...really need to buy a JML Magic Eraser; I've got a kitchen cupboard full of cleaning products of every description (which makes me sound as if I'm a cleaning-obsessive when actually I hate housework!). Curiosity got the better of me though, and I was interested to see how a product that claims to "instantly removes stains without detergent" actually works. So what exactly is a Magic Eraser? Good question - as I couldn't find anything on the packaging ... ...- because as good as it is I know it's not something I am going to buy on a regular basis.
Magic Eraser is made by JML - their products are often on sale in Woolworths but not in supermarkets - I got mine from Boots for £3.99. ...

...Doktor Power Magic Eraser by JML is an amazing product. I was very wary of all the hype in advertising and on the internet about it. Many of these products look amazingly easy and effective to use when they are shown in a television demonstration but once you get them home things very often don't go the way the demonstrator did them. I had heard of these Magic Erasers before under a different brand name, and JML is generally a name that I trust, ... ...too hard, they disintegrate. The JML variety costs £5.99 for a single sponge, so I tend to cut small pieces off it and use it sparingly. I did find a pack of two similar sponges in our local Poundland for £1 and I must admit that I didn't find much difference, only that the JML did last a bit longer. I HATE HOUSEWORK!. I just don't do it unless I can possibly avoid it. So you can imagine the mammoth task I face when I do decide to get down and get dirty. I'd spotted this Magic Eraser in the Co-op, where they were running a video about it. Nah! Sounds too good to be true.
A sponge that cleans just about any hard surface. Including making it easy to clean the stuck on grease on kitchen tiles. Then I saw it again in Poundstretcher. Nah! bit dear ... ...But you don't need to use any chemicals at all, so you wouldn't have to pay for any of those. And must be environmentally friendly too, especially as also it is packed in just a cardboard box, no plastic.
But when I saw it again in Wilkinsons, and then in Woolies - well, I've never been accused of being a housewife - I do hate cleaning - but I always was a sucker for a miracle product. So I got a pack. Doesn't look much. Just a white sponge, which ...

...and also I've bought many JML products in the past and hardly any have been very successful. Anyway I gave it a go and found that this product actually works and all you need is to moisten with water and stains/marks effortlessly rub away.
Here are some of the types of stains/marks I've easily removed-
Curry and tea stain on worktop
Rubber scuff marks on skirting boards
Wax crayon off painted door and laminate floor
Felt tip pen off painted ... ...of the paint can lift aswell)
Grubby finger prints off most hard surfaces
Scum/limescale marks around taps (leaves taps and sinks shining)
Removes grease and water marks off my stainless steel aplliances and leaves them looking shiney and clean
There are downsides to the product. It doesn't last very long. It is so quick to use, that you can find youself racing round the house, rubbing at every slight mark and before you know it, it has desintegrated ...
