Advantages: Quick, core-tastic, hyperthread, makes multi-tasking a breeze Disadvantages: Expensive
...it cannot be denied that Intel are now the market leader once again. The boxed version comes with a simple picture diagram on how to install the CPU onto the motherboard and fit the standard heat sink also included. However, the thermal paste did appear to be lacking from my box, so you might want to purchase some seperately. Frankly I'd opt for a better heatsink anyway. According to reviews the standard one is good, but lets face it, if you are ... ...and will be looking to push your machine to its limits. I've heard some overclocked versions of the 920 running at 4ghz (standard is 2.6ghz), i haven't tried it yet myself, but will get there very soon. The very fact that you can just about double the speed is insane enough. Paired well with a good motherboard and ram, its easy to see why these CPU's are priced they way they are. Fast, intelligent and efficient, its worth every penny. Plus that names ...

Advantages: Fast, quad core, best for gaming, runs cool, big cache size Disadvantages: price
The Intel core i7 is the new processor range from Intel. The core i7 is the fastest processor yet to be unleashed into the marked. It comes in three different models at the moment however there are plans to release another 3 more. At the moment of when this review was written there are only three types; 920 (2.66 GHz), 240 (2.93 GHz) and the 940 Extreme Processor (3.2 GHz). each of the processors have 8MB of cache which means you will be able to ... ...to process the information. the i7 is also a quad core CPU which means it will multi-task extremely well. When I used this Processor on my system, it ran extremely fast and only using about 8% of CPU usage when opening programs, surfing the web, watching a DVD. It rarely goes over 50% when playing games such as Counter Strike: Source and Left 4 Dead. If you want the maximum performance and you also want to stay future proof, go with this and I promise ...

Advantages: Cheapest of the i7 series, Excellent overclockability, Fantastic performance Disadvantages: It is not ideal for people after a less expensive computer. Requires a X58 motherboard.
This product is my personal choice out of all of Intel's i7 range. Why you ask? Because it is cheap and features all of the functionality of its older brothers. These chips share exactly the same level 2 and level 3 cache, and a majority of their multipliers are all present, so off the mark this processor isn't that far behind its big brothers at all! The only huge gap here is the price. I would say if you are into overclocking then this is the chip ... ...and even 4GHz is possible with the correct cooling and voltages. At 4GHz this processor can really rack up some extreme performance. So to sum it up I would say this is you're best bang for the buck at the moment if you are after a high end performance computer. ...

Advantages: Fast, Very overclockable. Disadvantages: Not the cheapest upgrade, Requires DD3 memory, X58 i1333 motherboard
...comes with a stock intel cooler that it comes with is great at cooling the CPU, you may want to invest in a bigger fan if pushing the clock speed which some have got up to an incredible 4.0Ghz from 2.6Ghz, I have tried to get to this figure but my system became unstable, although i did not try tweaking many settings. Running this CPU with 12Gb of DDR3 on windows 7 Build 7100, everything installed and booted up first time. You will need to invest ...
