    Advantages Advantages Spacious, performs functions.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not sporty, uncomfortable on long drives, no fun to drive

The need for a 4*4 jeep type car/jeep was required for the movement of my 12 stone dog and for work, and was to become a second car. I picked the Jeep Cherokee as I liked the styling. After looking at all the models available I decided that the 2.5 litre petrol model would prove the most cost efficient, even over the diesel 4.0 litre model. After searching for the desired 2.5 litre model, which was lead to believe are fairly hard to come by I found one reasonable priced at £12500 for a clean, tidy, 1998 car. At first I was pleased with the Jeep as it served its purpose without any question ... more

    Advantages Advantages Economy, View

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

After driving my Cherokee 4.0Ltd for three years, the rising cost of petrol got the better of me and I traded in for a 2.5 TD Orvis. I went for the Orvis because of the leather. I used to love the auto and I must admit to it spending the first two weeks kicking myself for "going diseasel" and having a manual change. I'm now 4 months and 4,000 miles into ownership and my self kicking has turned into self acclaim as I look at the on board computer nad see 29.5 mpg. The car is a few centimeters taller than the 4.0l Ltd and it feels it but only from the view and not the roadholding. Its another ... more

Advantages Advantages Good in rough country

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy and not as roomy as you'd expect

I bought a used Jeep Cherokee 18 months ago because I fell for its looks and ruggedness. I needed a vehicle that would get me to work each day and also transport me over rough farm tracks and wet fields. I am really pleased with its preformance in these two respects. In fairly deep snow it also performed better than I expected. I've found the repairs to be fairly expensive and more frequent than I've been used to but that's the lottery of buying a used car. it has done over a hundred thousand miles. It's reasonably economical and roomy enough for day to day use. If you need to travel with a ... more

right where to start.. im regretting buying this 4x4. it looked nice in the show room but i guess i lernt dont but on looks !! had it just under two years and the front ball joins have gone twice ( comon problem apparently ) it haddles like a tank just lucky its not as bad on the fuel ! apart from the ball joints no other problems but after a 2-3 hour drive, when you stumble down your in pain from the journey. but you dont mind getting back in because of all the cool buttons and on board computer. first few weeks we had it the little car started flashing and it said the left tail light was out ... more
