    Advantages Advantages Effective, simple, chapters

Disadvantages Disadvantages you still have to put the work in

What can I say - the hype around Victoria Stilwell since the introduction of Me or the Dog is well and truly justified. The woman knows what she's on about and this book strips away the ridiculous outfits and stupid phrases from Channel 4 and gives you the information you need in plain old english. Getting a puppy - she tells you how to train it in different ways and tells you why it works/doesn't. Got a problem - there's questions answered throughout the book. She tells you how to train particular aspects and how to discipline too. It's also reasurringly written in that it's not patronising ... more

Advantages Advantages Clear, concise training aid.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any! It is a really good book.

I have an 11 month old Jack Russell. He's my fourth dog but this time, we were determined to have a well behaved good citizen dog! This book is an excellent guide to training a dog and to understanding him/her. It is mostly common sense stuff but it is well presented and clear. I have never been able to get a Jack Russell to sit willingly but this Jack Russell will thanks to the clear instructions. I also think her idea of using hand signals with words is excellent. One of my dogs was deaf and I can see that should the dog lose his hearing, I will still be able to get him under control without ... more

Having a pet can work wonders for your health. Research suggests that a pet can improve the quality of your life. It is fun to have a pet at home; however, you also need to take good care of your pet. You are responsible for your pet’s health. You need to train your pet well. I realized all this when I got my hands on Victoria Stilwell’s “It’s Me or the Dog: How to Have the Perfect Pet. I recently bought a dog home. It is an absolute joy to spend time with my pet. However, there are times when my dog exhibits crazy behavior. I am unable to control it. Someone recommended the above mentioned ... more

Advantages Advantages clear, great illustraions, easy to read

Disadvantages Disadvantages I feel she can be too tough with the dogs

Based on the popular TV program, this book shows you how to train your dog and correct any behavioural problems they may have. I used the advice in the book to train my little rescued shitzu/maltese Charlie, basic commands such as sit, stay and lie down. His behaviour has improved. The advice in the book has also helped him overcome his seperation anxiety. The book is well illustrated and easy to read. I must admit I haven't been quite as tough as Victoria is on the show, for example when I come home from work I say hello to Charlie straight away and give him loads of attention, which you're ... more

1 Star Quick review of It\'s Me or the Dog: How to Have the Perfect Pet - Victoria Stilwell by VileOdor 22/06/2008
I own a doggie. This book, although it may seem professional, is dung. I am scared to believe that people of our world would publish such an unworthy guide. I hope that for future generations, a book with more accurate explanations will be written.
