week they have a special offer of saving you 10% on your order, using your card, from littlewoods/index/index extra. the flexible account offers a 3 months interest free option for payment, but as the name suggests, you have an option of paying however much or little you want per month ... ...don't pay the minimum interest free amount you will have a small charge to pay of course. You receive a statement every month to your door.
I like this way of paying, you don't have to worry about carrying a large amount of cash into the shop. If you save up a load of purchases to do at once, and get them delivered , it is very convenient and cheap. I have found their returns policy very easy and fair, and some of their prices that i have compared ...

...order her something from the index extra website using my credit card (always the way eh!) so I did. I had no problems ordering the coat, and it said to wait for the confirmation e-mail, which I never did get. It states that you should wait for 48 hours and the coat will be with you, but it wasn’t! So, I e-mailed Index Extra with my invoice number etc that I had got from the normal response e-mail and they got back to me the next day stating that ... ...the payment process. If you are looking to buy something off the internet for the first time, I wouldn’t recommend Index Extra to highly basically because of the lost 10% off and the lost order, but they do offer quality products. ...that I have used the Index shop several times and never experienced a problem. Armed with their lastest catalogue and a cup of tea I sat down in my new house to peruse what was on offer. Flicking through the index catalogue I soon found what I wanted to buy, a Delonghi dragon heater. Grabbing my credit card ... ...days holidays my experience with Index turned out to be the most expensive item I never bought. Needless to say I have no intention of repeating the experience. On a side note, I finally did get a dragon heater from Great Mills and would heartily recommend that to anyone. :) ...

Advantages: High street prices, can spread cost interest free over 3 months, great sale brochires Disadvantages: Delivery charge, interest is charged is items arent paid within 3 months
...catalogue for years, I discovered Index Extra. It doesnt offer a commission deal, but to compensate this, items are generally 10 quid cheaper than other commission based catalogues. You can, however, spread the cost, interest free, over a period of 3 months, which has come in handy for myself.
You receive a statement each month, showing all items credited to your account and how much you need to pay for your account to remain 'interest-free'.
You ... ...discounts!
The only hunch is that you have to pay a charge of 2.95 for delivery, but this is worth it, especially if you are placing a big order (its the same charge for delivery regardless of how large the order). This catalogue would suit those who want to spread the cost of an itemover a short period and pay high street prices! ...

Advantages: Good range of stock, don't have to wait an age Disadvantages: none
We have a couple of Index stored near us; one in Wakefield and one in Leeds and we have always found them to be very useful and convenient to shop at. We also get their catalogue, but rather than send off, we therefore tend to actually visit the store if the items are smallish and pick them up ourselves. We bought all last years Christmas presents from Index, as a matter of conenience, checking off everything we wanted before setting off. Fortunately ... ...in the Argos store.
I would recomend Index definitely, based on our experience. They have a eally good range of goods for the home, their stores seem to be dotted about all over the place and of course you can always shop from them mail order if you wish. ...

I love index on the high street, the sales assistants are not quite as stupid as argos and thier products are great value and nearly always in stock.
So when i had a leaflet through my door advertising thier online shop i thought i would give it a go as i love to shop online. I was very impressed. The site itself is well layed out and easy to use, it has most of the products you would find in the store and it also had a free p&p day, unusually well-timed ... ...days later and was left in the exact place i had told them to leave it.I was so impressed by thier service that i have ordered from them about 6 times again and each time i never have a problem.
So well done index for an excellent online store!!! ...

...up to date catalogue from Index (as well as Argos) as you never know when you'll need it. From endless hours of looking from cover to cover to see what you need or what you want but never getting anywhere.
So I picked up the Index book over the weekend to look for a new hoover. Well I was stuck for choice, not only did they have a better selection than their competitor (Argos) but the prices were very reasonable. After deliberating for some time ... ...choice and went down to the store the following day.
On checking the in-store catalogue I found that I'd missed out on a new catalogue and had the agonising search for another hoover as the one that I had chosen they no longer stocked! I eventually made my mind up, a Swan Cylinder Vacuum cleaner. I used the instore checker to make sure that they had one in stock, which they did and proceeded to pay for my product. This was all done smoothly but ...

Advantages: There is a very wide range of items, so all shopping can be done at once Disadvantages: Shops can get busy, so cues can be long.
Index is a great catalogue store from the Liverpool firm, Littlewoods. When most people here the word 'Littlewoods', they imediately thing 'tack'. Well it's not, if you've shopped at argos before, your bound to like Index. The Index catalogue ranges from Jewelery to Bikes and from Mobile phones to christmas trees. You name it and Index will most likely have it.
Index also run a great Home shopping service which most people now as Index Extra but ... ...£100.
I've shopped at Index a lot of times and have never been disapointed. Everything I have wanted, I have found. Also, to avoid disapointment, everystore has an 'Index Checka', which will check if the item you want is in stock. This saves cueing up and then arriving at the till only to find out that they haven't got it.
Wherever you live, you are likely to find an Index, there are stores nation wide in nearly every town. ...
