Advantages: Fast speeds, four cores, great overclocking potential, easy to install Disadvantages: Absolutely none!
General Overview:
The Q6600 Is a fantastic new chip by Intel. It provides the end user with an extremely powerful, cheap and multi-purpose chip. At one point this chip would cost you £500 alone. Now they have cut the price down to roughly £170 making it the perfect choice for enthusiasts and gamers alike. The Q6600 has four cores each running at 2.4Ghz with 8mb L2 cache which means it can do four times the work in the same amount of time compared ...

...with the recent announcement from intel that 6 core cpus are just around the corner the price of quad core chips will drop even more making them an even more attractive and great value purchase.
I would also not purchasing the faster quad core chips unless you have money to spare, as this chip while running at 2.4ghz straight from the box can easily be overclocked with very little effort, and for minimal expenditure for a aftermarket cooling solution ...

Advantages: Price, very cool running (G0 stepping), high overclockability Disadvantages: None as I'm aware
**** DESIGN ****
Right now this is the best value for money CPU one can buy. Don't be fooled by thinking its slow if it's only 2.40GHz for each core. The Core 2 architecture is all singing all dancing compared to Intel's previous Netburst so even at 2.40GHz, it would take a Netburst CPU (if such quare core existed) running at ~4.4GHz to rival it in performance. This due to the latter, amongst other vital signs, being a much deeper pipeline design. ...

Advantages: 4 cores. New G0 stepping Q6600 runs cooler and is easy to overclock Disadvantages: Software doesn't take advantage of all 4 cores.
I bought this a while ago for £160 even at that price it is a bargain and now you can get it £140 a no brainer in my opinion. An extremely powerful processor 2.4Ghz per core adding up to a total of 9.6Ghz.
The best thing about this processor for me though is its potential for overclocking, if you get the new G0 stepping which is a must this processor can easily be overclocked to 3.3Ghz just by using a good cooler such as a Scythe Infinity and would ...

Advantages: Quick, runs cool, easy to overclock Disadvantages: None
I bought the G0 stepping version of this processor from ebuyer.com for just over £150 back in august 2007. It came boxed with a cpu fan which already had some heatsink paste already applied, an instruction manual and a guarentee certificate.
It was simple to install, and I'm currently using it on a EVGA 680i motherboard.
The processor is outstanding and can run anything you put to it very very quickly. A lot of applications don't yet use more ...

Advantages: Blistering speeds Disadvantages: Ideally needs Vista 64 bit but few software compatibility probems
Intel have really got it right with this CPU. It was easy to install and runs like a dream. To take real advantage of the power of this CPU it really needs the Vista 64bit version and there are few software compatibility problems now so it is worth taking the plunge. I've never seen software install so quickly on a PC as with this processor and running Windows updates, background tasks, processor hungry games etc. just doesn't have an impact on the ...

...all 4 connectors.

Advantages: stable, runs everything i can throw i it. Disadvantages: not many programs which can use it to its full ability yet
I have just bought this product myself and I can say it runs 64-bit vista well and I have also experimented in over clocking although I a novice at things like this and couldn't get a stable configuration, I have read it is fairly easy to do, so looking on google for information about this should be easy. In my opinion, it quite capable of running any program without ever needing to over clock the processor until more demanding programs are released. ...

The new Q6600 from Intel is fantastic, its real fast, it does things in less time. I own this processor and I only have good things to say about it its really good, and a fantastic price you can get from £170 only thats the best processor for this price. Ah one advice as it is four cores it is highly recomended that you use water cooled systems, but you don't need to worry too much, if you have a high end air cooler and your case has a good ventilation ...

This is perfect if you do hardcore gaming, video editing etc or both! The four cores allow you to simultaneously do alot of tasks on the pc and it will not slow down your pc. As more and more software for pc's need a lot of processing power, this processor is the most ...

Advantages: 4 Cores (!!!) Compatible with older boards great value for money Disadvantages: Cant think of any!
When you buy a new cpu, when you 1st try it you probably will think whoa! thats fast. When you install the Q6600 you will most probably thinking whoaaaa! You will run out of benchmarks to put it through, as it has probably just exelled in all that it has taken. Its not just the powere that absolutely astonishes me, its also value for money. The 1st dual core chips were afew hundred pounds when they were 1st released, and considering that this is one ...

...I got onto inserting my Intel Core 2 Quad core Q6600 2.4Ghz processor into my computer. I wasn't to impressed to begin with during the boot but I guess that's to be expected as the CPU is used very little then. But when windows had booted up the speed of running programs was amazing. The best improvement I have noticed is in the running of games it's amazing you can just keep on turning up the settings and it just runs on full. Providing you have ...
