...but they're written by JD Robb who is a pseudonym of Nora Roberts and they're about a female cop, so into the romance/suspense genre they go by default, although admittedly relationships (not necessarily romantic) play an integral part in all the books. The books are set in an almost believable near futuristic American setting, about 50 years in the future, I say almost believable because I think that the books would be better set about 100 years ...
...here as Nora Roberts and JD Robb have a book coming out called 'Remember When' which is part contemporary mystery and part futuristic with Eve solving an old crime. I have just finished reading JD Robb’s latest crime book in the Death Series - 'Remember When' - to which she has given a new twist by writing as both JD Robb AND Nora Roberts. ...Now a well respected homicide detective in New York she goes after her man or woman until that person is behind bars or six foot underground. The stories, set in the future, are not all doom and gloom and are written with a nice mixture of horror and humour. This series follows the emotional growth, and return of memories of an horrendous childhood, of Eve Dallas. With the support of her husband , Roarke, the crimes she investigates help her solve who she is and where she has come from, along with growing friendships forged with her colleagues. There are also surprising links between Eve and Roarke from their childhoods. A fascinating series with the characters sympathetically drawn. I eagerly await the next in the series. ...
