Advantages: Powerful, easy to use Disadvantages: Er........
...been hooked. With version 6, Jasc have made what is, in my opinion, the best piece of 2D graphics software available, even better. The layers (from version 5), the vectors (new in v.6) and the multitude of tools are invaluable, and the program's really easy to use as well. The only reason I can think of not to buy this is that version 7 is just on the horizon (Autumn, I think). Overall, a powerful yet easy to use program, and very good for posters, ...

If you like your photo’s and your pictures to look a bit better then this is for you. A very big leap from draw or paint, it offers huge variety and scope. Making drawing much better. Having done An Art course this was helpful, it was like having your own paint, such was the array of colours. The zoom in function and the cut and paste were a great help. Try a simple drawing in paint and transfer it to Paint Shop Pro and check the difference.
... ...anything in, and want to add a bit of your own touch. You can download a demo of Paint Shop Pro from the net, which is good as the one available in shops. The graphics and colours are just brilliant, and if you use draw or paint a lot, this is a must. I would recommend this without a shadow of doubt, the difference is unbelievable and you can have a lot of fun with it. Just as much fun as painting!
It saves files well, and worth the money I paid.......cost ...

I don't buy many applications due to the sheer expense of them, but this one leaped out at just the right price. I have my own web site to look after and so some sort or art package is certainly required. While trying out all the shareware versions of these programs, I got to like Paint Shop Pro.
At first this program struck me as being an art package, a sort of far superior version of MS Paint for instance. But after using the program for a while ... ...that. There is capability for vector editing and layered drawings. There was all the things I find in the more expensive programs. While playing about with designs for my website I often find myself playing with all the affects and deformations you can do to the images. There are loads some with really striking effects. There are things such as wind or motion blur, also effects that make your image look like its jumping out at you etc. Well worth ...

This piece of software and Photoshop are probably the two most used on the internet and they are the two tools that I use. PaintShop pro is a budget option at a fraction of the price of photoshop it does not have so many features but what it does have are very good all the same. For a beginner I would recommend this as a starter option and then moving onto the more powerful tools . The fact that a shareware try before you buy version is available ... ...to evaluate the product and decide whether you wish to purchase the full version. The programs layout is easy to navigate , the program does come with a number of filters/effects and through experimentation you can create some great effects with them. The inclusion of animation shop (a gif animator) is a great addition and this is an easy program to create your own animated gifs with. I rate this as below par, when compared to PSP5.
I have used PSP 5 for ages and absolutely love it, but version 6 has me upset in so many ways.
I would never buy this version, and will continue to use version 5 until version 7 is released.
The worst part is the Text feature, it has been changed so drastically from version 5, I really can't get my head around it enough to use it.
The inclusion of vectors is nice, but is a bit too limited.

The first time i used Paint Shop Pro, was about a year ago when i got a demo version on a magazine cover disc. And i must say i was most impressed by it, as i was looking for a good graphics package that would be good for designing web graphics Paint Shop Pro was just perfect. I supports a just about every image format that is out and has a wide range of very powerful features/tools.
It is a very easy program to use once you get used to it, and ... ...As i run my own website i had tried lots of different programs from making webgraphics but Paint Shop Pro definity has to be the best, as it is so easy to use. Even if you need a program for editing images etc this is still a top program.
And at such a low price it is excellent value, and the thing that makes it even better is that it comes with Animation Shop so you basicly get 2 programs for a low price.
Who needs those expensive programs for ...

I wouldn't be without PSP-6, I use it everyday. Its worth every penny of what I paid for it. The tools are really useful and now it has layers, its definitely not the shareware program it used to be. This program from Jasc is very user friendly graphics editing program. Unlike photoshop, which is a little difficult to begin with, Paint Shop Pro 6 has very simple to use interfaces. The features in this product are quite advanced, including vectors and layering. There are also textures available. With this program, you can produce many wonderful files, and is also useful for editing pictures.
Though I do not think it is as advanced as Photoshop ...

I downloaded PaintShop Pro off the internet a couple of months ago. I had originally had psp 5.0 but my computer got hacked and the system taken out, so I had to redownload. Psp, any version is an excellent paint program. In the chat program I go into you have a avatar, a little picture that you wear, and I use psp 6.0 to paint my own. Psp has many features, layering, vector drawing, built in filters to change the graphic you are playing with, many ... ...a graphic, softening, hightlightling, even a tube appliance, where you can download "tubes" (little pictures of pretty much anything) then simply click with one tool on on your picture and the picture appears. The only bad thing is that psp 6.0 did not seem all that much better than psp 5.0, apart from the added vector facility and a couple of effects. Still, one of the best painting programs around. ...

: I love photographs and since the invention of the scanner and graphic applications on PCs, I never have to visit a photographic shop for enlargements again!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my main use of paint shop pro, simply scan in your photograph and then make all the necessary adjustments.

Paint Shop Pro 6 is a big improvement on its predecessors. In fact it's now a joy to use - especially since I now bought mine and no longer have to look at the ugly warning screen.
