Advantages Advantages Fantastic GFX, SFX, involving gameplay, good storyline

Disadvantages Disadvantages A few minor glitches but nothing major, too violent for younger ones

Jedi Academy is another instalment in the famous Jedi Knight series of games. Having played only demos of Jedi Knight and Mystery of the Sith previously and having liked both (particularly the latter), I approached the game with fairly high expectations. Did it meet up to those expectations? No. It surpassed them. Overview You play the role of Javin, a new Jedi trainee, one who obviously has huge potential as you are the first person ever to have actually made your own lightsaber without any formal Jedi training. While in transit to the Jedi Academy your transport ship is shot down, and before ... more

Advantages Advantages Realistic Gameplay, Action Packed, Good Value.

Disadvantages Disadvantages May Take Time To Get Use To If This Is Your First Star Wars Game.

I recently read a few reviews on this game on Ciao and I have decided to do a review of my own, as I own this game. *Game Outline and Genre* This game is a slightly different one to the other Star Wars games in terms of the storyline you follow. The other games mostly have a set storyline, which will remain the same whatever you choose to do. Depending on how you look at it, this game can be Sci-Fi or Action. Nevertheless it is mostly thought of as action and the movies usually Sci-Fi. You choose what your character will look like through the game (discussed later in the review) and start off ... more

Advantages Advantages Light sabre duels, good graphics, nice storyline

Disadvantages Disadvantages The Dark Jedi and Rancours

I decided to buy Jedi Academy after a friend kept on telling me about another game by the name of Knights of the Old Republic. Unfortunately for me being a Mac user I couldn?t get Knights of the Old Republic for the Mac, I went on a few sites selling Mac games and Jedi Academy seemed to be the best alternative. Jedi Academy and Knights of the Old Republic are two very different games, Knights of the Old Republic being a role playing game and Jedi Academy an action/adventure game. At first I was disappointed in not being able to purchase Knights of the Old Republic, but when I started to play ... more

Advantages Advantages Superlative gameplay; strong story; variety and structure of gameplay

Disadvantages Disadvantages Ancient graphics engine; similarity with its predecessor

Twenty six years after the release of ‘Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope’, arguably one of the most famous films ever, the ‘Star Wars’ ethos is still going strong – perhaps stronger than ever. Lunchboxes, bed linen, toys and a plethora of other merchandise, not least the recent film release of Episodes I to III, have ensured that devotion to the ‘Star Wars’ universe has stood the test of time. You would have thought that any product bearing the slightest mention of those two magic words – ‘Star Wars’ – would have been an ... more

Advantages Advantages Jedi!, alternative endings, great story line, playable again and again

Disadvantages Disadvantages small glitches, non English servers

It was with some trepidation that I wiped the dust from my Jedi Academy disc. It had been my mainstay entertainment since I was a nerdy teenager and girls were more of a mystery to me than they are now. It was my beloved, my darling, my precious but most importantly of all it was an opportunity for me to undertake my dream of becoming a Jedi without having to have awkward conversations with my parents about why I needed a brown colored towelling robe. Now just under a decade later I am pulling it off the shelf again to rekindle my dreams of being an intergalactic hero. It also provides me with ... more

Hmmm where to begin? Ok for those of you who have played the last game Jedi Knight - Outcast, skip the next paragraph while I explain the setting to those who are new. Go on you won't learn anything new. Ok then Jedi Outcast and the previous Jedi Knight games saw you in the role of Kyle Katarn, bearded Jedi saving the universe from all number of evil bad guys. The series has been hugely popular and allows all of us who grew up with the star wars movies to live out our fantasies of being Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader depending which side you bat for so to speak. This essentially involves you ... more

Advantages Advantages Adds some nice new content

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not worthy of being the 3rd installment

Jedi Academy is titled as the Third in the great Jedi Knight series, however it is not deserving of this title. This game should have been marketed as an add-on pack rather than a whole game as little has changed. The once great line of titles has been unfortunately tainted, read on for why. Firstly, the positive side of the game, which to be fair is quite strong. The game has a new storyline based a year or so after Outcast. Skywalker and Katarn have (re) set up the Jedi Academy on Yavin IV and the first group of Jedi Students are about to be begin their teaching. You are one of those. After ... more

Advantages Advantages Action, all the Dark Forces and JKII goodness

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I knew this game was going to be at least good when I first saw the release, ever since playing its predecessor on the GC. This not only reaches the level of perfection that Jedi Outcast was at, it surpasses it. Players are Jedi apprentices, studying the ways of the Force under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker and Kyle Katarn. Gaining Force powers as you go through missions, you have to stop a Sith cult from awakening the spirit of a Dark Lord of the Sith. With the amazing graphic detail of JKII and more besides, and awesome soundtrack, you'd think it would be hard to top it. But oh no. Players ... more

Advantages Advantages New features, good graphics and storyline

Disadvantages Disadvantages More of the same, star wars games getting kinda old now

Review:- .................. The best star wars game yet !!! So you must be wondering how things are over here. It’s pretty cool, actually. The Masters are impressed that I’ve already built my own custom lightsaber. They even let me choose my own outfits and stuff. Better yet, they’re even letting me choose what race I want to be. I can’t be a Wookiee or a Hutt, but I can be a Human, Rodian, Twi’lek, Zabrak, or Kel Dor. Not bad choices, but I’m really bummed I can’t be the first Gamorrean Jedi. Oh well, no big deal. I think I’ll just stick to my normal skin. On the way to the Academy, our ... more

This game is a very complex game which you will have fun with for absolutely ages. It is reasonably priced at a price of only £7.99 for more information check out http://specialreserve.co.uk. I bought this game because the last one was amazing but this one is even better. the game is not easy at all if anything it is very hard it will or did take me quite a while to even complete the first level and it was on easy.
