The Intel Pentium III processor offers great performance for today and tomorrow's applications, as well as quality, reliability, and compatibility from the world's leading...
more...microprocessor company. The Pentium III processor enables higher polygon counts and advanced lighting effects, which can provide software and Web sites with more lifelike surfaces, more objects rendered in a given scene, and amazing shadow effects and reflections rendered in real time. The performance of the Pentium III processor enables software developers to incorporate a greater degree of realism and interactivity. Imagine flight simulators with wings that actually flex, driving simulations with suspension that actually works, or gaming characters with fingers that can touch and grasp. The Pentium III processor can provide better responsiveness with your graphics software by offering increased frame rates, color depths, and image processing algorithms. This means you can work with large, complex images and digital photographs without the wait. Because video files tend to be large, all the benefits of the Pentium III processor realized for still imaging are even more important for editing and viewing video. In addition, the performance capabilities of the processor allow for real-time MPEG-2 video encoding and editing and great performance for streaming video - resulting in higher-quality video on the Internet.

Too Expensive and poor performance
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by CyrixDes

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: expensive, lower performance

How anyone can buy an Intel Pentium III I really do not know. They have been humiliated in every benchmark by the AMD Athlon and eventhough im not an AMD user I can still see that the PIII gets thrashed in every area. I dont use AMD because I feel that I get better value with my Cyrix chips but Intel are just ridiculous. They charge so much more for there Pentium 3 chips than the equivalent Athlon chips and they get outperformed so much. The only ... Read review

not alf bad
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by craigy

Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: not newest

The Intel PIII is one of the two most powerfull processors on the market along with the AMD Athlon. The real problem I have with the Intel offereing is there price. I dont believe that the PIII is better than the Athlon, I believe its close but no where near as the price difference suggests. The Pentium III was the first Intel chip to have SSE(Streaming SIMD* Extensions) * Single Edge Contact Cartridge Basically this was MMX 2, it does ... Read review

No problems so far...
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by ajpaynter

Advantages: Reliablitly
Disadvantages: Price (depending on retailer)

I have owned two pentium III powered PCs over the last two years. The first was a 450mhz and the other, a 650mhz. I can't say I've had any problem with either. They seem to be fast, reliable and generally pretty good value for money (if you know where to buy from). I've used Athlon powered machines and noticed very little difference, especially on 3D graphics programs (the graphics card and RAM are far more important the the processor speed) I ... Read review

Are they that good?
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by jamies_torch

Advantages: Most software is optimised for a P3 chip
Disadvantages: From a design point of view they are slower than an AMD Athlon

...games, are written with an intel chip in mind. The coding is optimised for a floating point instruction making a fixed point instruction less reliable, hence some software titles may not appear as good on an AMD machine as a P3 machine. Personally I am an intel junkie. All the software I use (apart from some 3D modelling software) has been written with an Intel processor. The P3s in that respect suit my purposes, and is what I use. But the AMD ... Read review

INTEL P3-600
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by robbailey

Advantages: Very Fast, reliable, and from intel
Disadvantages: cant find any

Without any question the Intel P3 is the best chip for games, office programs and graphics programs. I have just upgraded to the Intel P3-600 chip and think its great runs everything I want it to without any problem. I have bought the above chip, voodoo 3, and an Asus PC3-D motherboard and 256mb memory and its slowly becoming a dream machine. Would recommend this combination to anyone who wants to run high end games or anything which demand’s ... Read review

Advantages: reliable, proven performance and quality, best supported
Disadvantages: costs more but you pay for quality

...that I am a big Intel fan. I have owned a couple of Pentium III processor machines over the last few years since it was first introduced. The first was a 500 MHz and the other (also my present machine), an 800 MHz. I can't say I've had any problem with either both in terms of performance and of reliability, it has served my needs perfectly. They are fast, reliable and although pricier than AMD's equivalent, generally pretty good value for. I've ... Read review

...across. The point is, if intel pentium III processors were expensive I'd still recommend them for there outstanding quality and assurance that they wont break. The fact that they are cheaper than quite alot of other things what aren't as good anyway, make this product the definite one to get. Listen to my Advice and you won't regret it. BUY ONE!!! ... Pentium III the truth
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by whitman_mark

Advantages: great speed, reliable
Disadvantages: cost

The Intel Pentium Processors, says they have power...have they? 1.AMD and Pentiums are the same, aren’t they? I mean, they all have the same numbers, right? Not always, even though the numbers are the same, it depends on how efficiently the processor works. Personally, I believe Pentiums work best. 2.You are just saying that so that people don’t buy AMDs, right? Not at all. For instance, the is an Intel Celeron range and a ... Read review

Processor Speeds For Ultimate Gaming
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by robscott86

Advantages: n/a
Disadvantages: Involves spending high amounts of money

Moving into a new year, looking back, I can see that CPU and processor technology has come along way in the past years. But the gaming industry has also. Look at recent games, like Dues Ex for example. We are getting to the stage now, where, if you want to be able to play the most up-to-date games, then you have to keep your PC's up-to-date. I recently had to upgrade to a 600mhz pc just so I could play a few games I had newly purchased, and with ... Read review

Pentium III - goes like the wind!
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by djhendra

Advantages: fast, fast and FAST
Disadvantages: nope, how about you?

I recently upgraded to a Pentium III 450 chip - I have to say that this is blisteringly fast. All my applications open very quickly: the response times are unbelievable. I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with the processor - I am running Windows 98 in 64 megabytes of RAM and life at the keyboard has never been smoother or faster. It's such a shame that the WWW doesn't yet offer speeds to the average home user which can really take ... Read review

...people with a Celeron class Intel Processor to upgrade and reep the rewards of the much faster speed without having to out lay any cash on new ram, or a new motherboad. in many cases its also much more easy to overclock safley than any AMD chip as they tend to run much hotter well in truth damn hot and need many fans to cool them which if you ask me sort of beats the point of the lower price they charge for them and AMD chips do not tend to be ... Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by Screechmond

Advantages: Faster all round
Disadvantages:

The Intel Pentium III 800 MHz simply takes hardware to the next stage. After upgrading from my PII 350 MHz I found not only did Windows 98 and other products 'start' and run faster, but the 3D graphics on games such as Quake 3 Arena and Unreal Tournament were improved significantly (without the upgrade of the 3D Card). The internet also operated faster, download time seemed to increase marginally. The price shouldn't discourage either. All in all, ... Read review

Fast but expensive
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by Dooyoo_Rules

Advantages: Fast
Disadvantages: Dear

For speed go for the P3, it is very fast but it is very expensive when compared to AMD counterparts. P3's go from around 400Mhz to 1Ghz, and the later models make use of coppermine technology which should make them ever faster. For the same price you could probably pick an Athlon about 150Mhz faster, or purchasing a Celeron or Duron, while reducing performance means you safe a small fortune. P3's are the most reliable however, I have heard ... Read review
