    My previous car was a 2 litre Daewoo Leganza which I thought was pretty comfortable although a bit thirsty. Definitely roomy and until the head gasket went, very reliable. I have to admit, another big car was not really on my shopping list - I actually had my eye on an LPG Astra and would have been happy, but the girlfriend saw this one at Carbase.biz in Weston-Super-Mare and it filled her criteria.     I was driving up to Preston the other day and as is my wont I started to analyse other peoples driving habits (naturally, because I'm such a brilliant driver!). There are many things I learnt, like when you're stuck in utter gridlock, statistically, you are better off staying in the left hand lane as most people will shift to outer lanes to get a head start, thus freeing up the left hand lane. 9 times out of 10, that worked for me.     My brother recently brought him self a second hand Jaguar 2.5 v6 x type its on a 51 plate with1 owner from new and 50,000 miles on the clock and full service history he payed £8,999 which considering it cost 22k new is a bit of a bargain When he told me he had brought it i said why a jaguar its a bit of an old mans car and its going to cost you a small fortune to keep it on the road. Personally i wasnt keen on this type of car ive always liked sports cars and hot hatches but after seeing the jag in the flesh its sort of grown on me.     I have had my Jaguar X-Type now for 2.5 years, and I absolutely adore it. It is a 2.5 SE, with a V6 engine. It has leather upholstery, alloys and a walnut dashboard and it positively glides along the road. Oh and all the 2.5's and above are all 4 wheel drive, which this year has come in quite handy with the ice and snow. I do a fair amount of miles so I went for an automatic, and although there is a slight loss of power when you pull away, since it is a powerful car anyway, it is fairly negligible, and the trade off is more than worth it when I am stuck in the queues on the M6 and I don't have ... more

    My first glance at the Jaguar X Type Sports was at the Motor Show last year. There is was, shining in all its glory - midnight black metallic paintwork - not a trace of chrome anywhere on the body - and it was kept away from the public's fingerprints on its own revolving stand.     My wife spotted the Jag on a day trip to Manchester. It was for sale outside some flash offices and we had a look at it as the price - £7995 in May 2008 - was very tempting and well within our budget. She fell in love with it right away. It is a 2.5 SE 4wd in metallic light blue and has the very light tan leather trim - absolutely gorgeous hardly does it justice !!! The owner saw us looking at it and came out to talk to us.     I really believed that the X type was nothing more than a Mondeo in a very pretty body and badged as a Jaguar. Having bought a business that already owned an X type, my plan was to sell the car immediately and buy a Mercedes. That was six months ago! I've been so impressed with the small Jag, that I'm going to keep it. It's not without flaws, as you'll soon see, but it is a terrific package, and above all, it has that indefinable "Jaguar Presence".     It was at the 'Driven 2003' show, held at Milbrook test track, that I had my first Jaguar experience. In fact, the Jaguar stand was my first port of call. My own car at the time was a '99 BMW 323iSE, and I was keen to see how the competition was measuring up. I was disappointed to discover that because of my age (24 yrs), I was not allowed to drive the 3 litre model, so was forced to make do with the 2.5.     I bought this thiscar second hand at an auction. I wasn't actually looking for a jaguar at all but I stumbled across this car and fell in love with its look. It is undoubtedly a beautiful british car. The rear end in particular is masterfully designed with sleek and elegant lines. The twin exhaust gives the execcutive looking jaguar a far more powerfull and ruthless look. The interior is of a high standard as you would expect with any jaguar.     Well I have just bought an X Type, and woudn't give two hoots about the mondeo chassis. in fact, i think they may have done it a favour. jaguar have seemed to give us the best of both worlds here. A sporty luxury saloon, that doesn't resemble a plastic recycling bank. Also i remember the gripe about the old Jag's, as being like driving a wollowing sofa. Not anymore. Also the performance and road handling, has improved tremendously. So. apart from the exterior esthetics, which could have had a little more thought, so not to resemble a rover 75. Would have been nice but all in all a good car ... more
